The Clocktower

Ashley: I never got to see one myself, but my grandfather killed one once.

"No shit? Can you imagine, seeing a shadow across the ground, and looking up for the beast that cast it? And what a fight it must have been. Your Grandfather had to be a LEGEND."

He remarked before pulling his bottle from between the couch cushions and taking another swig. He nodded when Ashley asked if Morgan could really time travel, and they turned back to the movie. She fed him a crab rangoon amidst her commentary on the Star Wars reference, and her initial thought that it was just them making up a terrible story. He rolled his eyes emphatically, a smile on his lips.

"You're lucky your blind hatred of all things Star Wars is not a deal breaker for me."

He teased after tickling her, which made her laugh, and provoked a chuckle from him as well.

"I'm surprised you can even stomach a movie with a Star wars reference IN IT."

Ashley: I guess anything’s good with hot men and dragons in it.

"I GUESS so... the men don't do much for me, though the dragons are awesome."

Ashley: Look at her go! Serves them right. Morons.

"Uh, aren't we supposed to side with the humans in this movie? Whoa-- DAMN, that dude got SNATCHED UP!"

He exclaimed. She mentioned that the next part was good, as he finished eating and set his plate on the coffee table. He reclined back and put his arm around her.

"Matthew Mcconaughey is such a cowboy in this movie."

He said with an amused smile, taking a sip of his beer.

Molloy's

Delilah: But you obviously underestimate my feminine wiles.

He chuckled. He knew himself to be defenseless against her wiles, so maybe she had a point. He asked her what she was willing to part with in the inevitable circumstance that she lost this friendly and not-at-all competitive game of darts.

Delilah: Oh that’s no fun - you don’t get to choose your own. If *I* win, you have to sing Born in the USA karaoke.

A crooked, almost devious smirk struck his mouth.

You DEFINITELY shouldn't have said that.

"Ok. If I win, you have to jump out of an airplane with me."

He said, and he raised his glass to her toast, 'to new friends'.

"Cheers."

He replied, and tossed back the whiskey. He half sat on a high barstool next to their table, watching her take position in front of the dart board.

"Hey hey now, stay behind that line."

There was a tablet mounted on a stand at the table, and he found it was installed with an app to track the score for their game. He set them up for 501, and then found that he could also order drinks and food from the tablet.

oh good.... let's see.... ah, an appetizer sampler, perfect.

He thought, and put the order in so they could have something to munch on.

The Hellfire Club -- Catacombs

Kelly seemed hesitant about Haleigh's offer, suspicious, as if she were looking for the signs of a trap. Haleigh was clearly amused by this. It was Kelly's turn to chose her words carefully. It was almost like the Black Queen realized very suddenly that Haleigh was some kind of dangerous, wild beast.

Kelly: I agree that there needs to be good faith among the courts, Scion. My court will soon be full, and I can make it beneficial for you to welcome future members of the black court.

"Well shit, I hope you bring in a man or two. There's a fucking overload of estrogen in this place."

She observed, and nodded in thanks as Kelly provided her with a refill on her champagne. She lifted the glass to her lips and sipped. Kelly discussed her children somewhat. Haleigh found the tidbit about Cobra to be very intriguing, but she kept her expression mildly even. Not guarded, not overly animated, just a calm and steady interest in what Kelly was willing to share.

Hearing Kelly talk about the Purifiers, and the targeting of Cass and Cameron in particular, Haleigh had to force herself to sit still, to remain quiet and composed, and it wasn't easy. Instinctively, she didn't want Cameron anywhere near this place.

Kelly: Hmm.. perhaps there IS something you have to offer me. My [feigning maternal love] son.

"What, you want a Black Prince?"

She asked, drinking a little more champagne. Kelly mentioned Alison, saying that she'd drowned her daughter in her own timeline, and intended to do so in this one as well. Haleigh couldn't help herself, she laughed incredulously.

"Good fucking luck with that."

Kelly: So I guess here we are. I cannot let you into our labs, not without supervision or permission granted by The White Queen. You belong to her, and if you turn out to be as...infamous as your reputation, I want that blood to be on Diana's hands, not mine.

"I'll get the approval you need."

She sneered.

Kelly: If she grants this, I can teach you what you wish to learn alongside Alice, in exchange for your diplomacy with regard to me and my court. When my court is full, you will give your own endorsement, you will take them under your wing, make them appear valuable to Malice, a courtesy which will be reciprocated to you.

"Very well."

She answered. She hadn't met any of these prospective court members yet, but she didn't see any reason why she couldn't give them a chance, and in fact, she probably would have tried to build alliances any way.

Kelly: And if you throw in a little message or two to Cameron every now and then that I might not be the monster we both know I absolutely am, I will see how quickly I can get that Bishop PLEASURE model delivered to your quarters.

She knew immediately that if she refused this request it would be cause for suspicion. She didn't miss a beat with her response.

"Sounds like we have ourselves an agreement."

And so...

