Rant and Rave 2

WOO!!!! My day is going great! This is a rave about my job.

Well, Deborah, one of the partners pulled me into the office. She closes the door, which scares a lot of people. The firm had been downsizing plenty of staff lately including attorneys.

Anyway Debbie tells me she's letting go of two people. One of them is Marchelle (YESSSSSSS!!! The chick who was constantly jealous of me and who never worked) and the other was Ewa (a personal friend of my mothers who I adored).

She said these two were being fired because they couldn't grasp the idea of working, they were dramatic, and too much of personal phone calls.

Debbie tells me she's hiring me full time with a nice salary, paid holiday and vacation days. I'll work from 12 to 8 Monday through Thursday and 10am to 6pm on Friday.

She wants me personally in the Real Estate department, which means I'll be working side by side my mother. My Mom is going to train me Real Estate along with other types of law (which she's very advanced with). I'll have my own desk, right beside my mother.

Debbie said she likes my fiery attitude no - nonsense approach. She said "I need that sense of fire in this office to help motivate the staff." She went on to say she had a lot of respect for me after I wrote the memo to the staff a couple of weeks ago. And herself and Ron are impressed by my work quality.

So, its everything I wanted! My mother also received a nice raise as well. I got a raise back in July lol and now I'm getting another one. I like law LOL! Debbie went on to say that myself and my mother are very valuable to the firm.

I'm thrilled, no more Marchelle and her skanky outfits. Woo Hoo!!! :D ;)

I am so sick of guys who make plans with you and then never show up! AT least call to say that your plans have changed and you aren't coming! Don't make me sit and wait for you. Grrr!

I just freaking LOVE when you Instant message someone to catch up and they totally ignore you AND then sign off without even a good - bye. Gotta love that, but whatever. I guess I'm not "cool" enough for her lol. :stupid: :p :sure: But oh well, its not my loss. :sleep2:

Actually, I know that for me personally, I tend to forget to put myself as away or log off. So, that could be why they don't talk back to you.

As for the sign off thing, they could have one of those (archaic) 56k internet connection, and they don't get your messages because it's failed, and it took awhile for the connection to completely break off and sign them out of wherever. That used to happen to me when I was on 56k.

Later on in the day to my disbelief I find out that he is exlusively dating a 14 year old girl. I'm not sure about anywhere else in the country, but in Texas that is considered illegal.

It's considered illegal in all parts of the country. And if they're having sex, it's statatury (sp?) rape (even if it's consentual from both sides). Obviously, he has the mentality of a 14 yr. old, which is why he's dating one. This is *exactly* why I never wanted to date anyone older than me in High School (well, that and the fact that I wasn't, and am still not, ready for a signifigant other ;)).

And Christ, by the time I finally do find a girl I could have something serious with, how many guys will she have slept with?
If it makes you feel any better, I'm 20, still a virgin and saving myself for a guy I love ;) I, myself, find it hard to have sex without love (Of course, I've never *tried* to have sex without love, but I just *know* it would be hard for me to enjoy ;)).

I mean call me old school, but I'm not planning on getting married more then once.
Same. I want to fall in love with someone, marry them and grow old together without ever falling out of love with that someone.

You know what I hate? What I reaaaaaaally hate? Fucking thieves.

Now you know how open I am about making people banners. I'm not just like this here on SG, but i'm like that on all the GH websites I participate at. Just ask me, tell me what you want, and i'll make it to the best of my ability. I've even made section on this one couples site with about 10 banners people could pick and choose from to put in their signature as long as they gave me credit.

Well, here comes my rant. lol. I was browsing around this one Ted King message board i'm apart of, and low and behold, I see someone with on of the banners I made that was up for grabs. But they didn't credit me. I let it go, nothing to get too fired up about. But then I go into this one thread and literally 15 people had every single banner I made, ALL with no credit! How freakin' hard is it to type "Banner made by skyeblue", I mean seriously?

But that's not the icing on the cake. Ooooh no. Some punk decided to take it a step further and literally snatch one of MY own personal banners from my signature, and place it in theirs! What type of thieving bullshit is that? So yeah, now i'm freakin' pissed. And i'm probably going to start to have to tag my banners now.

Fuckers piss me off.

I totally hear you babe :) I don't know what it is that makes people think it's allright to steal things just because it's the internet. On my sites I'm really nazi-ish about not letting people use things of mine, advertise etc - and people ask why and I tell them it comes from being ripped off so many times. You just can't trust anyone to do the right thing anymore. :(

I don't get why they take something if they're too lazy to credit.

