Danger Room

Silver Swan was shouting at him. Well she could just piss off.

“Maybe you can watch people die for no reason without feeling anything, but I won’t. WON’T.”

He opened the door to the Danger Room.

“You can all go to hell. I’m finished with you tossers.”

And he slammed the door shut behind him.

He had come here to help. Because he believed Delilah was doing good. But this? Such blatant disregard for human life? That wasn’t what he had signed up for. He’d heard as he was leaving that Rich was okay, had used his powers to save himself. But what if he hadn’t? What if he’d been too slow? And that smug Sharon… How could she not care that Rich almost died? Could have been dead?

He was so angry.

He had seen so much of this growing up – the “people in charge” so far away, dictating life and death. Never risking themselves. People dying for stupid reasons – kids his own age even. Old people. For nothing. He wouldn’t be a part of that again.

The danger room

[ Silver Swan stood up as Richard did the same. She was angry herself but not for the same reason. Unlike Andrew, she KNEW Richard wasn't dead but he took an unnecessary, STUPID risk...AGAIN.]

RICHARD....

[ Andrew interruped. Sharon snapped her silver eyes over to him in a glare of contempt. He told them all to go to hell and stormed out. the thick door of the danger room slammed behind him as they all looked to where he had been. Andrew HAD handled himself FAR BETTER than she expected, but now? Did he really think Delilah and Connor would give THEM more than they could handle? She felt he was still SOFT and not fit to fight by their side.]

Scrawny Prima Donna!

[ Sharon says flatly before turning back to Richard. her silver eye mask returned over her eyes now.]

Richard...That was a STUPID thing to do! I could have caught Ana-Leigh with EASE. We're NOT goning to be able to STOP when we're out THERE fighting THEM because you overreach and get hurt!

[ But beside being pissed that he did this...she was ALSO upset because...she had been CONCERNED about him. Yet ANOTHER moment where the humanity she felt she'd lost was shown to be all too present.]

Somebody gave a damn. Rich gave a smirk as she scolded him.

If you had called it, I would have let you do it. But I was not willing to risk Ana-Leigh in case you had not seen her. I'll be FINE, and if not...I have been dead before.

He turns toward where he believes the control room is.

Unpause please.

He winks at Sharon.

I like you too Songbird.

Danger Room analysis

<< During phase 3 of the training session, the computer systems had colleced and analyzed the combat data. But for the eyes watching, it became clear that the four down below WERE capable of working TOGETHER, playing off one another, coordinating attacks and being creative for maximum effect.>>

<< Silver Swan had raw power, the will and DESIRE to use it but she was still harsh with her team mates; Artemis was agile, fast on her feet and an excellent strategist and unlike Sharon...she could easily relate to ANYONE on the team without any prejudice. Her energy based powers brought the advantage of offense and indirect attacks via environment; Matrix had a tactical advantage on multiple fronts and had much heart and courage but he had a tendency to look before he leaped; Titan was a wild card, easily underestimated but clearly capable of standing beside the others who were, at first glance, vastly more powerful than him. Despite Sharon and Bishop's utter dismissal of him, he was a good fit.>>

<< The moment Richard seemed to be badly hurt, the session paused when Andrew launched into an angry tyrade against MorningStar and Bishop who sat in the observation booth.>>

<< Richard recovered but Andrew stormed out and Sharon scolded Richard.>>

<< MorningStar and Bishop may have been taken aback by this sudden outburst but even as Sharon scolded Richard, the combat data analysis began to broadcast.>>

synthesized voice of Alison Marble: Session complete. combata data analysis complete. report ready.

<< the hum and whir of energy and power could be heard in the observation booth as the danger room returned to its basic form.>>

synthesized version of Alison Marble's voice: Team cohesion is currently at 65% percent. Performance in simulation as a group- Moderate. Performance as individuals- Excellent.

