Karen assisted her inside the bar and to a seat at the back. Though Mina by no means considered herself helpless, relying on others was simply part of life for her, so she made no fuss about it. Karen brought her a bottle of water. She’d have preferred it in a glass…but then, they were in a crisis.

She took a sip of the water, while they both pulled themselves together. And then they heard a voice.

Shadow Weaver said:
Stay here...I'll see who's there.

“Karen…”

Mina’s voice held caution. They had no idea what might be lurking in the building. But not long after she heard Karen in conversation with someone…a young girl, it sounded. Her hearing allowed her to listen in on the entire conversation. That this girl and a patron had been here when they had been attacked, and had somehow hidden themselves. She also heard Karen fussing over her. Now that was something she wouldn’t allow. She got up, still holding her cane, and moved towards their voices. As she reached them, a third voice joined in.

Titan said:
"Well unless you plan on baking them cookies and telling them bedtime stories, I think we better get out of here and find help."

Mina pursed her lips, perturbed at the man's attitude.

“I assure you, it is quite safer in here than it is out there. Running off without thinking the situation through is a sure way to failure.”

LOL @ "she'd have preferred it in a glass...but then they WERE in a crisis!" LOL! posh bitch!
A petite brunette approached and spoke to him. He could tell she meant to reprimand him for his words to the older woman. Her girlfriend? The corner of his mouth turned up into a small at the thought. As for the criticism, he didn’t give a fuck. This was some scary shit and he wasn’t worried about playing nice right now. Well, maybe, a little nice.

“Well aren’t you a posh little bird.”

He changed his tone to a conspiratorial one.

“How’s about you and me ditch these two and make a run for it together? I’m sure we could find somewhere cozy to hole up until this who thing blows over.”

He smiled his most charming at her. Her expression did not change. His eyes stayed on her through a silent moment.

“I’m Andrew, by the way.”

Then his eyes moved to the two blondes and grinned.

“And yes, I am from Ireland.”

He'd heard about how American women loved Irishmen...and their accents. And hey, what else did he have to do?

Young man...I am no housewife. I'm a doctor...and a sorceress.

<< She just decided to reveal herself. Not realizing that Cass was already beginning to realize who she was.>>

I have a friend...who is special like me. She and several others work together to help people in distress. I'm going to try to contact them...let them know where we are. They will help us.

The best thing to do is to stay here, stay quiet...and hidden.

<< Karen COULD have cast a teleporting spell for herself and Mina but she couldnt just leave Delilah and now...looking upon this girl and her brash companion, she didnt want to leave them either. Her own nature as a doctor...and a MOTHER counteracting the FEAR she was experiencing.>>

I'm...

Dr. Victoria.

Mina’s nose wrinkled. Ugh, that accent.

Perfect. Trapped with a paddy.

The very idea of it. She said nothing, just scowled towards where she knew he was standing. Karen, however, was not going to let him off quite so easily.

Andrew seemed to think that was his cue to give her a bit more cheek.

Titan: “A sorceress? Well, then, how’s about we conjure-“

Of course Karen didn’t give him the opportunity to get a word in edgewise, much less finish that sentence.

Shadow Weaver said:

Mina wondered how, exactly, but she said nothing. This was a bad time for her to have been whisked away half way across the world without any of her things, but she said nothing on that subject either. She would have to make the best of it and do what she could.

Karen introduced herself and Mina, and Mina nodded to the newcomers.

“So, what shall we do to pass the time?”

She held up a hand.

"Andrew, do not answer that."

I have a woman with me as well. She's blind so I must not leave her unattended for long.

My driver was attacked by one of those creatures. He died...but he returned to life and BOTH of them attacked me. I had no choice but to defend myself and Mina from them.

We managed to make it as far as here when ...someone FELL from off a building and landed on our car, causing us to crash.

:: Cass' jaw dropped as she heard the woman tell her story. What a horrible event to go through, among other things... ::

"Oh my gosh! Is she okay?!"

