"I think we BOTH underestimated how Helena would react."

Alek still was finding it hard to believe. He really thought Helena cared about him enough to want him to be happy, that she would let him have whatever he wanted. Whoever. He thought his years of service to her would be enough. They weren’t.

Didn’t she know? That by doing this, Helena would force him to hate her? Didn’t she care?

Persephone said:
"Worrying gives you wrinkles....just ask Helena."

He tried unsuccessfully not to smile.

“Please don’t tell her that.”

He laughed, reaching down to put his hand on top of hers. He told her this difficult time wouldn’t last forever, and he felt her sigh.

Seph said:
"Then the cabin."

“Then the cabin.”

He held onto that image, representing so much to him.

“I wish we could go now.”

He exhaled, allowing himself to relax, to just feel her next to him. Be with her. In the morning he would have to resume the chess match, but for right now, he allowed himself to enjoy feeling something real.

Charope LLC

[ Ever since the night Rae had reunited her with Kyle and Bobby, she'd felt more alligned within herself than she had in ages , and it was showing in many ways. Now here she was, getting ready for a DATE (!?) She hadn't had a moment like this in a long time, and all the little sensations and feelings in this moment were a reminder that the core of her being was still present. ]

[ Using one of the more cosmetic aspects of her power, brought about by exposure to the Amazons' purple ray, Silver Swan rearranges the molecules of her silver silver armor and accents, and is now wearing a silver cocktail dress that gives a very pleasing view of her statuesque form and figure.]

[ Pre-mutate, Sharon stood at 5'8 without high heels. Now she stood at 5'11. But Darren being as tall as he was, she could wear her high heels without completely towering over him.]

[ She puts the finishing touches on her look- accessories, a hint of make up, and then does one final turn in the mirror, running her hand, and her silver manicured nails through her hair as she gives herself a smile of satisfaction]

I can't believe how...much I'm looking FORWARD to this!

[ It meant so much to her that Alycia had been so encouraging as well! She was a whole woman, she deserved moments like this, and Alycia affirmed that.]

[ Soon, Darren was at the doors to Charope.]

[ Sharon made her way down, and opened the doors, and their eyes meet for a moment.]

Darren.

[ She says in a warm tone]

Darren: Hello, Sharon.

[ He couldn't help but look her up and down. Sharon looked upon him as well]

it's as if he came from the halls of Mt. Olympus!

Darren: You look beautiful.

[ Sharon smiled a bit]

Sharon: And you, so handsome.

[ The handsome Darren stands before her, with a smile on his face and a most beautiful arrangement of iceberg roses with a kiss of silver on them, and baby's breath.]

[Sharon's own silver eyes widen]

My favorite flower!

Darren: I thought I'd do this right.

[ He says as he hands the flowers to Sharon]

Sharon: They're beautiful! They're....

[ Memories of Bobby giving her flowers like this flash across her mind]

...They're my favorite flower!

[ she says softly, as she holds them close, and inhales the soft, sweet scent while Darren watches her.]

Come in for a moment...while I put these in some water.

[ She knows he's watching her walk, and she doesn't mind at all!]

[ It's nice to be seen for the WOMAN she is, rather than just the super powered Silver Swan]

[ After a few moments, with the flowers now in some water, and a vase, and one of the roses now in her hair, Sharon makes her way toward Darren.]

I'm ready.

[ Darren offers her his arm, and two exit Charope LLC together with the doors closing behind them.]

[Next stop, The Parthenon's Ambrosia]

The Sanctuary- Rose's house

"Nice to meet you... [giving Xavier a smile] Again. [he looked at Alycia and nodded] Ms. Barnett. Your reputation proceeds you."

:: How nice to see Zizi, and her DATE! He seemed familiar to her, but she couldn't immediately recall him, maybe it was just his overall charming good look. She smiled and nodded in return::

Hello, Gabe. You look familiar. Have we met BEFORE?

:: She looked at him for a moment longer, not realizing just what connection they had, even as HE was pondering what she might do if a golf club within her reach.::

:: She then looked at Zizi for a moment as they both took their places at the table. ::

:: As they all began to break the ice and enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvres, Alycia couldn't help but notice this diverse group of people gathered here, all in support and/or friendship of Rose! She hoped that this would also register with Rose, and soften her heart, even just a bit, where Zach was concerned.::

:: Soon...Rae displayed her charm, as only she could, as she joked about how she knew Rose. Alycia couldn't help but smirk and snicker a bit. This woman was something else! But one thing that wasn't a joke, was Rae's care and outspoken support of Rose, Alycia respected that. Same with Danny!::

Xavier chuckled a bit and then looked over to Alycia. She was absolutely fetching, that is for sure. And she had a mystery that he wanted to know more about. So, he asked while Rae proceeded to out Gabe as not as pure as the driven snow.

So Alycia, what made you decide to pursue law? You obviously have more than simply an aptitude. There is a passion here...what started that?

I've always been an advocate. I've always been inclined to help others, protect the weak.

:: She looked down at her wrists, which were covered by feminum bracelets::

But interpreting and using the LAW to defend those who can't defend themselves CRYSTALIZED in my soul when my father, a hard working man who dedicated himself to his job...was diagnosed with cancer. The company, which turned out to be a holding of MYSTECH'S, cancelled his health benefits, and got away with it because my father didn't know how to fight back. They USED my father, took all of his energy, creativity, loyalty and vitality, and when he needed the benefits he'd EARNED, they pulled the rug out from under him....and he died.

It was then that I knew I had to do something, so that others wouldn't be steamrolled by people, by entities or companies that skirt the law, and so it began. Corporate lawyer, Private attorney, Assistant District Attorney, Special Assistant to the National Security Advisor/Chairwoman on Committee of Superhuman affairs, and now, a powerful presence in the World Court, with connections to key UN figures.

My journey as a legal counselor has taken me on a path I couldn't have imagined then...including a stop on Themyscira, where Hypolitta, the Queen of the Amazons christened me with the Amazonian name, "Charope", which means brilliant confrontation.

She said I was more than a legal counselor, I was a legal scholar, and that it was a gift. I think that was my..."full circle" moment.