Silver Swan exceeds all projected expectations for performance and power but poses a potential threat to her team mates due to her high levels of agression. Silver Swan is a key point of reference in all offensive strategies against Mystech. Artemis is fluid in combat and easily adapts to changing situations and threats. Personality is suitable for field/mission leader. Matrix's potential for high level combat rivals that of Silver Swan but his requirement for energy to sustain high and complex use of his powers will be a distinct liability. Artemis may present a possible ongoing solution for that but further analysis should be taken. Titan is highly adaptable, possessing a "quiet" power. Will be useful for "black ops" and reconnaisance. His lack of combat experience and the understanding of his teammates poses a distinct liability.

Final Analysis: Silver Swan, Artemis, Matrix and Titan combined will pose a significant threat to the advance of Mystech.

Like she had anticipated, one of her teammates were there for her. Rich in King Kong form managed to snatch her from the sky as they both came crashing to the street below. Ana felt herself be dropped before a massive explosion from the last remaining sentinel seemingly obliterated Rich.

"Oh my God!"

She cried out as Sharon rushed over and Andrew began to scream at Delilah and the others who were watching. But Rich was fine...thank god. Sighing out in relief, the situation still pissed off Andrew who stormed off. Watching him walk away, there was really nothing that could be said to him. He was pissed. He put on a huge front for people, but it genuinely cared about their well being. Add that to Sharon's obvious hate for him, it made him fly off the handles.

"I know you don't like him Sharon, but he's trying....just like we all are."

Soon, Alison Marbles voice began to rattle off stats of each member. First Sharon, saying she was a fabulous fighter, but lacked team work. Ana-Leigh bit her bottom lip knowing Sharon would probably get pissed hearing that. Her and Rich did pretty well, then there was Andrew who fared well also, but was more of a wildcard. It seemed individually they were all capable of taking down MysTech, but as a group it was more uncertain.

The apocalyptic New York scene soon faded back into the Danger Room . There was silence for a few seconds before Ana felt inclined to say something. They could practice until they were blue in the face, but if they didn't become a TEAM, then they were all screwed.

"I hope we can all pull it together soon....because this won't be a simulation next time. MysTech wants us dead, and no amount of ego or grandstanding is going to change that."

War Room

Delilah watched her team do battle with a calculating eye. It wasn’t perfect, but Connor and Mina were right – there was promise there. But just when they started working together…it fell apart again.

Bishop: [angrily] “Andrew.”

The three listened, speechless, as Andrew went on a tirade, showing more emotion in thirty seconds than he had since they’d met him. Delilah sank back in her chair.

“He grew up in a warzone…it never occurred to me how that would have affected him…”

Bishop wasn’t sympathetic, and nearly growled his response.

Bishop: “I’ll go get the punk.”

Delilah put a hand lightly on his arm to stop him.

“No, I’ll go.”

Delilah was in the hallway just as Andrew came up the stairway from the Danger Room. He looked at her with a cold stare – but with hurt in those eyes.

The danger room

[ a visibly agitated Sharon looked at Ana-Leigh.]

Well he should try HARDER! Mystech won't stop until we and anything anyone in this room cares about are DEAD!

I thought the whole point of this was to DESTROY them before it's too late!

[ the computer broadcasts stats and other information. "She" pointed out that while Silver Swan was powerful and an excellent fighter, she was too harsh and agressive. She rolled her silver eyes and exhaled with audible annoyance. Her harshness and agression "posed a threat"...to whom!? she didnt attack people who didnt deserve it!]

[ Why couldnt they just get going and smash, bust up and DESTROY more mystech strong holds, like SHE did when she was a solo act!? Artemis and Matrix had it in them...they should just take MorningStar, Bishop and get MYSTECH before it gets them!]

I hope we can all pull it together soon....because this won't be a simulation next time. MysTech wants us dead, and no amount of ego or grandstanding is going to change that...

[ standing with her arms folded, Sharon looks over toward Ana-Leigh once more]

Agreed!

So what now?

[ She looks at Matrix and then up toward the observation booth. She was a verb away from leaving herself to get some air , flying in the open skies always seemed to help calm her]

Rich heard his analysis and seemed completely unfazed. He was who he THOUGHT he was. So he would need to work to be stronger still. Luckily the internet offered a wealth of information on forms he could take. People were bickering and he got it.