I know that if I'm not in the mode to credit, I just don't use the artist's work. It's as simple as that.

Also...why are people all "Don't copy my HTML!!" Example (from a friend):

Moll said:
Layout is (C) Moll; NO STEALING!
Looking for examples is ok to learn,
but NO COPYING AND PASTING!!
From that quote, I gather she's saying that all the HTML she uses is copyright, which just isn't true. Saying something like "My HTML is copyright" is basically like saying "[insert language here] is copyright" which, you just can't do. What people *mean* to say is "the specific colour combination I have created is copyright," not "All my HTML is copyright, no copy/pasting!!" Cause, I hate to break it to you, but how do you think *you* got the code?! Someone invented it, and then you copy/pasted. Either that, or you learned how to tweak the code to make the result of a picture being aligned onto the right. You can't say "You cannot copy/paste my code, aligning your pictures on the right is copyright to me! If you copy, you're stealing!!!" just because it doesn't work out like that. It works out like that for graphics, movies, exact words you're saying, but it doesn't work out like that in HTML.

PS : How do you people feel about people taking your work, crediting you for it, and building upon it?

Well I've had people view the source code of my site and put it up as their own (not even bothering to change the graphics or their urls!). That is definitely stealing...

You can copyright the result of the code. Obviously you can't copyright the "font" tag, but you can copyright the combination of code that created the page design.

:)

Wow, I didn't know you could copyright a banner. That's news to me, picture I knew.

That's a shame though Sam. Your banners are awesome but that does not give a person the right to steal them.

Honestly I don't know. If credit is given then I guess I wouldn't mind. But if they made the banner look horrible, then I wouldn't want to be given credit for it. LOL, you know what I mean? It's like half their work, half mine...I'm not sure. I never ran into that situation before.

But yeah Vil, I agree. It's just annoying that people can just up and steal something that you made. They didn't take the time to make it...hell it's taken me a year to get to where I am relatively good at it. And i'm STILL learning as I go. It just ticks me off to no end.

I finally have one.................I hate, hate, hate, the mask!!! By the mask I mean the pre concieved notions that society places on us. The ideas that are formulated that tell us what is beauty, life, and love. We are bombarded with these things daily, and unfortunately succumb to wearing them ourselves both directly and indirectly. I hate being the victim of my own indulgence, embracing so called culture and ideology that should liberate but oftentimes in application, does quite the opposite.

I hate the fact that it is said that it is better to have loved and lost, rather than never loved at all, I totally disagree, it hurts like hell to lose love, especially when its compounded by the wearing of the mask(s).

if only MORE people could admit to this, perhaps more people would find the courage to go with wha tthey FEEL rather than what is "expected"
I'd rather have loved and lost than to never have loved at all. I think of the worthwhile relationships I've had as being good things, and am grateful I had a chance to share in a woman's life who I love(d). Sometimes things just don't work out, regardless of how much both parties try. I always learn a lot from a failed relationship, which should help me in the future when I find another good woman.

i like this post, its an honest, optimistic view that i dont often see when it comes to love
I'm not sure if in MY opinion its best to love and lost than not at all. You love someone you POUR your heart into that person, the relationship, your goals, and your life together. Shit happens and it ends.

Yes, you love but if you really REALLY love someone you'll go to your grave loving that person. You can try and move on but nobody will compare to that first love. Sure, learning the hard lessons could work and dating someone else might benefit. But in the end you'll be dating someone hell even married but you'll be losing that first love.

I've seen this personally with my mother. She LOVED her first love Michael, the two dating for years and they were actually engaged. He chose drugs over her and she couldn't go through it knowing her husband was into cocaine. She broke the engagement off, she was devastated.

She's dated before and finally married my Dad. But she admits she'll always love Michael.

Why date if you can't love someone like that? Here the other person thinks you love them when you truly love someone else you can't have.

This is a sad rant on my lack of thinking things through.

I wanted to move my old dresser back into my room, since I have extra space for it in the closet (and by extra space, I mean, if I find other places for the other shit that was in there).