<< Shadow Weaver and Arsenal make their final farewells to their friends and family as a swirling portal opens, waiting to take them from one side of the world to the other, from the Parthenon, to Minerva's Aerie. Shadow Weaver's heart was touched by the outpouring from more than one member of her extended Six family, and her heart was softened. She knew that leaving for now was the tactically sound thing to do, and as MorningStar said, she would be needed AFTERWARD.>>

<< If there were any lingering doubts, they were removed by the heartfelt reseponse from the young Richard Martin, Dominique's ward. And the certainty that her relationship with Cameron King would further be restored was confirmed as she spoke to her, and embraced her, affirming his own affection and bond with her daughters, and herself. >>

<< As they pass through the portal, they are greeted in the Great Room of Minerva's Mansion by Harbinger and Hazel. They will be quite safe, and the Six can now get to work!>>

-------------------------------

<< Rose's dinner party was turning out to be very relaxing and good natured for everybody in attendance. The drinks were flowing, the ambience was light and bright. As a true Italian, Rose rarely glanced at the clock while entertaining. Things would unfold naturally. As soon as the food was cooked to perfection and the scents traveled to the guest's noses. After another hour of drinks and appetizers, the guests settled at the table for an amazing italian feast. Steak fagioli, eggplant parmesan, meatballs, bread, cheese plates. It was a full italian spread and although everybody had been talkative before dinner, there was a peaceful silence while people enjoyed the perfectly cooked food in various states of appreciation. >>

<< Once their stomachs were full, Rose decided that it was time for a little pick me up, to fight off the sleepy attitudes that were sure to follow after so much food and conversation. A well traveled woman, she enjoyed a Latin American custom of a nice cold glass of tequila after dinner to sip on and cap off the evening. As Rose brought the glasses, each with a large orb like ice cube at the center, she couldn't help but to notice the palpable chemistry that the night had brought out in others. Gabe and Zizi seemed relaxed and comfortable around each other, and the energy permeating from Rae was light and fun. The prospect of Ramsey had done her soul a bit of good. Xavier and Alycia seemed to enjoy a nice, flowing conversation, a real meeting of the minds, and a curiosity that urged them to want to learn more about the other. Alycia was already moving on from Cameron, and in this moment, the hurt, the anger and RAGE she felt toward him and Haleigh was taking a back seat as well. Danny and Simon also fit in to this special evening, establishing or strengthening ties with others that were connected to Rose, ultimately making the foundation of support for Rose stronger, and sewing the seeds of communication, partnership and even perhaps friendship in the most unlikely of places. >>

<< Yes, Rose sat at the table, allowing conversations to flow the way they should and for a moment, Rose felt at peace. All of these people were gathered here because they cared about her. It was the first time she had entertained like this since The Purifiers attack. In recent days she had felt alone and angry, but right now, the people who stood by her were present and accounted for, and this brought her comfort. >>

--------------------------------------------

<< As if the the magickal vibe of Rose's dinner party seemed to permeate through the city, across town at The Parthenon, Sharon and Darren were enjoying a rather good first date. This had been a long time coming for Sharon, and now that Rae had helped her get a bit of peace, she was paying it forward. She was ready to live her life, and Darren seemed like a well timed reward for her turning over a new leaf! He was kind and patient. Honest and engaging. And if she squinted hard enough, she could see the faintest hints of her deceased husband, especially when he smiled widely at her, which may have been strange, but to Sharon, it made Darren a perfect candidate to test the water. As their meal wore on at Ambrosia, the two went a little deeper with each other, now that they were relaxed, and seemed to be falling in synch. >>

---------------------------------

<< Things were not as peaceful and relaxed in the underground levels of The Parthenon that compromised the current headquarters for The Six. The energy between Morgan and Cass was tense, and it was time for Morgan to assert her leadership of the team and get Cass to fall in line, but it would not be that simple. She had just embraced The Six as her family, only to watch it get nearly destroyed in one night. Not to mention the fact that The Hellfire Club had brought back somebody from her past that she was not anticipating. Somebody that she cared about more than she was wanting to admit to the others. A meeting of the minds was required, and just where that conversation would go was yet to be seen.>>

------------------------------------

<< Several blocks away, The Black Queen and The White Princess had seemed to do just that. Both approaching each other differently than they had in the past, they found a way that they could work together in the future. Scion was pulling out all the stops in an effort to save her sister, and Talisman was worried that Scion was still not presenting herself in an honest manner. Where this alliance or conversation would end up was anybody's guess. But one thing was clear - things were yet again shifting in The Hellfire Club.>>

The Parthenon- War Room II

<< The night wore on, and a bright, low hanging moon glowed across the city.>>

<< Morgan and Blaze had gotten their mom, and Michael out of harm's way, freeing The Six to really "get to work.">>

<< But while others had varying degrees of success with their evening so far, Morgan had another heavy task on her hands, confronting Cass, a.k.a Ruby. >>

<< Nicolas insisted on remaining, and Morgan didn't object. >>

<< the two waited for Cass to return to the War Room II now.>>

<< Spellbinder, wearing her latest outfit of the evening, slowly paced around the War Room.>>

Well...we got mom and Mike to safety.

<< she says to Nicolas she continues to slowly pace.>>

We needed to get her out of their immediate reach.

<< She looks at Nicolas.>>

I think now...she understands that we weren't doing this to belittle her.

NO ONE is exempt from an attack by the Inner Circle. They've attacked everyone from from Simon and Vivica, to Bishop, to Zach and Alycia...and it would be something right out of Malice OR Talisman's playbook to send someone after my mom.

She is plenty powerful and capable, but like I said, we needed to remove any "low hanging fruit" as they try to pick and chose where they strike at us!