We are both unharmed. We came here for refuge and a respite until we could figure out what to do...

:: Before Cass could make a move to help the woman's blind friend, a man's gruff voice spoke behind her. ::

“So it’s not just the people in here. It’s happening…out there…as well? Fuck. Me.”

:: She whirled around to face him. ::

*angrily*: "I told you to stay put! You didn't know what was going on!"

:: She was genuinely worried for the man. Didn't he understand about the evil that walks not just in the night but in the daylight too? She shook her head and turned back to the woman. ::

I must get back to her. Is the room you're in large? We can join you back there. I have...

<< She looked at the woman.>>

I have abilities...that will allow me to make sure where ever we are remains protected from intrusion.

"Well unless you plan on baking them cookies and telling them bedtime stories, I think we better get out of here and find help."

:: With a quick rolling of her eyes, Cass chose to ignore the young man behind her and smiled softly at the woman. ::

"As a matter of fact, it IS big enough for all of us. Just do what you need to do."

:: Being no stranger to abilities herself, she welcomed the chance to be protected from the zombies. They were not something she'd like to see again. ::

"Grab your friend while I make sure that there's adequate seating and comfort for her."

:: Just as she finished speaking, a petite brunette joined them and sort of bantered with the young man for a bit. He turned to Cass and the woman, who was starting to look extremely familiar to her. ::

“And yes, I am from Ireland.”

:: Crossing her arms, Cass looked at Andrew. ::

"Good for you. I'm from California."

:: Cass turned back when Dr. Victoria revealed who she was. ::

"Dr. Victoria, is there anything I...we...could do to help?"

:: She wanted to express her condolences but time was of the essence. She, too, lost beloved family members in her life. ::

Cass said:
"I told you to stay put! You didn't know what was going on!"

He smirked down at her.

“Pssh – and all you knew was running out here to get yourself killed. Sit down, half pint, and let the grownups talk.”

The older lady, who was pretending to be shocked by him, told him she was a sorceress. And he was Jiminy bloody Cricket. Still, he could get behind a bit of a role play…

“A sorceress? Well, then, how’s about we conjure-“

But she cut him off. Too bad.

She talked about having a “special friend”, but he didn’t think she meant that in the good way. Of course he knew there really was at least one person in this city with special powers, so he guessed it was possibly this woman had some of her own. But right now, he was thinking about the person he had actually witnessed doing some ass kicking, and that meant getting uptown asap.

The four of them stood there, at a loss for words it seemed. The girls wanted to stay. He didn’t agree, but he couldn’t really leave them here alone, so he’d have to convince them somehow to get out of there, find someone to pass them off to, and then hightail it to Illustra.

Mina, still stoic as ever, not laughing at even ONE of his jokes, broke the silence.

Mina said:
“So, what shall we do to pass the time?”

A grin spread across his face.

Mina said:
“Andrew, do not answer that."

So she did like him. Of course she did.

Great coincidence...perhaps a chance. Mike grimaced as he looked down at this side. It was through and through, no organs hit as far as he could tell.

Mike walked into the room, weapon aimed down but ready at a moment's notice. Karen would notice the hitch in his step, indicating an injury he was hiding.

Dr. Victoria, we meet again. I can tell you now, you will...definitely need to leave this place. Just give me...a a second to rest.

“Well we are, in truth, in a pub.”

He smiled broadly as she shushed him, moving to sit down on a nearby barstool. He picked up a glass of beer from the bar and held it aloft in a salute.

“Dr. Victoria” was off talking about holing up in that back room again. He still didn’t like that idea at all.

“Doesn’t anyone else see the insanity [points his index finger at his forehead] of putting ourselves in a small room with only one door and no windows? What if more of those nutters come? We’ll be trapped in there.”

Andrew tensed as a policeman staggered into the bar, wounded.

NO. Not bitten, so tell your young friend here to take his hand out of his pocket before we see if he can throw his knife faster than I can shoot my gun. I just had to dispatch my entire squad, so I have already had plenty of practice today.

