you obviously didnt read my brief synopsis of a few movies that both actresses have done. there's a REASON why Alyssa hasnt done much outside of series television..and why she has had a MINIMAL presence on the big screen. SHE CANT ACT. All she can do is coo , and try to look pretty. :rolleyes:
 
Farrah you forgot Alyssa acted in Double Dragons (based on the cartoon) which was ridiculous! LOL! And her wannabe blonde hair was disgusting! :igitt: :sure:

I get annoyed when fans bring up Shannon's past, so what? Who doesn't have a past, but what does it have to do with talent? Nothing at all. :stupid: If it wasn't for Shannen, their probably wouldn't be so much hype for Charmed.

Two reasons why I was interested in the show: Shannen and Holly, I couldn't really care about Alyssa. She'll always go down in history as a childhood star from Whose the boss and maybe a slim chance of Melrose Place.

Shannen's the "bad girl" but look at her astrological sign. She's an Aries here people they are known to explode and be aggressive. Hell my own mother is an Aries, which is why she can be brutal with her comments.

I've always liked Shannen, and I'll continue to enjoy her work. In my opinion though, I think Alyssa instigates a lot of shit but pretends to be innocent. :nod: Everyone thinks Alyssa is a saint but I don't buy it at all. I think she exploited Shannen for her past and with her temper.

Exactly! Shannon was just an easier target because of her past and her temper, I mean, you HARDLY heard any good things about Shannon, whether it be on Charmed or in Magazines, it was all negative because she was easier to spread things about, whether they were true or false. Shannon was the one that PUSHED for better storylines on Charmed, I mean really...look back on the past Seasons. Would you ever think that episodes with Wyatt Orbing Dragon's from Television, Nymphs, Leprechauns, Fake blonde bimbo's stealing the Charmed One's identites, would have even been considered if Shannon was still on the show?

Or, would you ever think that you would see episodes like Mortality Bites, and AHBL, on Charmed now? Of course not! Because when Shannon left, Charmed lost it's 'magic'. I'll give it to Alyssa that she put forth an effort in the first few seasons with acting, I liked all of the sisters equally back then, but in my opinion...the only reason Alyssa was 'trying' to put some effort into her character, was to compete with Shannon, since she was such a bigger name, and more succsessful - and talented actress then herself. But when Shannon left the show, then she felt she could take a breather, slack off even - I admit I started to despise Phoebe's character when she became involved with Cole, but even then - if she would have played Phoebe with as much drive she had in the first season's, maybe I wouldn't still hate her!

I just think Shannon leaving Charmed was the biggest mistake, their has been a steady decline in quality episodes, intresting storylines and such ever since she had left, and it's obvious Brad Kern see's that too. Seeing once Shannon left, the girls began to wear much more revealing and skimpy clothing, "Sex Sells", and since Shannon was raking in such a large majority of the viewers, when she left - they left as well, so the show needed better ratings. Therefore, their outfits now were the outcome:stupid:.

I don't know, I could go on and on about how I think Shannon is a much more talented actress then Alyssa, and I believe I already have; so I won't go off-topic anymore. It's just as simple as that, Alyssa doesn't even COMPARE to Shannon in any way. At least in my book, it's obvious she's a better actress by far.:nod:

these points are EXACTLY what im thinking lol.

The last three seasons of the show have been about the sisters getting turned into all sorts of caricatures /creatures/characters and the ultimate goal is to basically reverse the transformation. its gotten reduced to a predictable formula. They NEVER shouldve introduced a baby into the storylines...Aaron Spelling shows NEVER do well withe presence of babies. But NONE of this may have happened if Shannen stayed.

Just think...if Phoebe had died instead of Prue..you know Prue wouldve been relentless in her pursuit of vengeance against Shax. Paige joining the fray wouldve reconstituted the power of three..and Prue, being the proactive strategist that she was, wouldve lead the time on an all out search and destroy campaign against Shax and the Source and i DOUBT it wouldve taken them a whole season to do it. Cole/Belthazor woudlve been dispatched in season 4 as well.....instaed of it taking 2 seasons.

The sisters as a whole became LESS powerful, less competent and seemed to display the WORST aspects of their personalities following Prue's death. Granted there had to be some shifts since Piper became the oldest sister...but despite her surly , bitchy demeanor, she still lacks the proactive drive that Prue had. Phoebe is just selfish and self absorbed and not NEARLY the cute, spunky "baby sister" that once perfectly rounded out the trio...and Paige....while she TRIES to be the super witch..she is still too easily smacked down (even by HUMANS like Inspector Sheridan) and dismissed by her sisters...its a shame that she seems to be more proactive than Piper and Paige and yet THEY think they know better than she. Yes Paige received the power to move objects with her mind......but it was dilluted by her white lighter heritage..and you can clearly see how the sisters were "powered down" because with Phoebe being the focus of the show...and she having the weakest powers...they obviously didnt want Piper or Paige to outshine her the way Prue easily did being that Prue was the strongest sister. The sisters now rely on potions, "power of three spells" [more than in previous seasons], LEO (now THAT is sad) and the intervention of "demons gone good" and other outside forces more than their own powers ..which in the first three seasons...they were sharp and deft in the use of.

The show couldve gone many different ways with or without Prue...and even though it lost its quality and its uniqueness after Prue's death.....the writing couldve been handled a hell of a lot better than it has these last three seasons. Anyone who gets the complete 1rst season dvd will be able to see why SHANNEN IS the better actress and even if her looks dont appeal to some men...her sense of fashion was FAR more chic and classy than Phoebe/Alyssa's. Even the write up in Entertainment Weekly notes how the show is LACKING without Shannen/Prue.
 