:: She looked at Xavier::

The law is what keeps order, it's what ensures that RIGHTS are recognized, respected, PROTECTED AND ENFORCED if necessary, it protects the weak, and deters those who think that bad behavior and lawlessness are acceptable. It protects the private citizen from the abuses of the corporation, and ensures that victims of crime have a voice that will be heard. Without the law, and those of us who interpret it, society would break down in the worst way.

Zizi looked a little uncomfortable and frazzled which was odd considering these were her friends. So obviously something had happened before him and Ramsey returned. But when he asked her if she was okay, she just brushed it off.

Zizi: “Yeah. Yeah, yeah yeah. The wine’s just going to my head a little I think.”

Gabe's eyebrows furrowed, gripping her shoulder as she placed her hand on top of his. He leaned down closer to her, lowering his voice.

"If you wanna go, just say the word. I don't want you feeling sick.."

Zizi and alcohol was like oil and water. Definitely didn't go together, even when you shook the shit out of it. But she insisted that she was okay and Gabe relented, knowing that if she was feeling some kind of way she'd let him know. He decided to lighten the mood by bringing up Ramsey's obvious infatuation with Rae.

Zizi: “He certainly does work fast.”

Gabe rolled his eyes a bit.

"Why do you think I was shoving him away from you."

He grumbled. Ramsey was one of his best mates. But he'd be damned if he let the Ram anywhere near Zizi given his reputation. But, Ramsey seemed to be enjoying Rae far too much for Gabe to be concerned anymore. At least for NOW.

Zizi: “Where are manners? Simon, this is Gabe Jerome. He designed the new security system for the Sanctuary.”

Gabe gave him a polite smile and extended his hand for a good shake. Solid grip. Alright.

"Nice to meet you."

Zizi: “And that is his associate, Luke Ramsey. Simon is starting up a new charitable organization.”

Ramsey didn't hear anything or pay much attention to anyone despite Zizi trying to introduce him. Gabe gave a small laugh and a shrug.

"Don't mind him. He's got the manners of a drunk Scotsman."

Ramsey: "Fuck you mate."

Gabe grinned.

"Language."

He ribbed while rubbing Zizi's shoulders knowing she'd get the joke.

Ramsey: "El fucketh youeth mate."

Gabe rolled his eyes and laughed as Ramsey turned his attention back to Rae after giving Simon a polite welcome wave.

"Yeah, much better."

Turning his attention back to Simon, Gabe smile was wide and relaxed.

"So a charity organization, huh? What kind of charity? I can Venmo you a donation if you give me your info."

Delilah: Keep talking smart guy…and I’ll be sure to have Zach tell everyone at your office how you got your ass handed to you by a girl.

Gavin laughed deeply, his amusement at her 'threat' obvious.

"See, you could TRY, but I handle Zach's taxes AND I manage his stock portfolio, so I think we both know who he'd side with here."

Delilah: Or maybe you’d like to sweeten the deal with a little friendly wager?

His smirk matched hers.

"Sure thing, what are you willing to part with?"

He asked teasingly, and then he turned to the barkeep and ordered another round of whiskey for them. He took his beer in his left hand, handed her beer to her when it was delivered, and cradled the two shots in his right, as he gestured for her to lead the way.

"Ladies first."

He said, following her eagerly. They set their drinks on a cocktail table against the wall, and he retrieved the darts from the board.

Alek repeated her sentiments on the cabin, his hand resting on top of hers causing her to shut her eyes and stop thinking about Helena and the different ways to stop her. She didn't want to tarnish the moment by focusing on the Red Queen, not when everything felt perfect in their little bubble of denial. Persephone felt him relax and sigh out, her thumb gently running down his cheek.

Alek: “I wish we could go now.”

They could. She could take them both in a torrent of winds and disappear from the Hellfire Club--be gone for no more than a few hours. Enjoy the freedom and be away from prying eyes and death threats. But it would only make the return that much more bitter. It would make the reality of the situation sting that much more. She didn't want to spoil the cabin and what it represented.

"I know...me too."

Persephone repositioned herself so her head was laying on his shoulder and her face was buried in the crook of his neck. She wrapped her arm around his chest while gently kissing the skin along his neck.

"We will soon."

She whispered, her eyes finally closing; Fully believing that the fantasy would become reality.

The Hellfire Club -- Catacombs

Kelly: Well, I hate to announce something so preliminary, but let's just say, this year's stocking stuffers at the annual Christmas Party are going to memorable.

Haleigh smirked at the implication.

"Mmm.... I hope I'll still get my stocking stuffed even if I'm on the naughty list."

She replied, and then they got to talking about what she 'wanted'. Kelly sarcastically mentioned world peace, but Haleigh just shook her head, that wicked smile still there.

"No, world peace is bad for business. I'd never want that."

She said, and then she suggested that her and Kelly could be allies. Kelly seemed to take a moment or two to consider that. Haleigh didn't flinch under the scrutiny.

Kelly: You know..for as much as you are like your mother, looking at you now, seeing you here? In the lab. I can clearly see Christopher in you.

There was a nearly imperceptible flicker of something in Haleigh's eyes, an unholy blend of hate and rage that was gone when she blinked, as Kelly laughed and continued, reflecting on her father's obsession with the T virus.

Kelly: In my timeline, he seemed so consumed by it, but here, at least it makes sense, because he was actually consumed with you. [pausing] You have his smile.

Despite the immediate desire to drop the corners of her lips, Haleigh kept her smile fixed and her gaze locked on the Black Queen. Haleigh said nothing. Kelly raised her glass and toasted to her father.

"Damn, I'm out of champagne, or I'd drink to that."

She said, and there was an edge in her tone that suggested that if Christopher ever crawled out of Hell, Haleigh would personally escort him back. Kelly was bluntly honest about not wanting Haleigh here, and not caring for the games they were all playing. Haleigh shrugged nonchalantly at that. She played because she had to, because her sister was here and therefore she was forced to care about the game as it affected them in unavoidable ways.

Kelly: We could work together, Haleigh. It would not be unfathomable. Garnering trust in a place like this is a fool's errand, so I won't require even that. What I will require is frankness. Honesty.

"Oh, is THAT all?"

She asked, amused as she thought back to her first night here, when Kelly had wanted her submission. Surprisingly, Kelly acknowledged that as a mistake, and raised an eyebrow at that, but let the Black Queen continue.