<< she stops pacing and faces Nicolas>>

You know, IF the two of them (Black Widow and Persephone) are salvagable, they're going to have to LIVE with the knowledge and memories of what they've done, how far they've gone, the people they've hurt and nearly killed...the relationships they've TRAMPLED on.

<< She HAD talked with Haleigh, she'd felt her sister's feelings, but things always had a way of getting their darkest and most complicated right before the TURNING POINT, and so, Morgan wasn't counting anything out just yet.>>

And what about this WOMAN who saved Persephone from Firebird. Who IS she?! She had more than a passing resemblance TO Blaze!

<< she paused looked at the chronometer on the wall. Her violet eyes narrow>>

WHERE is that girl (Cass)!?I sent for her almost 15 minutes ago!

<< She turned to Nicolas>>

If she thinks TRYING me, during THIS of all times, is the smart or cute thing to do? She'll REGRET IT.

It's time Ruby EXPLAINED herself! How is it, that while there's a CRISIS encompassing us, SHE found the time and deemed it appropriate to play tiptoe through the tulips...with a member of the INNER CIRCLE no less!?

She better have something BETTER to offer in the way of an explanation than what she said earlier...

Earlier...

"I know I said this earlier, but I can't get over how amazing you look...."

He said, stealing glances when traffic allowed. After a few minutes of listening to the radio, he laughed at himself.

"Also, I feel like I should be honest with you, I haven't done this in a long time, so I apologize in advance if I'm a terrible date."

[How could he think THAT?]

<<FLASH!>>

Sharon and Darren were enjoying a rather good first date. This had been a long time coming for Sharon, and now that Rae had helped her get a bit of peace, she was paying it forward. She was ready to live her life, and Darren seemed like a well timed reward for her turning over a new leaf! He was kind and patient. Honest and engaging. As their meal wore on at Ambrosia, the two went a little deeper with each other, now that they were relaxed, and seemed to be falling in synch.

Now...

He'd pulled strings ahead of time to get them a quiet booth in the corner.

"So Sharon, do you miss being the Senator?"

[ Sharon looked up at the ceiling for a moment, then back at Darren. He knew who she really was. He was one of the few in the city that actually put "two and two" together about Sharon Kelly and the Silver Swan.]

[sighing]

I've not let myself think about that part of my life too much.

It's almost like I've tried to.... "mute" that time in my life.

[ Despite her ground breaking work as an outspoken mutant rights adovcate, as well as a strong, vocal opponent of Mystech, and the corruption they spread across all parts of society, including government.]

What lead me to become a senator....and what ended up killing me [Mystech]...and bringing me back, in the form you see before you now...

For a while, I clung to the memories of my life as a wife and mother, BEFORE that night at Arklay mansion. And then after I lost Kyle and Bobby, everything after that, up until my...

[ She looked around for a moment, but there was enough "buzz" from collective conversations, and they were in a secluded corner of ambrosia]

...death at the hands of Master Mold...it all felt like a wild ride.

Until VERY recently, I had come to RESENT my time spent as a senator. It felt like the people [ some on the Six, some on the Birds of prey] didn't understand OR appreciate what that involved...and what it COST ME, being such a staunch, PUBLIC ally to them.

But I had a few encounters in the pasts few days (Simon and Rae) that helped remind me just WHY I became a senator, what that was a response to, and how my work as a senator helped to ensure that other children would not suffer the same fate my son did.

That part of my life is as essential to who I am NOW as any other.

I operate in a different role now...but my driving motivation is still the same.

I sometimes wondered what would be better...if I could return to being a senator? OR if I'd....

[ She looked at Darren with a solemn expression on her face, and in her silver eyes]

....if I'd stayed dead.

Would I have more power as a martyr, rather than as the..."vengeful Silver Swan?"

They were in the War Room waiting for Cassandra as Morgan paced. Nicolas decided that staying for this meeting would be best, and with the mood that Morgan had regarding Cassandra, he knew this was a wise move.

Well...we got mom and Mike to safety.

<< she says to Nicolas she continues to slowly pace.>>

We needed to get her out of their immediate reach.

<< She looks at Nicolas.>>

I think now...she understands that we weren't doing this to belittle her.

Ma needed to go, that much is clear. No need for it to be anything about her being soft, but she has already been through a lot recently WITHOUT our involvement, Morgan. It is our turn to shoulder the burden and let her recover.

Nicolas stands to meet Morgan's height and then some.

Mike IS catching hell from her though! But he has a way with her that works for their relationship. So they will be fine. What may NOT be fine, however, is the aftermath of this. People have a right to respond how they wish to what these former sisters have done, assuming they return. And what then? Are we..

<<gesturing between the two of them>>

prepared to defend them physically from revenge-seekers from our side? What is the end-game assuming we get to the other side of THIS part? Do I cross swords mentally with Cam for trying to snatch Ava forward at all costs? What if Persephone comes back with Haleigh but refuses to cede control to Ava? And Haleigh...gutted Bishop like a fish. Bishop cannot hide his desire for revenge from me. But he is also Alexia's father. At some point WE, in this room, may have secondary decisions to make that will stem from what comes of the end of this, one way or the other.

Morgan continued to pace, her agitation with that situation seeming to bleed into Cassandra's situation. Whatever made the psychic vamp think she could downplay things while in the room with Cameron AND Nicolas?