Agreed!

So what now?

He could see the agitation in Sharon's eyes and face, her body language. She needed to get away from this and he knew how.

Let's chill a bit. We have had quite the shitstorm just now, my bad on that. I will talk with Andrew when he cools off. Nothing for any of us to accomplish right this second with him. But the camaraderie takes time. Trust is an earned thing. Look, I am ready to get some air myself if you are ready Sharon. You can ride with me Ana if you wanna, the skyline here is amazing.

Rich was gonna get some air regardless...he was hoping his teammates would be willing to do the same. Right now they were 4 separate people instead of a team. Against Mystech, that would be their collective asses.

War Room

As he came up from the Danger Room on the way back to his room, Delilah was there.

“For fuck’s sake. Can’t you just leave me alone?!”

He turned to go into the stairwell to the floors above but then turned back.

“I knew I might die with you, but I thought it would be for something important. Not some GAME!”

Delilah: “Andrew, I’m sorry. It’s not like that. We have to train hard if we’re going to-“

“No. Stop talking! Jesus, woman. I mean, look at yourself-“

Andrew was exasperated. Pretty words didn’t excuse the fact that any one of them could have died in that room. Died for nothing.

“Well, guess what? You can’t follow me in here.”

And with that, he pushed through the door to the stairwell and disappeared.

Illustra- Danger Room to rooftop

[ Sharon looked over at Richard as he seemed to know just what she was wanting to do.]

I'll see you both on the roof.

[Sharon departs the Danger Room and soon the War Room floor itself.]

[ A short while later, She was on the roof top of Illustra. It was a slightly breezy but warm day. She stretched as her blonde, silver streaked hair flowed in the wind.]

[ She lifts her armoured hands up to the sun. She'd often heard things religious people say about how "god's creatures" give him praise. the birds and other things. But what was SHE? certainly nothing any god had anything to do with creating. Where did she fit in? ]

[ Still wearing her silver eye mask, she shuts her eyes tightly. For all her contempt and disdain for Andrew, whom she felt was scrawny and weak...she suddenly thought about Ashley in Central Park and others whom she had come to the aid of. They were weak. Even if Andrew was as weak as she felt he was...shouldnt she be PROTECTING him if nothing else? If she abandonned him, or HARMED him without just cause...that'd make her her no better than her most HATED enemy, Mystech...the entity that TURNED her into what she now was.]

[Exhaling long and slow, she turns as she hears Richard and Ana-Leigh making their way up the stairs toward the rooftop exit]

Some of my friends

[ Richard and Ana-Leigh would note a few song birds and other types of birds perched at various points around them]

Will join us.

They are my eyes and ears around the city...and when I had no one...the came to me...

I'm ready when you are.

[ and with that, Silver Swan leaps into the air, immediately taking flight]

Sharon visibly needed some air and Rich picked up on it. He suggested taking a fly around New York to which Sharon agreed to.

Rich: You can ride with me Ana if you wanna, the skyline here is amazing.

"Uhh...sure..."

She had her fill of flying [more like falling] for one day, but maybe a little "together time" would help at least Sharon feel more comfortable with them. This could lead to her finally accepting Andrew.

After everyone departed the Danger Room, they all met up on Illustra's roof top. It was pretty windy considering the height of the bulding, causing Ana's pony tail to whip around behind her.

"I'm all about experiencing new things....but how exactly will I be joining you two for this flight?"

They were on the roof and as it was Sharon was rarin' to go. So much in fact, that she took off quickly. Ana-Leigh looked at her and seemed just a bit nervous.

"I'm all about experiencing new things....but how exactly will I be joining you two for this flight?"

Rich smiled at her and then took hold of her hands. He turned around and placed them on the back of his neck. It felt good as hell, but he stayed focused on what he was doing. He said two words, very important ones

Trust me.

Richard quickly grabbed Ana's legs, lifting her up onto his back as he changed...

...into a FREAKING HUGE gyrfalcon with a saddle and stirrups into which Ana-Leigh fit PERFECTLY. This form was unusual for him but one he felt that Ana would like. Amazingly, the bird turned its head and opened its mouth, and RICH spoke.