Kelly: You are The White Princess. Daughter of Diana and Christopher. You may not be my peer, but at the very least, you are an important colleague. So I will treat you as such moving forward. This means you can speak freely.

"Oh, excellent."

She deadpanned.

Kelly: As will I. So, how exactly do you see this alliance working? What is it that you want from ME, Haleigh?

There was a short pause in which Haleigh just gazed steadily at Kelly, cool and calculating.

"Dr. Shaw, isn't it obvious? I want to know everything that YOU know. I have no doubt your insight and experience is worth more than a thousand Mystech files."

She said. With all the years she'd spent trying to destroy Mystech, she'd never known just how completely her creation and existence was due to the company and its founders. Now she wondered what could be learned by a closer look, which Kelly could provide, due in large part to her sharp scientific mind.

"But all good partnerships are based on equal reciprocity. I don't expect you to do me any free favors. Maybe you think there's nothing you want from me, but let me ask you this: Do you believe for one second that the Black Knight alone can stand in the gap when your would-be children come calling?"

Haleigh paused for a second, but it had been a rhetorical question in an effort to gauge Kelly's expression.

"No, of course you don't. Nothing against Cobra, but let's face it, the King siblings are not to be trifled with. Maybe if you had a full court, you could breathe easier. But you DON'T, not yet. If your kids show up tomorrow with their army of super friends, the Inner Circle would be spread thin protecting their own Queens, and you'd be left with your ass hanging out, because if we're being 'honest', nobody here really seems to like you very much. Now I'm not suggesting you can't hold your own, but why turn down an alliance with the White Princess? In my time here so far I've seen very LITTLE cross-court interaction. If we don't want to sustain heavy casualties, we need to tie the courts together more tightly."

Xavier was intrigued as Alycia responded to his question in detail. He was stung by the revelation that her father had died of cancer because of Mystech and their shit, and he grasped her hand as he gasped.

Oh! I am so sorry, love.

Alycia continued, with a curriculum vitae that would put most jurist to shame. And it tied in nearly to her Amazonian connection with her being named by Hippolyta herself! His eyes widened at the realization as she continued.

He listened as she spoke, deeply considering her words before replying.

Well said, and I greatly respect your faith in the law, no doubt connected to your adroitness in navigating it. As for myself, my Father realized that the rich were able to systematically steal from the poor amazing artifacts that made them more powerful and the wretches who were robbed ever the more desperate. Once I knew what I could do I started taking them back. I will not pretend that I was on the side of law that YOU occupy, but I most certainly considered myself on the side of what it's just and right. Perhaps you can show me how those three concepts can cohabitate.

Xavier raised his glass to Alycia in respect and drank deeply....

Delilah threatened to have Zach broadcast how terrifically she beat his ass down at the office.

Gavin said:
"See, you could TRY, but I handle Zach's taxes AND I manage his stock portfolio, so I think we both know who he'd side with here."

"Dirty pool."

She scrunched up her face.

“But you obviously underestimate my feminine wiles.”

She winked at him and laughed, suggesting they make the game a tad more interesting.

Gavin said:
"Sure thing, what are you willing to part with?"

“Oh that’s no fun - you don’t get to choose your own. If *I* win, you have to sing Born in the USA karaoke.”

Gavin ordered another round of shots and clutched them and his beer, motioning for her to go ahead. She slid off her barstool.

Gavin said:
"Ladies first."

She smirked.

“Always.”

Delilah made her way to the back, choosing a table against the wall, and set her beer down while Gavin got the darts from the board. She took them from him, raising one of the shots with her other hand.

“To new friends.”

The Sanctuary

Zizi waved off Gabe’s concern for her as her just being a little tipsy, and he leaned down to speak low in her ear. The hairs on her neck tingled at him being so near, his hand still on her shoulder.

Gabe said:
"If you wanna go, just say the word. I don't want you feeling sick."

She turned her head and smiled.

“I’m fine, really, thanks. I’ll definitely tell you if it gets to be too much.”

She mentioned the speed at which Ramsey had attached himself to Rae.

Gabe said:
"Why do you think I was shoving him away from you."

“Thanks. I think.”

She introduced Simon to Gabe and then Ramsey, who barely noticed.

Gabe said:
"Don't mind him. He's got the manners of a drunk Scotsman."

Ramsey said:
"Fuck you mate."

Gabe said:
"Language."

She laughed at his teasing of her, and Gabe & Ramsey's interaction, feeling the tension slowly dissipating as he rubbed her shoulders. He even sweetly offered Simon a donation.

"And of course any technical services you need, you got your IT right here."

She smiled brightly at Simon, leaning back into Gabe's hands.

"How are things going, getting it off the ground?"

The Sanctuary- Rose's Brownstone- the Kitchen

<< everyone was settling in, and interacting. It was such a diverse group of people, and they were all there for a common thread. This pleased Rose. The woman moved about the kitchen with efficiency and ease that would make Martha Stewart proud, and the smell of authentic, home cooked italian cuisine flowed through the air. Everything was just about ready to serve!>>

"Gotta show you around the place. Rose is expecting quick results."

Ramsey: "And I definitely give quick results."

Ramsey slyly implied while grinning at Zizi.

"Get the fuck outta here with that. Common. [to Zizi] Sorry..."

Gabe grumbled as he pushed Ramsey away from Zizi in a playful yet forceful manner. He turned back around looking at Zizi.

"I'm gonna find Rose and introduce Ramsey to her before he starts setting up the system. I'll be back soon. [looking at Rae then] Then dead people."

Ramsey: "Dead people? Shit mate, I was only joking."

Gabe laughed as they both disappeared down the hall.

<< Rose was aware of every living thing within the area of her Sanctuary, so she knew Ramsey was here. His was a strong, deliberate aura, but even a peripheral scan of him determined no malice, just a wild, and creative nature that did not like being confined.>>

<< Gabe was sweet, but he feared Rose. She was accustomed to that, even before all of this began, she understood that her status as a mutant in general would mark her for fear, misunderstanding, or intolerance. But with him, it was something else...not since Simon first reached out to her, had she sensed such....APPREHENSION from someone who dealt with her! Why would he feel like that?>>

<< she frowned, and her face was enshrouded in SHADOW for a few moments as she paused in which she was doing.>>

<< Her hand gripped the a large knife that she'd been using on the cutting board, and she began to DRAG the blade across the cutting board when....>>

Seer said:
<< Gabe peeks his head into the large kitchen, with Ramsey right behind him.>>

<< Rose snaps out of her darkness once more, as if nothing had occurred, turning to face both men, with a warm smile as her purple hair continued to flow.>>

Hello, Gabe. Dinner is about to be served any moment!