And what about this WOMAN who saved Persephone from Firebird. Who IS she?! She had more than a passing resemblance TO Blaze!

Nicolas was willing Cassandra here even as he was trying to make sure she did not get the "full Morgan" upon walking through the door....

The Sanctuary- Rose's brownstone

<< Rose cleared the table easily enough. Whatever some of them may have thought of her, one thing they could ALL agree on, was that the woman knew how to COOK! >>

As Rose brought the glasses, each with a large, glowing, orb-like ice cube at the center, she handed one to each of her guests>>

Here you are, a nice after-dinner tonic.

<< she hands a glass ice cold tequila withlarge, glowing, orb-like ice cube at the center, to each of them>>

A suitable way to cap a lovely, moon lit evening.

<< They would notice the low hanging, rather bright full moon outside, seen at various points from different windows in the brownstone.>>

It has been a most...trying time for me. The cards did not lie, I am facing challenges, THREATS that are unique. They have opened old wounds, and they echo a trauma that I have worked so hard to shield my children from.

And though I may have thought I was going to have to face these tests and trials alone, as I have in the past, my heart is very warmed by the support and care that I've received from all of you who are gathered here tonight.

<< She looked at Gabe.>>

Again, I thank you for working so quickly to provide me with a suitable alternative to Clandestine Inc's security.

<< She looks among them, and raises her glass. They noted her serene expression, and flowing purple hair. For some, like Simon, this was the Rose he was accustomed to seeing. For others, like Gabe and Zizi, this was a glimpse of the softer, and normally serene Rose...not the woman on the edge that they'd been seeing for the last day or so. Even Rae could see how calm, and pleased she was right now.>>

And now, under the light and power of the moon, Here's to peace, comfort, tranquility....

....and hope.

<< Rose knew better than most that it was never truly wise to rely on something as abstract as HOPE alone, but it COULD be BALM to one's soul. Even the smallest amount, if genuine, could see a person "through the night." And this moment, which everyone in this room helped make such a success, brought that to Rose.>>

<< And with that, she toasted with her guests, and they drank, and talked a bit more as Rose began preparing for the end of the evening.>>

<< Under other circumstances, Rose would offer "entertainment" in the form of tarot readings that some, like Simon, Danny, and Rae, knew were the REAL THING were Rose was concerned. Rae knew that Cartomancy was subset of Rose's power, one that had manifested at an early age, and was nurtured by her first adoptive mother, who was also a gifted fortune teller with low level precognitive abilities.>>

<< But tonight, under the watchful glow of the moon, Rose felt it better to let the hearts, minds and souls of those gather bask in their moonstruck presence, and help to push away the lingering negativity that had been visited upon the sanctuary by the likes of Cobra, Black Widow, and Dennis Nedry.>>

It has been my pleasure to have you as my guests, and I thank you all for coming tonight. I know some of you have to be going soon, but if anyone needs lodging for the evening, I have plenty of accommodation available.

<< Rae and Danny were staying over tonight, as was Alycia, who was filling in for Sharon, while she was out with Darren Hudson. But others, like Oracle, would be more comfortable back in her own dwelling at the Clocktower, and Rose understood that. Gabe, who put on a good face, was TERRIFIED of Rose, and that puzzled her, but even he saw a different side to her this evening. Perhaps it would put him at ease, as he accompanied Zizi back to the clocktower.>>

Simon? Perhaps you should stay tonight...for safety's sake?

The Clocktower

They talked about dragons, her mentioning that her grandfather had killed one.

Zach said:
"No shit? Can you imagine, seeing a shadow across the ground, and looking up for the beast that cast it? And what a fight it must have been. Your Grandfather had to be a LEGEND."

She rolled her eyes playfully.

“Of course he was. He wore one of the teeth around his neck until the day he died. Killing that thing is how he got the support to become king. And, you know, killing the last one.”

She pulled up her hair and turned her head so he could see her tattoo clearly.

“That’s why the dragon. It’s kind of a family thing.”

Not that her baring her neck was completely unintentional…

Zach said:
"You're lucky your blind hatred of all things Star Wars is not a deal breaker for me."

She scoffed and poked him in the chest.

“No, no, no, YOU’RE lucky I give you the time of day.”

They chatted about the movie as they finished eating, and then Zach stretched out and put his arm around her. She snuggled in against him, the warmth of his bare skin enveloping her like a warm blanket.

Zach said:
"Matthew McConaughey is such a cowboy in this movie."

“It’s totally sexy.”

She put her arm over his chest and rested her head on his shoulder. She really was tired, but she didn’t want to go to sleep, not yet. This really had almost been the perfect day – a couple of people left a bad taste in her mouth but that was all but forgotten. She couldn’t remember having a day like this, where she just had fun, just spent time with someone who was with her because he wanted to be not because he had to.

She planted a kiss on his chest with a smile, a silent thank you.

“What do you want to do tomorrow?”

The War Room II

Ma needed to go, that much is clear. No need for it to be anything about her being soft, but she has already been through a lot recently WITHOUT our involvement, Morgan. It is our turn to shoulder the burden and let her recover.

What do you think Blaze and I were trying to tell her earlier? She HAS endured enough, and she needs time to recover, without the ever present threat of our...erstwhile "teammates" (Black Widow and Persphone) attacking looming over her, and Michael as well.

