:: Alison looked at Nicolas and Delilah. The rift between them was widening. Did he NOT see that the very thing he accused her of is what Morgan accused HIM of!? holding the actions of HIS alternate against him just HE did the same with Delilah.::

Nicolas...

:: but she thought better of it. Part of her was growing weary of him ALREADY. He was so DEFENSIVE with Delilah. Had he forgotten she was one of the FIRST to give him a chance? Alison cared for Delilah...and it angered her to see Mike and Nicolas constantly going at her but Nicolas was trying...and she HOPED he would continue to make his effort. If it had to be said...she'd be the one to say it.::

:: for now, she lifted her hand.::

We're not going to try anything...not now. I know that Morgan should have the final word...but We're not in any shape to continue. NONE of us. Talking tonight...getting our feelings out...it helped but it is not enough. Not by a longshot! There's alot of hurt...alot of rawness from the fear and unresolved issues. That's how Barbas came BACK so soon.

For now...we need to settle our minds, and prepare ourselves. Barbas has been baiting me with Cameron and he's WAITING for me or anyone else to come rushing "in". Tomrrow is another day...it will be time to strike the final blow...and rescue my brother.

I'll stay with Delilah tonight. Blaze, go with Morgan. Nicolas, you stay here with Sharon...

:: pausing for a moment.::

The Zaccharas have taken their leave for the evening, Haleigh...you better check your apartment, and quickly.

:: realizing the parting gift Claudia left for the hybrid.::

Delilah led the way back to apartment #1. She sank down into the cushions of her couch, picked up a pillow and put it over her face. She let a scream out into it before dropping it into her lap.

"That man...no BOY...is so infuriating! If I was caught in a steel trap, I would gnaw my own leg off just so I didn't have to listen to him speak!"

She sighed and began massaging her temples.

"Are you sure it's best to wait to go after Cameron? I hate seeing this eat at you, Alison. Are we really going to be any better off tomorrow as tonight?"

She looked up questioningly. It was an honest question: she didn't doubt Alison, or her powers of perception. She did trust the Seer, she just wanted...no needed...something to do.

Apartment 1

:: Alison slide down onto the couch , narrowing her eyes ala' Prue Halliwell, a rushing, chiming sound is heard as she locks Delilah's door behind them.::

*sigh*

Dee...understand this. Those of us who know you, who love you...we won't let Mike OR Nicolas drive you away...and we DON'T agree with them when the say the things they say about you. THIS is why it always comes down to US vs. THEM. they MAKE it that way.

I don't want to fight with them...I actually believe Nicolas is TRYING to do RIGHT, but he still has a long way to go. We can thank Dominique for actually taking a sort of..."mentor" role toward him lately...and from a strategic point of view....the revelation that Dominique is Nicolas' Aunt will keep the Sisterhood out of our hair for a LONG while now. They want the "Truce" we established during the menace of SET to remain just as much as we do.

Think of Nicolas as young colt. He starts off with drive and determination...thinking he can RUN before he can walk! but his inexperience and immaturity causes him to make a mess of things as he stumbles about and requires the intervention of others and he may not respond well to correction or criticism...but as time passes, he starts to see, understand and LEARN. Dominique told him that he lost his way...that it's HIS FAULT and no one else's and that he must come back from it and ENDURE whatever adversity he faces along the way.

He's moved in that...but he seems to have a problem with you just as Mike does with Ava.

It's understandble in Mike's case, that was a trauma! BUT he should also take a note from Haleigh...who is able to deal with Sharon and even ME...inspite of BOTH OF US trying to ...kill HER at points in the past.

:: it actually gave Alison a bit of pause to say that.::

For Nicolas? He still doesnt seem to understand..that what he's doing to you, holding the actions of Justicer Trelevan over you is the same thing he wishes Morgan...and Karen would NOT hold over HIM with the news of HIS alternate murdering HER alternate.

:: Without returning Delilah's eye contact....Alison instead shuts her eyes. opening her hand...a swirl of dark orbs forms as she conjures...a goblet of HEMLOCK::

I need a drink...

:: and she promptly GULPS DOWN the Hemlock, which then refills itself.::

Delilah...how many times is this going to happen? how many times is Cameron going to LEAVE my protection and then get CAPTURED! It seems like EVERY villain from Malice to Barbas to my own sister, knew that my weakness when it comes to him...and i'm TIRED of it!

I'm WEARY...like i dont even know if I can BE afraid anymore....

