Secret Invasion Begins

Done with Marvel Earth or Marvel in general? Because Cosmic Marvel is kicking so much more ass than Marvel Earth right now. I mean we have just gone through two Annihilation Wars (well one is still wrapping up but nevertheless it's almost over) and everyone from Stellaris through Rocket Raccoon then past Captain Universe then over and around Gamora and all the way up to Nova have been revamped in the best ways possible not to mention the fact that Nova series kicks nine different kinds of ass and the new Guardians of the Galaxy series is gonna rock the very foundations of The Marvel Universe.

Marvel Earth is...well it is one of the most confusing things in existence right now. Everyone was at each others throats because they were either Registered or Not Registered and now even the ones who are Registered together or are Not Registered together are at each other's throats because everyone suspects everyone else of being a Skrull!!

i don't think any of the cosmic beings are skrulls. they are just around as red herrings but there is a skrull around around as Ms. Marvel in her title (and on a date with Wonder Man lol) while the real one is still around. and BTW wouldn't you be happy to find out Dazzler was a skrull that would mean a return to the blonde haired, Silver jumpsuit wearing dazzler.

Well Spellbinder...rest your fears. Ms. Marvel along with so many other heroes and heroines are being promoted as skrulls just for that reason: promotion and to throw you off. In the latest Ms. Marvel, actually the last couple of issues you'd see she is not a Skrull and you have nothing to worry about. :D

I for one am loving it so far, and can't wait for the rest of the event. Bring on the Skrulls!

Skrull list update:

I didn't write this but here is a summary of SI#2 thanks to Iron Syndicate on CBR

We start practically one second after the 70's heroes exit the ship and the two teams are facing each other, each thinking the others are skrulls. Suprisingly, the only level-headed guy in the room is Ares, who screams "We have to get out of here, it's a trap!".
Suffice it to say, no one gets out of there, and a battle erupts. The Spidey vs. Spidey fight had a real funny line, and it's great to see Clint rocking the bow and arrow again. The Skrulls figure out a great way to take out the Sentry by impersonating the Void and pushing Bob's crazy-buttons, which begs some interesting questions - how do they know all these things about Bob, when no one else knows 'em? It's then that the battle is interrupted by a raging T-Rex.
Ms. Marvel airlifts Stark out of the battle, and he asks her to drop him off at the Mutate Citadel - he's gonna build a new armor out of scratch. Tony tells Ms. Marvel she's got to fly back to the mainland and gather everybody available, there's a war.
Back to the battle-ground, everyone's scatterd due to the dinosaur attack. Luke (bald) and Wolverine (no-mask) run into each other, neither trusting the other, but there's nothing they can do to each other (Unbreakable Claws vs. Unbreakable Skin). They stubble upon the 70's Spider-Man, dead, skrully. Clint (Ronin) is just about to shoot them both, when they hear a rustling in the bushes, it's Mockingbird and Clint (Hawkeye), 'cept Hawkeye's dead, skrull. Mockingbird pleads her humanity when Clint (Ronin) comes up and asks her about something only the two of them would know (a miscarriage Mockingbird had), Luke and Logan don't buy it, but Clint vouches for her.
Cut to New York, where the Young Avengers are watching the Baxter Building implode into the Negative Zone, they're talking about calling the Avengers, when a ship crashes into the ground, lots of Neo-Super-Skrulls begin to pile out of the ship and attack.
To Be Continued...

Overall, it was a very action-heavy issue. Not nearly as good as the first one, but it wasn't bad either. And some of those Neo-Super-Skrull combos look bloody lethal - I couldn't figure out all of them, but the Dr. Strange/Black Bolt one looks menacing...
The Clint/Bobbi scene was touching, and a great little piece of drama in the midst of all the action, it'll hurt all the more when one (or both) of them are revealed to be Skrulls

Pretty good issue, especially the ending. I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing Young Avengers in action again. I'll definately be one of the first around here to grab Young Avengers/Runaways in June when it hits. Also, Mighty Avengers is worth checking out this month. Interesting tie-in. Nick Fury has been quite the busy man.

Just finished SI #3. I don't understand the intricacies of Marvel continuity (being a comics newb essentially), and how badly Bendis is destroying/ignoring said Marvel continuity, logic...but I'm kinda digging this, just as crazy "event" cliffhanger storytelling.

I hated the stuff Leinil Yu was doing for New Avengers, but I'm starting to like him for Secret Invasion. Must be the inker and colorist helping him out cos it looks brighter, cleaner, less grungy...more comprehensible.

I like that Nick Fury has recruited his rag tag band of newbs to help wage the war, that's kinda cool. That was a fun Avengers tie-in.

It feels very Battlestar Galactica, with sleeper agents who don't know what they are...and the quasi-religious stuff going on with the Skrulls. Maybe Bendis actually had these themes mapped out years ago though.

I don't know, i really not feeling the Invasion. I'm glad Bendis is sticking to mostly rewriting his own continuity but i really was expecting more than the usual Zomg its me, fight, rinse, repeat storyline thats going so far. I think i was just expecting too much, and especially when you compare to BSG when it was done much better. So far Secret Invasion has been pretty much fluff and explosions.

Yeah. I haven't read enough comics to compare maybe. Bendis is a mixed bag, no doubt. I think he does better with small scale stories, character studies.

I KNEW IT! I #$%@ing knew it! TONY STARK is a #$%@ing Skrull! He's a sleeper agent just like "Mar-Vell" was supposed to be and not only that he is The Skrull Emperess'#$%@! I know the scene in SI #3 where the Spider-Queen practically mind rapes Tony can be interpereted in many different ways but think about it...he's currently the most powerful (figurative political power that is) man in the Marvel Universe and he's a got a Holier Than Thou attitude about The Superhuman Registration Act which almost resembles the whole "AS IT IS WRITTEN SO SHALL IT BE DONE #$%@es!!" attitude the Skrulls have about their "Oh, just because Galactus ate our world means we get to take over the Earth" religious B.S.

I can't wait until the whole Skrull thing is said and done with because I really want to know who the #$%^ is who so we can get on with Annihilation 3 and Marvel Zombies vs. Alien vs. Predator vs. Terminator vs. Freddy vs. Jason vs. Michael vs. Buffy vs. Ash (just kidding...well not about Annihilation 3, I'll bet we will have one of those at some point in the future.)