<<sighing>>

Nicolas stands to meet Morgan's height and then some.

Mike IS catching hell from her though! But he has a way with her that works for their relationship. So they will be fine. What may NOT be fine...

<< she jolted a bit at the start of his next sentence, but then she REMEMBERED....>>

No...he's not talking about US...he doesn't know yet what I've done...

...however, is the aftermath of this. People have a right to respond how they wish to what these former sisters have done, assuming they return. And what then? Are we..

<<gesturing between the two of them>>

prepared to defend them physically from revenge-seekers from our side?

That's a damn good question.

But WE'RE not the ones who made the choice, THEY are.

They HAD to know that there'd be HELL TO PAY for this...what they've done!

<< She looks at Nicolas>>

What is the end-game assuming we get to the other side of THIS part? Do I cross swords mentally with Cam for trying to snatch Ava forward at all costs? What if Persephone comes back with Haleigh but refuses to cede control to Ava?

Then she'll have to be eliminated.

<< Morgan said coldly, even as she knew what that meant.>>

We'll not going to live in FEAR of her, and Ava is not going to be damned to suffer a life akin to "The three faces of eve."

The end game is simple. If they make it impossible for us to capture them, then they will be put down. We're not going to allow Malice to use some of our greatest strengths, and pieces of our very heart against us, AND We're not going to endanger, OR sacrifice anyone else on some naive notion. We're not going to live, nor will we allow our allies, associates and loved ones, to live in fear of being attacked at any given moment, or some psychological warfare by Malice.

We have the means to do MORE than most, even the gods and goddesses on OLYMPUS sometimes failed.

And Haleigh...gutted Bishop like a fish. Bishop cannot hide his desire for revenge from me.

He's no match for Haleigh. He'll only get himself killed, and that would be agony for Delilah. That's why she attacked him in the first place. To get at Delilah. He's a flatscan, and really HE should've been evacuated...but he'd never to listen to us, nor would he leave, even for his own sake.

But he is also Alexia's father.

<< Morgan exhaled and rolled her violet eyes, shutting them as she stretched her arms up for a moment.>>

Yes...I know. He's permanently tied to Delilah.

<< She hated that. But there was nothing she could do about it. If Delilah was willing to reject Hecate's offer to break the curse, that was enough to tell anyone how she felt, and honestly, she no longer felt the need to try and protect Delilah from Bishop or any OTHER bad choices she might make. She loved Delilah like a sister, but she must not, dare not, try to order her life in anyway. It was Delilah's choice...and so too would be the consequences. >>

At some point WE, in this room, may have secondary decisions to make that will stem from what comes of the end of this, one way or the other.

Haven't you heard?

I make decisions regardless of how anyone feels. I'm power mad, and controlling as ever.

<< she said bitterly.>>

Yet, no one stops to think about the fact that the choices other people make put me in the position to HAVE to make decisions that they don't like.

<< her agitation WAS apparent to Nicolas.>>

The fallout from all of this....

<< she shouted>>

SHIT...

....is going to burden us for the foreseeable future, and while people talk about having input, WHO is going to walk the road of actually DOING something?

I can. Alison can. You can. CAMERON even seems ready to....NOW. But the OTHERS? They're not ready, and I'm NOT going to apologize for doing what I NEED to do, NOR am I going to WAIT for anyone to decide if they AGREE with me.

That's MY sister [ Haleigh], who gave herself over to the woman responsible for nearly EVERYTHING BAD that has happened to ALL of us, our FAMILIES, before we were even BORN!

If ANYONE knows what kind of road out of HELL she's going to have to walk...it's ME. Damn near everything I've done SINCE the Inferno has been an attempt to balance the scales after what I did.

I don't blame anyone for that. It's my penance.

I don't think Haleigh was thinking about this, because she expected to DIE while in the clutches of her mother, but Malice isn't playing HER game.

<< she exhales and shakes her head>>

I meant what I said earlier. If ANY of them isn't ready to get to work? They can get the HELL OUT!

We don't have TIME to waste!

<< and speaking of time being wasted....CASS was LATE, and Morgan was ANGRY.>>

I hear you Morgan. But let's give her a chance. The past few days have been hard on all of us and not all of us can be expected to just suck it up. As for this old flame, let's remember that he startled her on-scene and she is already in a state. What I want is for her to just tell us the TRUTH. That I can deal with more than excuses. Now for you, I need you to count to 10, 100, whatever number you need to in order to relax a bit before she arrives, which should be any moment now.

Nicolas was willing Cassandra here even as he was trying to make sure she did not get the "full Morgan" upon walking through the door....

<< Morgan looked at Nicolas the way Judge Judy might look at someone in her court who just said something a bit ridiculous, but he DID know Cass better than she did. He'd had more time to bond with her, and his presence, and perhaps his mediation WOULD be needed.>>

She'll get back what she gives.

<< Morgan said flatly, as they waited for Ruby to arrive.>>

Delilah and Gavin discussed the terms of their bet.

Gavin said:
"Ok. If I win, you have to jump out of an airplane with me."

She punched him playfully on the arm.

“That’s a low blow. But okay. I’ll agree, only because I know I’m going to kick your butt.”

They toasted and downed their shots. She stepped up to take her turn.

Gavin said:
"Hey hey now, stay behind that line."