For a second the tension was palpable. Mike was not fucking around. He walked over to Karen, gun already trained on the young man until he took his hand out of his pocket. He lifted his shirt with the other hand and relaxed as Karen gently inspected the wound.

It is a through and through. No organ damage that I can tell but dirty and oozing blood pretty good. I guess the young lady went for the first aid kit here.

Her name is Cass. She was a barista here. Andrew, the tall young man with a mouth like a garbage dump, was a customer here. As i said earlier, I'm sorceress. I'm going to cast a warding spell that will bar any physical intrusion from outsiders...zombie or not. As cruel as this may sound...I think it'd be best if we kept our occupancy at 5 now.

Then I can tend to Michael's injury.

The man’s tone was serious. Andrew’s tone was mocking.

“Oooh, big bad copper. Let’s have a go, shall we?”

Andrew laughed, amusement in his eyes. He turned to Karen, who was giving him a hard look, and put his hands together in a prayer position and gave her puppy dog sorry eyes.

“I’ll be good, mum, I promise.”

Karen went on to explain the situation. When she got to him:

Shadow Weaver said:
Andrew, the tall young man with a mouth like a garbage dump,

he blew her an air kiss.

She seemed determined to shut them all up in a tiny box. He thought about leaving right then and there. This Mike was here now and could take care of the women. But no, Mike was injured, and was lucky to have made it here at all. So he followed the others to the room.

As Mina started to find her way with her cane, he watched her, startled.

“Wait – you’re blind?”

Mina: “As a bat, Sherlock.”

Inside, Andrew helped Karen and Cass barricade the door, and then Karen actually did cast some sort of spell. He guessed it worked but they wouldn't really know until it was too late, would they?

Karen went to work on Mike's wound, and he began to tell his humble brag about having to kill so many people.

Mike said:

Andrew rolled his eyes, and under his breath:

“Big man.”

Andrew looked around at the people seated around the room. He picked up something from a basket on one of the shelves next to him and held up the packet.

"Would anyone like a peanut?"

J's Bar - Supply Room

:: Cass sat down beside Mina. She wanted to make sure Mina was okay. It was a terrifying night, and it must've been more so for Mina as she needed to rely on Karen to get around. Still, Cass felt that Mina was lucky in a way: she couldn't see how terrifying the zombies looked. ::

*warmly*: "Hey, Mina. Would you like me to get you anything to eat or drink?"

:: Cass felt a bit better, for everyone else's sake, after Karen did her spell. At least she knew that they would be safe and protected here. She didn't want anything to happen to them. Cass was very particular that way, always making sure everybody was okay. That's what made her unusual from her kind. Whereas most VAMPIRES were brutal and would kill first and ask questions later, Cass had learned to hone her abilities and instincts to make her a better fighter, a better predator. Another unusual aspect in Cass was that she could still FEEL remnants from her human life, and part of that was her consideration and compassion for others. She knew that other vampires, some of which were even in her own sect, thought of her as a BABY but they didn't know the true gift of that. Many people/beings/vampires from other sects tried to take advantage of that - and FAILED. She may LOOK fragile and innocent, but it was all part of her calculatingly deviousness. ::

Mina followed the others into the supply room. She had to admit, trapped in a small space didn’t appeal to her much either, but there really was no alternative at this time. As she entered the door she rested her hand comfortingly on Mike’s arm for a moment – a wordless thanks for his assistance earlier - before seating herself in a chair on one wall of the room. Now they played the waiting game.

The young girl bartender seated herself near her and addressed her brightly.

Cass said:
"Hey, Mina. Would you like me to get you anything to eat or drink?"

She surmised that the lavish wonders of the supply room did not contain that which she needed. Mina sighed.

“Hot water and tea would be lovely…but no, thank you, I’m fine.”

She inclined her head.

“Officer Armstrong…what do the police know about what is causing this…situation?”