<< She looked at Ramsey, waiting for the introduction she knew Gabe would make.>>

Rose's Brownstone

Ramsey: "A little? Oh darlin', you have no idea."

:: Rae gave an amused and seductive type of laugh as she placed her hand on Ramsey's shoulder. ::

Ramsey: [leaning in] I was hoping you'd let me take a look under ya hood...shit...my hands ain't the only thing i'm good with."

"Naughty boy."

:: What a perfect little scamp for Rae to play with. She flashed a look at his beard and took a few moments to think about all the places she might like that beard on her body. Her pulse quickened for a moment. ::

"Well...I am due for an oil change. Don't worry though, my chassis is just fine."

:: He downed the rest of his scotch and Rae Ann thought for a moment about kissing his lips right then and there to taste the remnants of scotch on his beard. If she had been any other place in the world, she probably would have. Ramsey was cute, and Rae Ann enjoyed men like men enjoyed cigars - savored them, took them in, enjoyed the atmosphere they provide, all before throwing them in the trash. It took a tough man to sustain any real length of time in a "relationship" with Rae. When Rae loved something, she consumed it entirely. Her idea of moderation was non-existent. She was like a wildfire, and though it had cost her a lot in her life, she liked it that way. So she looked at love like she was an addict going cold turkey from it. She had to be careful, she couldn't afford to "use" again. ::

:: That not to say Rae, even in her sixties, wasn't sexually active and liberated. She was. And right now she was thinking about adding a new chapter in the history of her sexual conquests - Ramsey. The Benjamin to her Mrs. Robinson. ::

Ramsey: "Lady, you're a fine piece. No disrespect of course. My pops taught me well enough not to piss a good lady off. I enjoy my nuts right where they are."

"Call me "lady" again and you'll get to see WHY your father said that to you."

[smirking]

"Though I am sure there are better places you might want your manhood closer to."

:: Soon Simon arrived and Gabe and Ramsey began to engage in a little foul mouthed back and forth. Ramsey was so rough around the edges. He lacked decorum, and he didn't care what people thought about him. In short, he was the perfect kind of guy to bang. He had the potential to be a regular "date" for Rae Ann, and she wasn't going to lose the chance. ::

"Good to see you, Goldilocks!"

:: She said to Simon before turning to face Ramsey. ::

:: Rae leaned in. ::

"I'm as free as they come, but even I am too old to fuck some random dude in a bedroom, coat closet of bathroom of the house of somebody I look at like a daughter."

"But I'm not opposed to the first part of that equation."

:: From her pocket she pulled out a business card and tucked it into Ramsey's shirt pocket, taking a bit of time to inspect whether or not his pecs were actually that defined. They were. ::

"Next time you feel frisky, why don't you give me a call. We can...unleash the wallaby within, so to speak."

"Rae Reynolds - Psychic - Medium - Faith Healer - Minister - Bitch"

:: the card had her personal number on the back. ::

:: Rae winked. Rose introduced herself yet again and Rae let them talk. ::

Zizi reassured him that she would let him know if she wanted to leave. He nodded with a smile, knowing if she really wanted to leave she would let him know. They all began to converse about Simon's foundation as Gabe took a look at his watch realizing that Ramsey needed to get started.

"Sorry to have to keep running in and out, but I need to to go over some specs with Rams before he starts. And at this rate he'll be passed out before he starts the job."

Ramsey: "Bullshit I will. You know I can drink you under the table, Jerome."

"You wish. [gesturing to the door] Common hot stuff."

Ramsey: "Aw ya flatterer. [to Rae] Don't you go nowhere....should be done in no time."

Gabe looked at Zizi and gave her a wink.

"Should be quick. I'll be back before food hits the table."

Ramsey: "Look at you flirting with little Barbara Gordon!"

Ramsey teased as he slapped Gabe on the back as they both began to walk to the hall.

[with a chuckle] "Get off it!.... Wait you know Barbara Gordon but you don't know the difference between Clark Kent and Peter Parker"

Ramsey: "Shit....I remember the hot ones."

Gabe and Ramsey laughed as they disappeared from the dining room and headed back toward the kitchen. He figured he should let Rose know they were gonna get started and he wouldn't be long. Polite folks usually don't get filleted. Peaking his head into the kitchen, he saw Rose dragging a huge knife across a cutting board looking demonic as fuck again. Ramsey caught a glimpse as well.

Ramsey: "The fuuuck...."

He whispered as Gabe elbowed him hard in the side.

"Shh!"

Ramsey: "OW!"

Rose: "Hello Gabe, dinner is about to be served at any moment!"

Gabe gave Rose a smile while Ramsey followed suit. Although his seemed much more forced with a hint of fear.

"Great, smells delicious! [gesturing to Ramsey] This is Luke Ramsey, my equipment specialist. He's going to be the one to lead the installation."

Ramsey: "Lookin' sharp."

Gabe side eyed him.

"Wha...no!...the food! I love me some Italian food. Deeelicious. Anyways....Luke [extends hand out] nice to meet ya."

If Gabe could face palm at that very moment, he would have. Instead he supressed a groan and smiled at Rose.

"I just gotta go over a couple thing before Ramsey starts installing the equipment. Just wanted to let you know so you don't wait for me. Shouldn't be long."

"Interesting."

< Talisman would not let Haleigh anywhere near her research unless directly ordered. The fact that she was here, and acting in order was fleeting. Both Diana and Haleigh were alpha predators, the only people they truly had left to vex were each other. Though Haleigh was being a good girl now, she had a feeling that this might all coming crashing down around them, and Kelly didn't want to be the woman who led the fox into the chicken coop. >

"A nimrod didn't fall out of the sky and land at Sister Mary Justice's feet out of nowhere and for no reason. It took quite a bit of time and preparation. I had to wear down the good nun, bit by bit, and then I had to rebuild her, empower her to gather the others. But when she finally did get that nimrod, and after I showed her how to use it of course, well she RAN with it. She was just how I had envisioned. Full of faith and vengeance, with a distinct leaning towards discipline. She was sensational, really. There was a far greater reason for all of this, the creation of The Purifiers and their purpose, one none of you know or can know..at least not yet."