:: runs her hand through the white streak in her hair.::

do you see this?

he TOUCHED me, Delilah...he nearly HAD me. Had Firebird not pulled me away...he might have consumed me...Cameron is alive...probably hurt...alone...and scared...reaching out to me. and once again, I can't do anything about it...

my fear has been realized...so there's no where left for ME to go but UP.
and so...no. there's nothing i can do tonight.

:: she grips her goblet ever tighter.::

If he hadnt been so foolish...and left ...AGAIN....

this wouldnt have HAPPENED!

:: the goblet SHATTERS in her hand....and Alison cracks with grief. she could be "human" among those she trusted. Delilah was one of those. Alison was WEARY! Barbas had taken her places she would NOT have gone. He blew past her defenses and exposed her deepest fears and insecurities. FIRST in front of Nicolas, THEN in front of EVERYONE ELSE in the alley. She was humiliated! and of course she felt like she had FAILED her brother...even if he WAS partially responsible. ::

Nicolas nearly reached out to Morgan as she finally expressed trust for him..then halted. He decided to say or do nothing further as Alison decided that they would need to wait until tomorrow to strike back at Barbas.

Everyone else filed out, and Nicolas was left there with Sharon. He nodded slowly as he looked at the mutate. He did not require much normal sustenance, but he did need to meditate in order to stay focused for the day ahead, in order to digest the issues raised here.

He closed his eyes, going into his familiar meditative position, clearly in not much of a mood to talk right now. The syringe still lay in Sharon's hands as he fell into concentration...

...opening his eyes in a dark place. Nicolas shook his head for a moment, then realized what had occurred, so when a voice emerged from the darkness, he was unsurprised.

So, godling. It appears that you the sorceress is too soft to end your existence. you have charmed her yet again...for as long as it LASTS. No matter. There is another, isn't there?

From the darkness emerged Delilah...no...Justicer Trelevan! And Nicolas' eyes widened in horror as he beheld her new pet.

The shock from the sight of her and him sent out a mental cascade, utilizing ALL of his powers as his vision was shown to random members of the Six and Dominique whether by mental vision of by holographic projection. Mike, Karen, Morgan, Sharon, Haleigh and Dominique would see his ordeal. Meanwhile his body began to emanate progressive more powerful waves of force that increased the closer you got to him. It was trying to protect itself, but it only managed to keep Sharon away from him as she tried to administer the syringe.

The sight Nicolas NOW saw...it was him, but not him, not really. Not anymore. It was a snarling thing...his legs were twisted backwards...supine like a goat or dog and his hands had grown claws as he loped in, chained with adamantium, held easily in the Justicer's hand. And his eyes...RED and glowing as his flanks showed runes. It was a combination of both his SET form and whatever had happened to him in the other timeline. The THING charged and was held back by a pull of the chain from the Justicer as she regarded the young demigod.

You are an abomination..a threat to all that that I hold dear. You will not leave this place alive!

Those words made clear to those that watched what Nicolas fear was, and why he seemed to be at odds with Delilah. She represented order, justice, fairness...and ultimately she would represent his end as he was destined to become THIS, a mindless monster devoid of all of the education, manners, love, anything that Gustav had taught or given him, losing the only things that he had left from the man who loved him best.

With that, she released the monstrous form of Nicolas upon the young man. Surprisingly, he matched it blow for blow as he fought with ferocity and, increasingly, anger. This was Barbas' plan, as he showed the others Nicolas as he became more monstrous himself, his Set aspect taking charge as he gained control of the other beast, flipping it and gaining mount position.

Roaring, Nicolas began to choke his alternate, killing it slowly as he began to sqeeze it. But then, he saw his reflection in the things eyes and...STOPPED, jumping up and stepping back. His eyes betrayed tears and he returned to normal as he said one word.

NO. That is not me. Not now. Not EVER.

reaching out his hand, Nicolas dissipated the apparition. Having faced his own demons, he turned to face the Justicer as she cracked an enegy whip.

You owe me a hound, MUTANT!

Nicolas began to reach out his hand again, then he allowed it to fall.

I could accept what you had done concerning Bishop. But this? I could not accept it. I tried to think that I could separate it, but I could not, I failed YET again, and when you stepped towards me the other day, THIS is what I saw. And I used my powers on you, and I was WRONG for that. And I will still not use my powers on you again.

But this is not you, not REALLY. And I wish I could have you back again, but I will wallow in regret another time. Begone Justicer...