Ready? Hold on.

Before Ana could answer she was into the air on an intercept course for Sharon...

and so...

<< and so, Silver Swan, Matrix and Artemis take to the air to clear their heads and enjoy a freedom few will ever know. The fly through the air, at dizzying heights. With Ana-Leigh seeing her city and the world from a view she couldnt have imagined. THIS was Silver Swan's realm and Matrix was among the precious few who could reach her here. It would be a time of bonding for them all, momentarily forgetting that what goes up, must always come down.>>

------------------------

<< Far below, on the ground, and away from Illustra, Dr. Karen Victoria exits her limo, assisted by her driver. She has decided to take some time for herself, doing a bit of shopping among other things.>>

<< as she moves to the sidewalk she's seen, from across the street, by a familiar face. The young girl she met at J's bar. Cass.>>

<< It had been a few days since they encountered one another and neither expected to see one another again in a city as big as this. But Karen had given the young woman her card and invited her to keep in touch.>

<<Cass was not without her own painful past. Like Karen, she'd lost her family and was essentially ALONE in this time. To be able to befriend someone like Karen who clearly had power would help Cass and for Karen, who had lost a daughter...the instinct to reach out to a young girl in need of guidance was strong.>>

<< The fates always have a way of binding the strings they feel are best connected.>>

NYC - Bell, Book & Candle

<< Karen steps out wearing an elegant pencil skirt outfit and sun glasses. she pauses for a moment as the breeze greets her face, hair and overall form. >>

<< It was still somewhat unusual for her to move about in the OPEN like this. But Christopher was dead now. So was Morgan. Clanedestine inc. soldiers were a panic button press away and she was not without her own magickal resources but like Sharon, she often found herself LOST in a city she had once known so well. EVERYTHING was different now but one thing seemed to be ever constant..>>

<< Zoom away from Karen's face up into the air toward one. two. THREE different cameras ALL bearing the Mystech logo.>>

<< Swing around slowly and notice the Mystech logo on billboards, and elsewhere.>>

they're everywhere...all around me...US. They took my daughter...they perverted my husband...and they are now an "ACCEPTED" part of so many people....

<< But it WASNT for Karen. She knew better than most and she went out of her way to avoid purchasing products that were mystech related. Having the information resources of Alycia Barnett and Clandestine inc were invaluable but not everyone had that level of assistance or even cared to know. This saddened and angered her at the same time.>>

<< As she walked along, different thoughts popped in her head. She took time to stop and browse a few store front windows. She didnt realize that just across the street, the young woman whom she had met just nights ago, now saw her.>>

<< Eventually she went into a charming storefront, Bell, Book & Candle. A beautiful, long standing gift shoppe. But below its surface, this was ALSO one of the oldest APOTHECARIES in NYC. A place where WITCHES went for items to use for spells, potions, elixirs, talismans and more. It was a hub for networking among witches, whether apart of a coven or solitary. >>

Hello??

<< No answer. But no matter. It was not unusual for an apothecary to be a quiet place. Save for soft, faint chimes. Inside the beautiful apothecary, the doctor smiled a bit. A jewel like this nestled in a world of steel, stone and corruption. Yet here it remained. This was a place of magick, knowledge and more importantly, REFUGE for witches young and old, many of whom were not super powered like Morgan, Alison or Karen. >>

<< The doctor took a basket and moved about. Spending time browsing and shopping. Soon, she heard the tinkling of a bell, a cat's collar bell! and moments after that...a sleek siamese popped up from an open box on the floor!>>

Oh! A pretty baby!

<< the siamese, true to the breed, greeted Karen vocally as she investigated Karen and circle about her. Karen reached down to gently sratch the cat's head with her nails.>>

Aww you look just like my daughter's kitty!

<< The siamese seemed quite excited as she continued to bleet/meow and look up at Karen, at times raising up on her hand legs a bit.>>

Where is your mommy? I have some things I'd like to buy from her.