Why all this writing?

1. Alyssa Milano is a sex symbol, since many of us Gen X'ers were in middle school now that we are getting older she's still hot (too skinny for me).

2. Shannon D is a creep, she treats people like dirt, she can act, but she's a brat and she isn't worthy enough to wash Alyssa Milano's hair.

3. Shannon D can act better, but doesn't look better and she's a has been who's been kicked out of every studio in hollywood.

Now, I wouldn't go profane on her. Also, I wouldn't say "amazing" about her acting skills either. She is limited but she's a better actress than Alyssa.

Shannen , a "has been"? i think not.

Shannen has starred in several successfull TV movies since departing Charmed. She had a solid career in TV before Charmed as well. She also hosted Scare Tactics for several seasons...hand picked by the producers of the show. (i loved the episodes where she actually took part in the pranks)

she has been in such movies as "Another Day", "The Rendering", "Satan's School for Girls", "The Battle of Mary Kay"......and ALL of these movies have gotten solid reviews ( i HIGHLY recommend "The rendering" and "the battle of mary kay"). Shannen is a serious small screen actress who has range and is very fashionable too ( CLASSY....unlike Alyssa's TRASHY)


Currently she is on "North Shore"...(which they needed to move to a better time slot) as cold and ball busting "Alexandra Hudson" and is being tapped for a new sitcom in development.
 
Where as Shannon has STILL been succsessful after leaving Charmed (Like Farrah said), I don't remember seeing Alyssa in anything other then Charmed...huh, I wonder why?:whistle:. And as for Alyssa being a Sex Symbol, she may look 'better' then Shannon in some cases, but she IS a better Actress, which is what this thread is all about, acting, succsess etc. I could careless who looked better; those will fade - TALENT, won't:D.

face it man, shannen is the far superior actress...and alyssa's look are starting to fade...NOTICEABLY.

LOL! So true Spell. I saw a second of Alyssa's 'Embrace of the vampire' her acting was awful! She couldn't even fake a sex scene. :igitt: :whistle: ;)

Wow, I totally missed this thread. LOL.

I admit when I first heard of Charmed I tuned in because of Alyssa Milano. I was a fan of hers from Melrose Place and watching reruns of Who's the Boss. But as the show progressed, I became an even bigger fan of Holly Marie Combs. :)

As far as who's "better". Frankly I find both actresses to be B class. LOL. Shannen is a has been, and Alyssa is only still around because of Charmed and her magazine spreads in Maxim Magazine and FHM. I've seen many films from both actresses, and even though Shannen has had better parts in her films then Alyssa's, they both aren't the best actresses around. LOL.

I love them on Charmed. I loved seasons 1-3 of Charmed with the original sisters, and I enjoyed Holly and soon grew to enjoy the new sisters during seasons 4-6. Although I do admit to not catching season 7 until the very last episodes, i'm now watching season 8 and finding it very good actually. ;)

But anyway, as far as who's the "best"...ehh...I can't really decide. LOL
 
thats a very sweeping generalization about Shannen....and im not saying that just because I'm a Shannen Doherty fan.

I'm saying that because BOTH actresses are "small screen" actresses and have had a minimal presence on BIG SCREEN....but then again the same can be said for Heather Locklear. She's an amazing television actress....some consider her the "queen of the small screen" but she has had a small presence on the big screen (movies) as well most recently choosing to star along side the supremely NON TALENTED Hillary Duff :stupid: its like putting the earth next to jupiter....they didnt belong together in the same movie.

But no one questions Heather's ability and even with the recently failed L.A.X show, everyone is still very much a "heather fan".

Shannen is far from a has been. she's had many successfull TV movies that received solid reviews and "critical acclaim" (Another Day, The Rendering-the most recent) and even Aaron Spelling and former cast mates from 90210 and Holly Marie Combs commented on the fact that Shannen "gives 110 percent" when working. She's a very meticulous actress who gives her all. IF she WERENT someone with a measure of talent beyond titillating male tv viewers (alyssa) why would Aaron Spelling have tapped her to lead the cast of a SECOND show of his after her infamous "firing" from 90210?

Alyssa wasnt even FIRST CHOICE casting for Charmed.

Alyssa's platform post "Who's the boss" lay heavily on her looks ...about the ONLY time i saw her turn out a DECENT performance was in the movie "FEAR" with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Whalberg. Since joining Charmed..she's been eye candy...nothing more.

Shannen may not be in the public eye right now, but there are plenty of other strong actresses who arent on a regular series right now...she'll come back soon. She'd be a great candidate for a guest appearence on Law & Order. Lynda Carter just did a successfull, highly rated two episode guest appearence on Law & Order which crossed over to Law & Order SVU.....and although LC is remembered MOST for her role as Wonder Woman and her role in "V" she too did several memorable TV movies and most people consider her to be a decent "small screen" actress.

but we arent comparing her to "all actresses on television" and certainly not anyone on the big screen (although there are a few that have appeared on the big screen that arent even worthy to be called actresses in ANY medium...Paris Hilton anyone? LOL)

the topic is "shannen vs. alyssa"...so there's no need to compare her to anyone ELSE on the tv circuit....its just a debate about THESE TWO PARTICULAR actresses.

everyone is always so quick to favor alyssa (not saying you have stated that yourself) BUT the fact is...what has alyssa DONE in the way of movies for television or anything else? she's got by on her looks and her notariety of being a child star that got sexy when she grew up...but her platform is even MORE narrow than Shannen's (who was also a child star at one point.)