< The Black Queen had been instrumental in turning the wheels in motion that caused The Purifiers Event. Most of The Six and The Birds of Prey did not know this. What's more, is most of them didn't realize it had been a distraction. Kelly needed to make it clear to Haleigh that she was not the weak link in The Sisterhood. There were no weak links in The Sisterhood anymore. More importantly, she was not Kelly King. They were two entirely different beasts altogether. Moreover, Talisman just wanted to show Haleigh a little bit of what she was dealing with when it came to The Black Queen. >

"Cameron and Cassandra being kidnapped was no small accident. In order to use these parting gifts left to me by Kelly King, I realized I was going to have to break them up [Alison & Cameron]. At first, I thought if I could get Sister Mary Justice to beat him enough that he reverted to type, I might just have been able to recruit him. And then I thought, maybe he might even join you here. I got Ava instead. The horrible thing is that even without him in league at The Hellfire Club, he still helps me. Still uses those sad puppy dog eyes to convince the others that he deserves to know me. That I might have some good deep down. That I can be saved, and I intend to continue to let him think that..and I'll help along the way of course."

[smirking]

"Hmm.. perhaps there IS something you have to offer me. My [feigning maternal love] son."

< Cracking her neck back and forth. >

"When it comes to Alison, I intend to deal with her how I dealt with her in my native timeline. Drowning her in the Agean Sea. Though she had just been born then, so I expect a lot more flailing this time around. And hopefully less crying."

< Kelly cracked a half smile for a moment. >

"So I guess here we are. I cannot let you into our labs, not without supervision or permission granted by The White Queen. You belong to her, and if you turn out to be as...infamous as your reputation, I want that blood to be on Diana's hands, not mine. If she grants this, I can teach you what you wish to learn alongside Alice, in exchange for your diplomacy with regard to me and my court. When my court is full, you will give your own endorsement, you will take them under your wing, make them appear valuable to Malice, a courtesy which will be reciprocated to you."

< pausing with a smirk. >

"And if you throw in a little message or two to Cameron every now and then that I might not be the monster we both know I absolutely am, I will see how quickly I can get that Bishop PLEASURE model delivered to your quarters."

very good post! Alison: we'll see about THAT! :p
Charope, LLC

Darren pulled his Porsche 911 under the carport at the front of Charope, cursing the sudden rain shower for forcing him to keep the top up.

I bet the Silver Swan loves the feel of the wind in her hair.

He thought as he stepped out. He cleaned up in his tux, yet relaxed it down by removing the tie and leaving a couple of top buttons undone. He extracted the bouquet from his front seat, careful not to damage the blooms.

Sharon opened the doors, and she looked absolutely stunning. He took a moment to appreciate the view, less discreet about it now that they weren't in a professional setting. He told her she looked beautiful, but felt like it was an understatement. He presented the flowers with a smile.

"I thought I'd do this right."

He explained, and the look on her face was priceless. She invited him in so she could put the arrangement in a vase, and he got to watch her walk away.

Those LEGS though.... Lord have mercy on me...

She said she was ready, with one of the roses tucked in her hair. He flashed her another smile and offered his arm, escorting her out to his coupe and opening the door for her, then shutting it after she hopped in. He went around the front, to get to the driver's seat, and deftly navigated his way to FDR drive so she could enjoy views of the East River and a little speed exhibition on the way to dinner.

"I know I said this earlier, but I can't get over how amazing you look...."

He said, stealing glances when traffic allowed. After a few minutes of listening to the radio, he laughed at himself.

"Also, I feel like I should be honest with you, I haven't done this in a long time, so I apologize in advance if I'm a terrible date."

He pulled up to the Parthenon and the valet opened her door. He got out and traded the keys for a ticket, then gave Sharon his arm again to walk with her in to the restaurant. The hostess greeted them and once he gave his name, they were sat right away. He'd pulled strings ahead of time to get them a quiet booth in the corner.

"So Sharon, do you miss being the Senator?"

Rose's Brownstone

< Everybody seemed to be in good spirits since the last time he had seen most of them, which was a good thing. Nobody could say any of them weren't resilient and quick on their feet. Danny offered Zizi some wine and she seemed to be a little bit stressed out. After he let go of Oracle's embrace, he scanned the room trying to get a read on tonight's party guests. There were two people he had never seen, both male, both somewhat obnoxious. The blonde was hitting on the grandma and the dark hair one seemed to be deeply concerned with Oracle's state of mind. It was a curious situation to say the least. >

"I just found out my mother has been working with The White Queen of the Hellfire Club since before I was born. I can deal..with this."

< Thankfully Oracle decided to break the ice a bit. >

Oracle: "Where are manners? Simon, this is Gabe Jerome. He designed the new security system for the Sanctuary."

Gabe: "Nice to meet you."

"Likewise."

< Simon gave Gabe a firm handshake. The only thing he had been doing besides drinking and baring his soul to investors, was lifting and his biceps were proof of it. >

Oracle: "And that is his associate, Luke Ramsey. Simon is starting up a new charitable organization."

Cypher said:

Oracle: "And of course any technical services you need, you got your IT right here. How are things going, getting it off the ground?"

< It was clear there was some kind of connection between Gabe and Zizi, but he wasn't sure what. It was clear they knew each other well, and in arriving here tonight, he could see why Danny had invited him here. He had mentioned that maybe Simon was looking the wrong places for help, and that it might be in front of him from unlikely sources. Perhaps the people in this room could lead him towards where he wanted to go. Though he was so very tired of performing for his supper, he had no other choices, and at least the people in this room had a bit of stake in the future he was trying to create. >

"You guys are kind. Really, I thank you. Right now, the organization is non-existent. I mean, I have all the proper documentation, the charter, the big picture ideas, but everything else is a bit cloudy right now. For the most part, anyway. Danny just joined the team. He's been a city planner, served on city council, and he's lived here his whole life. He has connections I just can't get to, and with my mother having every other door slammed in my face right now, connections that I need."