“Don’t I get to stand on the girl line?”

She batted her eyelashes mockingly, then grudgingly moved back behind the line. Gavin ordered food, which came surprisingly quickly, and Delilah was not one to ever turn down bar food. She munched when it wasn’t her turn, as they went back and forth. Delilah really was having a good time, despite the way the night had begun. Gavin was nice, and easy to talk to, and he wasn't trying to pick her up. She could just be herself, which felt freeing. It didn't feel like they had really only just met, and it was a good feeling.

“I didn’t realize how hungry I was. So glad you ordered.”

On his next turn, as he was about to go, she said loudly:

“Oh hey, isn’t that the Queen?”

Gabe winked at her and promised to not be gone long, to which she smiled. He really had become more attentive as the evening went on, which of course she was taking as a good sign, and her mood improved.

When Gabe and Ramsey had left, Simon chatted with her.

Simon said:
"This is more action this house has seen in quite some time. I'm glad there are so many Birds of Prey around. And it looks like the clandestine issue is being dealt with. I'm sorry I haven't checked in with anyone in a minute. Rose...is she doing better? I've been so worried about her. These kids need her."

Zizi patted Simon’s hand.

“You’ve been through a lot Simon, I’m sure Rose doesn’t expect you to apologize. You’re here now, which I’m sure means a lot to her. Or will, if she ever stops slaving in the kitchen.”

She smiled.

“Maybe I should offer to help her?”

Simon said:
"I need her these days. She's been my sounding board over the last few months. Really a beacon of support. I just never thought she might need that support back. She's always so strong. It was a mistake to underestimate her in that way."

“You’re a good friend, Simon. Everybody needs a shoulder to lean on at some time or another.”

He smiled and she returned it.

Simon said:
"You look really pretty tonight, Zizi. It's nice to see you in a setting that isn't covered with blood or littered with violence.

She blushed.

“Thank you, Simon, that’s really nice of you to say.”

Simon said:
”I'm not sure what we should be doing right now. Oh, that's right. Drinking."

“I feel like…”

She glanced towards the hallway where Gabe and Ramsey had exited.

“Like we have to keep living our lives. I mean, we have to do what we can about this problem, but huddling together terrified isn’t going to get us anywhere. Being on guard, helping each other, working together. That’s what we have to focus on. I think.”

Simon said:
"Are things any better with your team? I talked to Sharon earlier...I'm not entirely sure what happened with you guys…but I think I might have broken through to her. She hugged me. That's good right?"

She smiled.

“Very good. Very rare, it would seem.”

She shook her head.

“I don’t know if things are better or not. Sometimes I think yes but…I don’t know. I guess I’m just hoping that tomorrow will be better than today.”

Soon dinner was ready, and they all sat at the table. Everything smelled wonderful and tasted even better. Zizi accepted the after dinner glass of tequila that Rose offered with a sideways glance at Gabe that was almost mischievous. She did only take an ever so small sip of it, though.

Rose spoke of all them, and how much their support meant to her. It made Zizi feel good to be included in that number, maybe even considered a friend. Rose looked so calm and in control – it really did put Zizi’s mind at ease about her. There was no indication that anything was wrong. Perhaps now that she knew her children were safe, she was fine.

Rose said:
It has been my pleasure to have you as my guests, and I thank you all for coming tonight.

“Thank you for inviting us, Rose. The meal was fabulous – I don’t remember the last time I ate so well, truly. And if there’s ever anything I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask.”

She turned and looked at Gabe.

“Are you ready to go? Or do you need to stay and supervise?”

:: Cass had finished packing and was now in the elevator headed for the Six’s headquarters. Cass had heard from Morgan awhile ago and she thanked whoever was in charge up there that Morgan didn’t decide to have this “conversation” in Limbo. She had been scared, and manipulated, and controlled into doing what others wanted in her past and she was SO OVER IT. ::

:: The elevator doors opened and she stepped out, her heels clacking on the floor as she made her way to the War Room. Cass rolled her eyes as she heard Morgan bitching about her. ::

Morgan said:
WHERE is that girl (Cass)!?I sent for her almost 15 minutes ago!

<< She turned to Nicolas>>

If she thinks TRYING me, during THIS of all times, is the smart or cute thing to do? She'll REGRET IT.

It's time Ruby EXPLAINED herself! How is it, that while there's a CRISIS encompassing us, SHE found the time and deemed it appropriate to play tiptoe through the tulips...with a member of the INNER CIRCLE no less!?

She better have something BETTER to offer in the way of an explanation than what she said earlier...

:: Okay. THAT was IT. Cass turned back around and almost went back to the elevator when she heard Nicolas. ::

Nicolas said:
I hear you Morgan. But let's give her a chance. The past few days have been hard on all of us and not all of us can be expected to just suck it up. As for this old flame, let's remember that he startled her on-scene and she is already in a state. What I want is for her to just tell us the TRUTH. That I can deal with more than excuses. Now for you, I need you to count to 10, 100, whatever number you need to in order to relax a bit before she arrives, which should be any moment now.

Nicolas!

:: Nicolas was her friend, and it sounded like he was on HER side; that made Cass feel better. She cautiously approached the War Room. ::

Morgan said:
*flatly*: She'll get back what she gives.

UGH!!!