So, I measure my closet, and measure the dresser, and it will fit :D Yey! So, since I want it upstairs *now* and I don't want to bother dad (who's out of the house, he went to church, and then fixed the pastor's computer, and I presume that he is currently out shopping), I decide to haul it up the stairs. Of course, I don't get the hint the first couple of times, when it's a bit hard to get it started to go up the stairs. So, I manage to start like..."rolling" (well, as much as one can for a rectangular object :p) the dresser up the stairs. I was *scared* half out of my mind 3 different times. I was afraid it was going to fall onto me, and I'd go crashing onto the concrete floor and smash my head open (I'm an over-reactor, and it might not have crashed my head open, but I'm sure it would've inflicted some form of bodily damage). I scream (you know the actual scream, the "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!" screech like scream), and I scream out "HELP!" And I guess either no one heard me, or no one cared enough to call or ring the doorbell...or the neighbors have lives and aren't home (the latterest is more likely).

The dresser is upstairs now, and I'm fine. I'm still really shaken up and scared. I think what worries me the most is if I had fallen down the stairs and hurt myself, no one would've known it. I imagine people probably ignored me cause I tend to yell often (usually at the computer for going slow, or at some piece of furniture I'm moving, and it's not moving fast enough for my taste because I'm fucking weak), but still!! Screaming the AHH!! screechy scream, and yelling help is alot more different than screaming "ARRGH!! YOU STUPID LITTLE FUCKER!!"

I dunno, I think for the most part, I feel sorry for myself, and I do want to look to blame someone other than me for my own stupidity...though writing this down really has helped me to calm down a bit and feel better.

I really wish the dresser weren't such shitty quality too! I mean, if I'm going to almost fall down the stairs, it should totally be for a better dresser, and not one where the drawers go in and out crooked

PS : To end on a light note, I'm kind of hungry now :$

It must be a Rochester thing because this New Yorker would NOT pull that shit upstairs by myself. I've learned the hard way that being "Super woman" will pull the back out. I used to easily lift 50 pound bags running up and down stairs at my previous job. I would have to peel potatoes for mashed potatoes and sometimes I'd have to grab two 50 pound bags. And then I'd have to run back downstairs for a 50 pound bag of onions.

Its not the same but my point is I was too stubborn to ask for "help" with the bag. I'm too stubborn to ask for assistance and I especially refuse to allow a man to help me lol. But after pulling out my back and almost crying in pain. I made the other guys in the kitchen grab it for me lol.

But seriously, you could have waited to have the dresser moved upstairs. You don't have to kill yourself, plus it wasn't safe. Nobody was home and that's not safe.

Ps - Yelling at inanimate objects doesn't help. It doesn't know you don't want it there. The only reason you were pissed was yourself. You allowed yourself to be ruffled and riled by a piece of furniture. I've fallen victim to that but in the end I realize its just a piece of furniture. It has no feelings, it can't talk. That's psychology right there lol.

It has no feelings, it can't talk.

Which is why it's okay to yell at it. If I yell at myself, I'll cry :$ (which, I did anyways, even without yelling at myself, but whatever).

But seriously, you could have waited to have the dresser moved upstairs. You don't have to kill yourself, plus it wasn't safe. Nobody was home and that's not safe.

Yeah, I know...but when it was downstairs, I figured "Pfft, I can so easily handle getting this upstairs!" My aunt says that's the way only children think, since her daughter, Ty, thinks that way too (Ty's also an only child).

My dad says that it would've been far easier for me if I had taken out the drawers first and then moved the shell upstairs.

*sigh* it sucks when your trying to heal from a broken heart. Trying to move on from the person you love and they return around and call you up crying.

I was on a somewhat strong recovery to getting over J. But Friday when she called my cell phone (on a strange number) I froze. I didn't know what to say. It was like having a drink for an alcoholic. She sounded upset and me concerned asked. She started to cry and say she didn't get to say everything she wanted to her mother, she didn't like the way the things ended between her and I, and how she made a huge mistake about the Army. She said she missed me and she only wanted me to be happy with someone else.

I felt JOY that she was miserable it felt good to know she was suffering and that karma was biting her in the ass. But then she said..."I love you" at the end.

It broke my concentration, my ANGER that fueled me to move on. And now ever since I've fallen in a slump. I wanna hate her for hurting me for picking the fucking army over ME, someone whose been there since she was 13!

God, I packed her stuff away but now I feel trapped and its annoying me. I feel UPSET over this....I was doing so good too. And now I'm back to thinking about her. I don't wanna think about her....she hurt me several times...NO!

Grrrr, wake me up when September is over.