< he laughed a bit embarrassed. >

"So I'm in that part of the creative process where I'm trying not to take hand outs from people I respect..at least not until I know I can repay them or have them see the physical reward of their time or donations. What I am really saying here is...I'd love to give you my venmo information."

< Simon laughed. >

"But really you should at least know what it is I plan on doing. Vanguard will be somewhat of a hybrid charitable foundation as well as a network of social services, specifically for the mutant population in the city, and before long..the world. In the wake of The Purifiers attack on the city, and what happened here...at the orphanage. I couldn't just not do anything anymore. We need to get the word out. Where are safe neighborhoods for mutants to live? Where can mutants get healthcare that has been reviewed and analyzed. We need access to basic human rights. We deserve to be protected as much as our non mutant counterparts - and my mission is to push for legislation and reform for those rights, and until that happens, I am going to make sure I protect our kind by any means necessary.."

< pausing. >

"Short of terrorism of course. I just mean, if I need to bash a few heads down, hack into a few systems, cause a little social anarchy, I'm willing to do it. I still believe that mutants and humans can have a peaceful existence, but I can no longer WAIT for that to happen.."

"Be the change you wish to see and all that."

< Simon grabbed a glass of wine and took a long swig, until he realized it was Chardonnay, one of his mother's favorite poisons. The wine turned bitter in his mouth as he too went for the scotch, a refresher from the last drink he had a few hours ago. >

Cypher said:

< Simon watched as Gabe made his exit. He turned to Zizi. >

"This is more action this house has seen in quite some time. I'm glad there are so many Birds of Prey around. And it looks like the clandestine issue is being dealt with. I'm sorry I haven't checked in with anyone in a minute. Rose..is she doing better? I've been so worried about her. These kids need her."

< He lowered his tone. >

"I need her these days. She's been my sounding board over the last few months. Really a beacon of support. I just never thought she might need that support back. She's always so strong. It was a mistake to underestimate her in that way."

< Simon smiled. >

"You look really pretty tonight, Zizi. It's nice to see you in a setting that isn't covered with blood or littered with violence. I'm not sure what we should be doing right now."

< He looked down at his cup. >

"Oh, that's right. Drinking."

< thinking >

"Are things any better with your team? I talked to Sharon earlier..I'm not entirely sure what happened with you guys..but I think I might have broken through to her. She hugged me. That's good right?"

The Secret Garden - Rose's Brownstone

:: Zizi wanted red wine and that was what she could get. He was glad that Simon had arrived and eased a bit of the tension. Rae was definitely a trip but she wasn't everybody's cup of team. In short she was totally obnoxious. It had just been awhile since Danny had been with Rae around people who didn't already know her pretty intimately. As Ramsey seemed to occupy Rae's time, Danny placed the glass of red wine in Zizi's hands as herself, Gabe and Simon began to talk about his organization. Danny's eyes lit up. This was where things happened. Not at big corporations, but in talking to like minded people. Speaking of which. ::

Alycia Barnett said:
The law is what keeps order, it's what ensures that RIGHTS are recognized, respected, PROTECTED AND ENFORCED if necessary, it protects the weak, and deters those who think that bad behavior and lawlessness are acceptable. It protects the private citizen from the abuses of the corporation, and ensures that victims of crime have a voice that will be heard. Without the law, and those of us who interpret it, society would break down in the worst way.

:: And then came another good point. ::

Tachyon said:
Well said, and I greatly respect your faith in the law, no doubt connected to your adroitness in navigating it. As for myself, my Father realized that the rich were able to systematically steal from the poor amazing artifacts that made them more powerful and the wretches who were robbed ever the more desperate. Once I knew what I could do I started taking them back. I will not pretend that I was on the side of law that YOU occupy, but I most certainly considered myself on the side of what it's just and right. Perhaps you can show me how those three concepts can cohabitate.

:: Danny could sense that the city like conversations like this. There were still people here who were willing to talk things out. Come to educated and compromising situations. The timing seemed perfect. He made his way closer to Alycia and Xavier. ::

"Good to see you again, Alycia. Particularly in such a peaceful moment. On behalf of the city, I'd greatly like to thank you for your service.."

:: He glanced down for a moment and smiled. ::

"And your shoes. They're frickin' amazing."

:: He smiled and shook Xavier's hand. ::

"Nice to formally meet you, Xavier."

:: Danny guided Alycia's eye over to Simon as he spoke. ::

Longshot said:

:: smirking ::

"They're cute when they're young, right?"

:: Danny took a sip of wine, his arms crossed, both of them just watching Simon speak. ::

"It's good to see somebody passionate about something GOOD these days. Simon Pratt. He's one of the good ones..or rather, I know he's gonna be one of the good ones. The city protects those who protect it, and he's getting a lot of brownie points right now."

:: He looked over at Alycia. ::

"You know..he was so convincing in my bar earlier that I decided to work for him. I've worked for this city in some kind of capacity for almost my whole life. I think I can get him in the right direction. But..he's a little rough around the edges."

[flatly]

"He's spoiled. And he's just realizing he's spoiled. So he's trying to do everything on his own..which, I think he needs to. He needs help, but he wants to do it by his own hand. He doesn't want donations from all his super friends and free things because they believe in him. Simon wants this to be his. That's not to say that there aren't other...ways to help the boy, should one feel inclined."

"Like a kick ass legal counsel in his pocket for instance?"

:: Danny slyly took another sip of his wine and winked at Alycia. ::

"Don't worry, I won't hard sell you. But you could really help that kid out, or at least point him in a direction to get someone good on retainer if you can't. He wants to do all the things you are talking about. He wants to ensure mutants are protected under the law, which we both know they aren't. We aren't even a protected class."

:: His gaze wondered back over to Simon as he continued to give his schpeel and he smiled a bit. ::

"Who knows? Maybe Simon can really get some stuff done in this city. I mean look at him. The media may have made fun of him before, but he's well spoken, got the rags to riches thing down, and..he's got a good heart. And...Rae was right, he's got a nice, tight, compact little ass. Eventually...the people will listen to him."

:: Danny laughed. ::

"An endorsement of Vanguard by Charope or a light partnership..it could be a game changer. All I am saying is maybe take a meeting. See what he really has to say. It might surprise you."

