Just released at the end of last year, this was capcom's first completely CGI film for the Resident Evil franchise. It features Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy, the protagonists/survivors of the resident evil 2 video game and as such...this movie is sort of a sequel. It acknowledges the events of the RE games.

The movie is VERY well done visually. they used human actors in suits to simulate very real movements for the characters. and the story is very nice. there's a clear connection to the events of the RE timeline from RE 0 through RE 3.

Claire Redfield has matured and is ALMOST as capable and competent as Jill Valentine :D Leon S. Kennedy has gone from being a shell shocked rookie cop trying to stay alive in Raccoon City to being a hardened, seasoned special agent who is not big on words but is very efficient in his actions.

Among other things The story seems to suggest that while Umbrella may have been "blown apart" by the backlash from the events of Raccoon City, that its scattered pieces may be coming back together in the form of "Tricell", a new bio research corp.

Has anyone else seen this? I highly recommend it for fans of the RE video game series. It WISELY ignores the shit that is going on in RE 4.

My roommate is actually watching this as i type, hes enjoying it quite well. He said it actually makes him want to play 4 again.

I'm going to have to check it out. I'm currently playing the RE5 Demo on the 360 and I'm not really a fan of where they were going in 4 with the "crazed people" which is where RE5 is as well, I kinda liked the zombie thing best.

I really want to see this but I'm afraid that I'll be lost since I haven't played any Resident Evil games since RE2 back when I was in middle school. The fact that it follows the games instead of the movies (which I love as well) also makes it hard to just pick it up and watch it. LOL

I like the games up to RE 4 and I love the movies with Milla Jovovich. Considering MIlla's character Alice doesnt exist anywhere in the games , the movies are definately non cannon but they have many elements of the games incorporated in them.

VG i think if you checked out RE: Degeneration, you'd find that the movie really does sort of stand alone. It has enough flash backs to key scenes in RE 2 (the game) and really tells a good story in the present.

Alot of people wouldnt have immediately guessed i'm such a big fan of t he RE series but Jill Valentine from the games and Alice and Jill from the movies are my favorite characters! :)

I saw the movie at FYE for twelve dollars. I'm gonna go pick it up next time I go and watch it.