<< But the siamese seemed to have other ideas...as she continued to meow...FUSS almost. Karen noticed this because Tinkerbell had behaved the same way when in the presence of Mina!>>

Kitty...is something wrong?

<< Tinkerbell was an enchanted familiar and had ways of communicating most cats or other animals did not. But enchanted or not, a witch's familiar could sense danger or EVIL and when she or her witch were in danger the signs were obvious.>>

Hello???

<< she called out for the shop mistress but still nothing. the entire time she'd been here, she'd heard nothing from the woman either. Karen began to think something WAS wrong and now the siamese was attempting to get her to follow and so, she quietly set her basket down and did just that...all the while, sensing that something was indeed TERRIBLY wrong.>>

:: Cass was walking along the sidewalk enjoying her latte from Starbucks when she noticed a familiar figure stepping onto the sidewalk across the street from her. Cass broke into a smile. She really liked Karen, and the doctor reminded her of her own mother in that she had great warmth and kindness. ::

She was going to wave at her, but Karen didn't notice nor could she hear her call if she did. That's how BUSY New York can be. ::

:: Noticing a lull in the traffic, she went for it and ran across the street. ::

*warmly*: "Dr. Vic--?"

:: Again, Karen didn't notice her or hear her as she was so focused on heading into the apothecary, Bell, Book & Candle. Cass watched helplessly as Karen went inside. ::

:: Cass walked slowly towards the store and stared at her reflection in the window -- vampires generally don't have reflections but being part of a special sect, the SIRENS, that particular rule didn't apply to HER. ::

:: Cass stood there looking helpless. She did not LIKE apothecaries at ALL. ::

A helping hand

<< Cass had just missed Karen by a few steps. But now, the doctor might as well have been standing in the lake of fire because Cass did not dare entire Bell, Book & Candle. This place, like all other apothecaries was an anathema to her.>>

<< So there she stood, hoping to greet Karen but now perplexed. Still, the strings of fate that bind, do not come without ways of making sure their will be done.>>

<< From Cass' 3 o'clock up the street, Officer Michael Armstrong is walking. Now it's HIS turn to be surprised as he spots Cass. Not wanting to miss her in case she was going inside of whatever store she was standing in front of, Mike quickens his pace and calls out to her as he reaches her, still standing and looking perplexed, outside of Bell, Book & Candle.>>

Cleanup was a mess, and a LOT of officers died, including his own partner. after funerals, they tried to re-assign him someone but he declined. Considering his rising popularity among the force and even in parts of the city, he was left alone. This allowed him to do what he wished pretty much, which was investigating the revelations he had during the Mishap, the awkward fucking name that police brass tried to give what happened.

He was thinking about that when he saw a young lady in front of his. It was CASS. Quickening his pace, he spoke up, determined not to lose a friendly (and pretty) face that he knew was not full of shit. She was transfixed on the front of an old-school storefront, looked like a knick-knack shop or something. She looked at it like it would get up and walk away almost, but she made no move to go inside.

CASS!! Hey lady! How are you doing, or rather, what are you doing? Need some help? Is everything OK?

He walked up as he greeted her, his long strides quickly eating up the room between them.

:: Cass was still standing in front of the store, not moving. She only turned her head when she heard her name. ::

:: She stared at him, blinking at him. Slowly, she came out of her funk, fog, trance, whatever you called it. A sweet smile was on her face. ::

"Mike? Um, I was just waiting for...?"

:: She broke off and shook her head, as if trying to shake the fogginess away. ::

*confused*: "I was just waiting for Dr. Victoria. She went inside."

:: She gazed at the door leading to the apothecary. She REALLY didn't like this place. ::

Cass looked like she was almost hypnotized...or very high.

Hey, you OK? You seems a bit out of it. Let's go in an say hello and, if you need me to, I'll drop you off back home to rest.

Mike offered his hand to lead her in...

:: Cass took a small step backwards. She chuckled nervously. ::

"I...this place, apothecaries in general, makes me nervous. All that weird stuff in there..."

:: She looked at Mike again. Maybe, if she stayed close to him, she wouldn't be quite as nervous? She glanced at the door and took a small step towards Mike. ::