:: He looked at Alycia's glass. It was nearly empty. ::

"And judging by the way you gulped down that wine just now, you probably really don't wanna think or talk about work. Sorry, but you don't get second chances, am I right? Can I refill your glass?"

Danny keeps growing on me! :D
Xavier drank in the myriad interactions in the room. This was something he always found interesting, seeing people doing the social dance. Rae and Ramsey setting up a rendezvous. Gabe and Elizabeth stumbling around each other. Danny and Rae forming a phalanx around Rose's mind in order to support her as she...well, he was really speculating to go any farther but it seemed obvious that she was MERCURIAL in the recent past and that her ability to deal with the loss of her children was the reason.

And then there was Alycia and himself. He had no idea what was going on but he was happy to ride the wave and see where it took him, if for no other reason than to debate the role of law and whether it could properly regulate all interactions or whether vigilantism had its place given what they as a team were prepared to do. And that ass. Just saying.

Simon made his way in and spoke of a Vanguard organization that he had started. It seemed that it needed capital and he was doing a shitty job of asking for it. Though in truth it was the end of the day and it was possible that he was tired of begging. So Xavier resolved to do something about that as Simon offered his Venmo.

Also, please relay your physical address. If I see something or someone that can help, then I know where to send them.

This city was bloated with seedy characters with money that they did not earn. It would be a simple thing for a few piles of this to make it over to Vanguard, perhaps do some good instead of bad. He tucked the thought into the back of his mind and refocused back on Alycia as Danny came by...

A Moment of Escape

:: The altercation with Persephone and Mystique had left more questions than answers. She was glad to have been by Blaze's side, but the whole situation. Standing with The Six, watching them claw at Persephone, it was all a bit draining and Vivica had been up for the last fifty six hours straight. Once she made contact with Oracle and updated her and took a moment to vent with Isis and Richard, Vivica took the opportunity to LEAVE The Parthenon and get a little time for herself. Promising Oracle that she would update her as frequently as possible, she was given the green light to go home and get some rest. But she didn't go home. She went to the only other place in the city where she could be herself. She went to Belle Epoque - her gallery in Chelsea. ::

:: It was quiet and serene. The art hanging in the exhibit space was cloaked in darkness, adding all the more edge to it as she made her way through the exhibit space and through the back door which led to her studio space, where she created her own art. Where she expressed herself. Her sanctuary. ::

:: Tying her braids up into a loose bun, she lit many tea candles around her studio and plugged her phone into the speaker system, streaming some music as she mindlessly cleaned up around herself, before prepping her palette and gathering her brushes. She lit a joint that her assistant Andre had given to her as she melted into the scenery around her. The music began to play. ::

BANKS - Crowded Places

:: Finally, among the soft light and tea candles in her art studio and the haunting beauty of the music playing through her speakers, she was faced with a blank canvas, which brought her immediate comfort. Vivica was a smart woman. Methodical. Logical even. But at a young age she had found escape in the world of art. Of course there were rules to be followed, things she had learned during her education that told what was good art and what was pure garbage. But the second Vivica had the brush in her hand, the second she saw a landscape of white just begging to be filled, she was not guided by her education, or her refined hand. She was guided by her soul, by her intuition, by the things that she wanted to say that bubbled just beneath the surface of her skin, waiting for her to take that brush and to dip it in paint. Waiting to express itself. ::

:: As she stood in front of the canvas, slowly taking a hit of the joint she had just lit, followed by a glass of blush colored wine, she was reminded of the greats. Though he was rather a cliche and obvious inspiration, she always enjoyed what Pablo Picasso had to say about art. In fact, she much preferred what Picasso had to say about art rather than his art itself. He spoke of art as just another way of keeping a diary. Said that the purpose of art is to wash away from the soul the "dust of everyday life." That taste was the enemy of creativeness. ::

:: To her left, against the bay window in her studio, she saw the pieces that Julian, a young man under the care of Rose that she had connected with after the Purifier event. He was using his telekinesis to paint, to express the chaos he felt in the world. And his art was beautiful. It was severe and abstract and colorful. He may not have known it, but he was authoring an entirely new form of art. Julian was too young to realize that he was part of a whole new movement of art. He was expressing himself with his god given power, in the most beautiful of ways, to the point that it made Vivica question her own art. Was she doing enough? Was this gallery enough. What was her message anymore. What was she trying to say? It was the same series of questions she asked herself every time she started a new piece. It was that lack of belief, and that insecurity that made her art good, because it caused her to pour so much of herself into it. ::

"Black."

:: For Ava. Her hand guided her as black filled the canvas in baited strokes and hard edges. For as far as she had come, she couldn't forget the night that she had nearly died at the hands of Ava Cassadine. She attacked the canvas with wild abandon, releasing her anger at the woman who had tricked so many people she cared about into believing that they could trust her. That they could love her. ::

"Orange."

:: For Zach. For the way that he had brought her back to life. Had made the warmth of the sun that much warmer. He was the one who had given her a new life, saved her from the bold black abyss that was Ava. The orange dulled the black but remained bright on it's own. ::

"Green."

:: For Simon. She never thought he would be a part of this world. But it had turned out that he was deeply connected to it all. Deeper than she was. His mother had stood alongside Diana for decades, but even knowing that..it didn't stop him from trying to do the right thing. She watched as her hand guided her, edging the green into the places where it didn't seem to fit, where it didn't belong. Because that was Simon. His luck hadn't run out. He had been such a good friend to her since her return to New York. A nod to her past, but he never brought it up. Only supported her. ::

"Red."

:: For Cameron. Taking another hit of her joint, she finagled it into her roach clip and sat it to the side as she looked at the canvas and the acrylic red paint on her palette. Blinking for a few moments, she took her fingers and she pressed it against the goopy bright red paint, feeling it in her hands as if it were Cameron, as if she were feeling him. The moment taking over her, a few tears welled up in her eyes as she pressed her entire right hand into the red paint before slapping it against the canvas with bitter emotion. He had been her brother. When her mother died, Cameron became her only family. Sure, she had aunts and cousins and things like that, but he was with her every day. He held her hand and together they created an empire. She had given so much. Her hand remained in contact with the canvas as she flexed it, causing her handprint to be thick and stiff against the canvas, superceding the other colors. ::

"Friends show their love in times of trouble, not in happiness."