:: Cass breezed through the doorway. ::

“Keep your pants on, Morgan, I’m right here.”

:: She made her way over to the table and sat down, her hands folded on top of the table. ::

“You wanted to see me?”

Wow. Just wow. Nicolas looked at Cassandra as a quick flash of annoyed amazement went by, then he decided to start this off before it went on the wrong foot. Morgan would not like it, but it WAS best, given the mix of attitudes he was getting.

Cassandra. What I want is the whole truth of what happened at the Cathedral and, really, for you to just level with us, let us know what is going on. Because the less we know and understand, the easier it can be for people to make judgments and to be very upset because of the way things might look. I would like for YOU to talk for a moment; I want to hear what is going on.

As he spoke to Cass, his eyes pleaded with Morgan to trust him. He made certain that he was between the two women...

<< And onward she counted, as she breathed in and out. Ruby REALLY didn't want it with her right now, even if she was too foolish to know that. Hadn't Cameron explained to her...WARNED her? Did she LISTEN? Was she AWARE of the crisis they were now in!?>>

Despite the weird demonic Rachel Ray moment Gabe had witnessed from Rose, the dinner had went very smoothly. The food was great, the booze were better. And Ramsey hadn't stampeded his way in midway through like a college frat boy.

Rose handed everyone an after dinner cocktail with a glowing ball of ice. Gabe examined it curiously, his eyebrows lifted as he swirled it around in his glass.

Rose: Here you are, a nice after-dinner tonic.

"Radioactive?"

He joked with a warm smile. He had to admit, Rose was a nice lady. And the fact that she was solely running a sanctuary to help orphan kids was absolutely amazing and showed her selfless character. But there was still something obviously wrong with her--there was no denying the glimpses of crazy he kept catching. He didn't know what the underlining issue was, but right now, he wasn't worried about it. Everyone was having a great time and really enjoying themselves.

Rose made a small speech, further emphasizing that she was going through a lot of shit lately. Hell, he would probably be loosing his sanity too if he was having to deal with the bullshit that Rose was dealing with. The lady was tough, but he was happy he could lighten the load just a bit for her.

Rose: Again, I thank you for working so quickly to provide me with a suitable alternative to Clandestine Inc's security.

"No worries, it's my pleasure."

He responded sincerely.

Rose: And now, under the light and power of the moon, Here's to peace, comfort, tranquility.....and hope.

Gabe raised his glass along with everyone else and gave a cheers before taking a decent swig. Fucking hell, he hated tequila, but he was trying to be a gentleman. Placing his glass down on the coffee table, Rose once again thanked everyone for coming.

Zizi: “Thank you for inviting us, Rose. The meal was fabulous – I don’t remember the last time I ate so well, truly. And if there’s ever anything I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask.”

"Yeah, thanks for your hospitality Rose. Everything was great. And i'm sure Ramsey and my team will love the left overs you saved for them once they finish up tonight. They've got a couple hours left of work to do, then they'll be back bright and early tomorrow to finish up the installation."

His team was speedy on a decent day, but with this particular case it was priority and he made sure they knew they needed to get this job done right and fast.

Zizi: “Are you ready to go? Or do you need to stay and supervise?”

Gabe shook his head as he stood up.

"Nah, Rams can handle it. I'm good if you are. I still wanna take a look over those files you promised me."

Looking at his watch.

"And Sweet Treats closes in a half hour. Definitely can make it in time to grab that cheesecake before I dive face first into the X-Files."

He quipped with a smile.

"Plus, I saw you eying me while drinkin' that tequila....I have a feeling you're gonna need some sugar in you soon."

He chuckled

"You ready?"

The Sanctuary

Gabe let Rose know what was going on with the installation, and that everything would be finished the next morning. She asked him if he needed to stay. She could catch a cab home.

Gabe said:
"Nah, Rams can handle it. I'm good if you are. I still wanna take a look over those files you promised me."

“Of course.”

She smiled up at him.

“I have some work to get finished tonight still also.”

Gabe said:

“And I’ll dive face first into that cheesecake…though I’m not sure I could eat another bite after this wonderful meal!”

And then to Gabe in a lower voice.

“But I’ll find a way.”

Gabe said:
"Plus, I saw you eying me while drinkin' that tequila....I have a feeling you're gonna need some sugar in you soon."

“Oh do you now? I can hold my liquor just fine I’ll have you know.”

Which, the both knew, was not true.

Gabe said:
"You ready?"

She nodded.

“Thank you again, Rose. This was a terrific event. I’m really honored you asked us. Rae, Danny – nice to formally meet you both. Alycia, Xavier, Simon – I’ll see you all soon, I hope.”

And with a smile to all of them, she let Gabe help her out and to the car.

She leaned back into the seat, looking out of the window, the warmth of the tequila and the wine spreading through her.

“See? That wasn’t so bad.”

Rose was an absolutely magnificent host, serving up a brilliant Italian meal that rivaled any that he'd had in Italy. He had great conversation with everyone and Rose was polite and thoughtful and, towards the end, introspective. Xavier hoped that she would continue towards the path to a more even keel and he saw perhaps a synergy from Simon's group that might be able to assist her. He made a note to speak to Simon another time as she rounded out the meal with a closing speech.

