She sobbed, the flood of tears seemingly with no end, her body wracked with convulsions of grief. Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice. She picked her head up from where it had rested on her drawn up knees.
Karen…
She wiped her nose on the back of her arm and reached up to turn off the water.
Delilah found herself enveloped in a huge white towel, its softness actually comforting in a way. She sniffed loudly, wiping her eyes with the towel. She leaned against Karen, putting her head on the Doctor’s shoulder.
“He has them, Karen. God knows what he’s doing to them. And I stood there and watched him take them and I did nothing. NOTHING! They would have been better off I’d just left and never gone to Aerie in the first place.”
Her tears began to flow again, despite her best efforts at controlling them. MorningStar at this point was well and truly without hope, her light all but extinguished. She couldn’t survive losing Morgan a second time – and what were superpowers worth, if you couldn’t even save the ones you loved when they needed you?