:: Somebody brilliant said that once, and as she removed her hand from the canvas, she wiped the remaining tears from her eyes. Cameron had been there for her highs and some of her lows, but when she needed him the most, he was invisible. He was gone. And he had never truly repented for that. Only smoothed things over. She cradled her painted hand before balling it into a fist and shaking it at the canvas, causing it to spatter red across all spaces of the painting, which was fitting to Vivica. He always consumed her whole life, it was fitting that remnants of that crept into her work. ::

:: She looked at the painting. It was far from complete. It was a work in progress. Like she was. But the joint was finally getting to her, and though she required little to no sleep, Vivica had been in OVERDRIVE the last few days, and it was beginning to wear on her. ::

:: Vivica wiped her forehead, washed her hands and stood over her painting for a few moments, before climbing a small ladder that led to a loft set up. This was a place Vivica liked to hole up in when she was working on her own exhibits and shows. Falling into the plush white down comforter, Vivica laid there for a moment, thinking of the days to come. She had come to New York because she thought she had found peace. Thought that she was unflappable. The city did as it always did. Proved whatever you knew to be true false. ::

:: But every battery eventually needs to be recharged and Vivica was at that point. The music continued to play, the soft light of the candles flickered and filled the space around her, and the feathers from her down comforter consoled her, wrapped around her, as she allowed herself to drift off..and sleep. For the first time in two days. And it felt good. ::

i think this is the first "inside" look we've had in her gallery, this was a nice post too!
Rae: "Naughty boy."

Ramsey grinned.

"You don't know the half of it."

Rae: "Well...I am due for an oil change. Don't worry though, my chassis is just fine."

Ramsey made it a point to let his eyes wander down Rae's body, not bothering to hide it. He nodded with a sly smile.

"Sure is..."

This lady was a spitfire and he fucking loved it. And she had the body of a thirty year old. He had most definitely hit the jackpot as far as sexy bomb cougars went by helping Gabe out with this job. And the best part was, she seemed like the type of broad to enjoy a good fuck and not want to cuddle afterwards. Now did he enjoy the occasional cuddle? Sure. But he enjoyed sleep more....and any man in their right mind knew you do NOT get a decent night sleep when cuddling is involved. Your arm is awkwardly under the lady, it goes numb, you can't move, she's laying all over you....Not. Fucking. Comfortable. But Rae? Yeah, she seemed like that type that you bang then call the next day to bang again. Best of both fucking words. Ramsey was for sure gonna enjoy this little liaison for however long it lasted.

"Lady, you're a fine piece. No disrespect of course. My pops taught me well enough not to piss a good lady off. I enjoy my nuts right where they are."

Rae: "Call me "lady" again and you'll get to see WHY your father said that to you."

Ramsey let out a chuckle, holding his hands up defensively.

"Point taken dexterous, gorgeous, Rae Ann. My pops also taught me fine women like you [grins] are always right."

Rae: "Though I am sure there are better places you might want your manhood closer to."

"Ohhh most definitely."

Okay, he needed to speed through this installation, hand it off to Links, let her do the heavy lifting so he could do some heavy....

Gabe: "Sorry to have to keep running in and out, but I need to to go over some specs with Rams before he starts. And at this rate he'll be passed out before he starts the job."

Ramsey was immediately snapped out of his train of thought hearing Gabe shit talk his ability to hold liqour.

"Bullshit I will. You know I can drink you under the table, Jerome."

Gabe: "You wish. [gesturing to the door] Common hot stuff."

"Aw ya flatterer. [to Rae] Don't you go nowhere....should be done in no time."

Rae: "I'm as free as they come, but even I am too old to fuck some random dude in a bedroom, coat closet of bathroom of the house of somebody I look at like a daughter. But I'm not opposed to the first part of that equation."

"Aww your breakin' my heart."

Ramsey quipped with a mega watt smile. But he got it, Rae Ann had standards and fucking some random bloke in this lady's house was too much even for her. Hell, he didn't want to get his ass fired, so he was on the same page as her. But he sure as hell needed her digits before Gabe dragged his ass out of there.

Rae: "Next time you feel frisky, why don't you give me a call. We can...unleash the wallaby within, so to speak."

Ramsey took her card, reading it out loud.

"Rae Reynolds - Psychic - Medium - Faith Healer - Minister - Bitch"

He looked up with wide eyes.

"Bitch?....I like it."

Pointing to Gabe with a nod. Rae was a medium...dead people, NOW he understood.

"Dead people...I GOT it now."

Referring to Gabe's earlier comment about talking to dead people. Rae gave him a wink and Ramsey wiggled his eyebrows with a smirk before walking toward Gabe.

Gabe: "Should be quick. I'll be back before food hits the table."

"Look at you flirting with little Barbara Gordon!"

Gabe teased in jest, giving Gabe a hard pat on the back and an overtly happy smile down at Zizi. Damn she was still gorgeous....she was definitely the type to take back to mum. Luckily for Gabe his mum was dead. They began to walk toward the hallway.

Gabe: [with a chuckle] "Get off it!.... Wait you know Barbara Gordon but you don't know the difference between Clark Kent and Peter Parker"

"Shit....I remember the hot ones."

They both laughed as they made their way to the kitchen where Rose was. Gabe was in front of him and stopped in the doorway, peeking in. Ramsey lifted a brow with a what the fuck expression....he was acting like he was scared of this broad. Looking over Gabe's shoulder, that's when she saw the purple head lady dragging a large knife across the counter with a demonic look on the parts of her face that weren't enshrouded in shadows. Ramsey's eyes went wide.

"The fuuuuck....."

Gabe quickly shushed him and elbowed him hard in the ribs.

"OW!"

Ramsey rubbed his ribs with a slightly pained and annoyed expression on his face as Gabe introduced him.

"Lookin' sharp."

A subconscious joke about the knife she was still holding that just happened to spill out of his mouth. That always seemed to happen with him.

"Wha...no!...the food! I love me some Italian food. Deeelicious. Anyways....Luke [extends hand out] nice to meet ya."

Shit...he wondered if Rae could fuck dead people? Was that a thing? Was that wrong? He did some pretty wrong shit in his day....Focus. The lady seemed nice enough. Maybe she over seasoned her sauce and was pissed. He just hope he got his hand back....