If I may...Rose...I would like to stay if you don't mind. I have a tremendous respect for what you do here and, until this system is fully in place, I am not comfortable leaving tonight. Besides, I have a cricket pitch to put together for the kids to play with in the morning. I will help maintain a perimeter through the night. And wash the dishes.

Xavier had collected the dishes at super speed and, before anyone could object, was already whistling as he took them to the sink to wash them, dry them and put them away. He winked at Alycia, smiling, as he walked through the door into the kitchen...

:: The expression on Cass’ face betrayed absolutely NOTHING. Her jaw was set and her eyes were blank. So they wanted the whole truth, huh? Cass wanted to tell them that the truth was that it was NONE of their damn business what had happened. They weren’t in her life during her [fake] relationship with Ben so therefore they had NO SAY in any interactions that they [she and Ben] may have. THAT’S what she WANTED to say. ::

“You want to know what happened at St. Patrick’s?”

:: She looked down at her folded hands and then looked up defiantly. ::

*defiant*: “We KISSED, okay? Are you HAPPY now?!”

:: Cass unfolded her hands and crossed her arms, sitting back in the chair. She wasn’t going to apologize for kissing him; she didn’t even REGRET it. ::

“Don’t expect an apology from me, because you’re not going to get one. I’m not the first person to kiss their ex, and I certainly won’t be the last.”

:: She WAS pushing back, but she had to; she refused to let people walk all over her just because they didn’t like what she was saying. Besides, she was growing more and more annoyed that they wanted to know MORE about her interaction with Ben. In Cass’ eyes, he was OFF-LIMITS to them. She felt a NEED to protect him because she believed that he, too, could be saved. But she refused to reveal that she still loved him. THAT would NOT be a good thing to say. ::

“So there you have it. We exchanged a few kisses. It didn’t mean anything, though. He made it CLEAR where he stood.”

:: She gritted her teeth. ::

“Then I got the message that you all were off on some mission without me.”

:: She looked at Morgan. ::

“YOU weren’t here for this…”

:: She then looked at Nicolas. ::

“…but YOU were. What did I say when I had discovered that you all KNEW about my kidnapping by the Purifiers and that NOBODY had clued ME in?! I said that I felt left out and that I didn’t want it to happen ever again!”

:: Cass could still feel the hurt she had felt after learning that everybody had known about her situation and they CHOSE not to tell her. ::

“So when I heard from Cameron about the Six and Persephone, I thought that everybody left me out YET again. So I WILL apologize for overreacting, but I was HURT. If we’re broken, but we still want to present a united front, then that means we are ALL in it together. It didn’t matter if I wasn’t needed; I should’ve been there for the SOLE purpose of showing Persephone that we are still united.”

Zizi: “Of course. I have some work to get finished tonight still also.”

"Perfect. Another infamous all nighter."

He joked, referring to their many nights spent hacking and playing video games in the past. He mentioned Sweet Treats and her eyes lit up.

Zizi: “And I’ll dive face first into that cheesecake…though I’m not sure I could eat another bite after this wonderful meal! But I’ll find a way.”

He laughed.

"Oh i'm sure you will. I mean...i'm gonna help of course. Can't let you suffer eating that cheesecake alone."

He gave her a cheeky grin as they began to make their way toward the door, mentioning how she was gonna need some extra sugar in her after the absorbent amount of alcohol she had consumed that evening. Unlike Ramsey whom he made a jab at for not being able to hold his alcohol, Zizi actually couldn't. She was as light a weight as they came. Then again, she was all but 100 pounds soaking wet so it made sense. But it was fun when she DID get drunk. He just wanted to make sure she didn't get SICK.

Zizi: “Oh do you now? I can hold my liquor just fine I’ll have you know.”

"Uh huh. And Darth Vader isn't Luke's father. [while chuckling] Lets go R2. Cheesecake awaits."

He smiled down at her, enjoying the little ribbing he could get in as they began to make their way to the parlor exit.

Zizi: “Thank you again, Rose. This was a terrific event. I’m really honored you asked us. Rae, Danny – nice to formally meet you both. Alycia, Xavier, Simon – I’ll see you all soon, I hope.”

"[with a wave] It was nice to meet everyone, hope we can do this again soon. And thank you again Rose, for your hospitality. I'll be making sure to call you tomorrow when I start the remote link up once the security system is fully installed."

Giving everyone a smile as him and Zizi departed, they made their way down the driveway to the car. He could see numerous members of his team diligently working in the distance setting up different security equipment. He helped Zizi in the car and loaded up her wheelchair before getting in himself.

Zizi: "See? That wasn't so bad."

He could tell she was starting to feel the alcohol. He smiled.

"Nah, it was actually pretty fun. Thanks for draggin' me along....Rose is a nice lady. I'm glad I can help her out with this."

Looking over at Zizi.

"You good?"

He didn't want to drive crazy if it was gonna make her sick. But he knew she enjoyed going fast, so when she nodded he shifted into gear, speeding off from The Sanctuary; luckily they just made it to Sweet Treats before it closed. An Oreo cheesecake and some chocolate chip cookies later, they made their way back to the Clocktower, Zizi punching in the security code as Gabe opened the door for her. He stopped a moment, holding the handle while leaning down to Zizi.

"Uhh...you think He-Man and She-ra are battling horizontally? I don't wanna loose what good dinner I just had."

He quietly laughed as he opened the door fully for Zizi, closing it behind them.