The Justicer peels away, revealing Delilah from this timeline.

maybe one day we will undertsand each other better, there is much to repair, but now...

Delilah fades away and he turns to face Barbas, who is enormous in his true form here. He could run right now, escape to his body, but he will not, and the vortex surrounding his physical body intensifies as he makes a decision.

Barbas? You have someone I want, and I will not leave without him.

Nicolas' axe manifests in his hands and he is encased in a glowing royal blue astral armor.

Either release him or I will TAKE him from you.

Barbas laughed as he strode forward.

WHELP!! You cannot defeat me here. I will tear you apart and leave just enough to scare the others into submission. They will all fall to me..and the your precious Morgan will be consumed.

With that, Nicolas struck at the demon with a roar, and the battle was joined. It was powerful and Nicolas was fighting valiantly but those who were witness began to realize that he could not win, would not survive as his injuries began once again to pile up even as Barbas seemed to regenerate as he was fed by the fears he'd fomented in the city and the spirit of the young witch he had consumed...

Hotel Roosevelt -- Tropicana

Zach sighed, swirling the last sip of Jack around with the ice in his glass, wishing he wasn't so goddamn bored. And worried…. And stuck here while Haleigh was running around with her friends, fighting off some new serial killer. He hated sitting around here on his hands but he had his own role and there was no reason for him to make himself a unnecessary target. Even with his abilities… there were enough cooks in the kitchen.

And besides that… he was pretty sure that nobody in the Six [or its peripheral allies] liked him. The women seemed to disprove of him on principle, and Nicolas and Mike CLEARLY weren't fans. Sharon probably didn't mind him, after all… they had history…. But talk about AWKWARD.

So if he didn't need to be there… if nobody wanted him there [including Haleigh, for personal reasons]… and since Haleigh was so capable of taking care of herself… Zach would be fine to sit here, bored almost to death…. He didn't need to be a hero.

He sat at the Tropicana's main bar, his back to the entrance… he wasn't expecting anyone. He watched the TV overhead, the same boring shit that's always on ESPN. He drained his glass, blissfully unaware of who had just shown up.

The Topicana was pretty dead for the most part. One couple was sitting at a secluded table in the corner, making out so heavily they were damn near having sex. Two older well dressed woman passed Claudia, as she entered, on their way to the ladies room. And about four men sat at the bar, seperated by a few bar stools inbetween each of them. Walking up to the bar, the tender spotted Claudia and immediately began to make his way from the far side of the bar toward where she was approaching. Giving him a small smirk, she leaned forward along the marble counter, giving him her full attention.

"Martini. Three olives, please."

Bartender: Right away, miss.

Giving him an appreciative smile, Claudia follwed the bartender with her eyes as he began to make her drink. But someone even more interesting caught her eye. Low and behold, Zachary Armani was sitting at the far end of the bar, nursing yet another Jack Daniels, with the same sullen face he had the night she approached him before. With a low laugh, Claudia slid onto one of the barstools and crossed her legs, staying a few stools away from Zach.

"Fancy seeing you here again. Looking so bored and depressed."

The bartender placed Claudia's martini in front of her; the brunette immediately picking it up and stiring the olives around in her drink.

"I would have imagined you and Haleigh would be snuggled on the couch in each others arms, watching Wheel of Fortune."

Raising the glass to her lips, Claudia's smirk wasn't hard to miss, even as she took a long, leisurely sip of the cool liquid.

"Or whatever other dull and boring things couples do to pretend their relationships are perfect and normal."

Licking the residue from her drink off her lips, Claudia sat back, noting the three other men oogling her very obviously. One of pretty skeevy looking; a trucker type. Another looked like a buisness man; clean cut but not very handsome. And the last an overweight man, looking like he just ate his signifigant other. All pathetic, and all wishing they could have one night with her. Zach didn't fit in here. He was handsome, smart, and cocky in a way only Claudia could appriciate. Running her red manicured finger along the base of the martini glass, Claudia glanced up at the football game playing on the big screen. Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants.

"How's the game? [glancing over at him with a single eyebrow raised] Let me guess... Cowboys fan?"

With a playful smirk, Claudia liked challenges. She liked knowing when a man wanted her so badly but HAD to stay away out of obligation and the 'rules of relationships'. It was even more appealing to her. Zach was the type of man who wanted to have fun. Not sit around waiting at home like some 1950's housewife. Claudia knew this, and was definitely going to play that to her advantage.

Claudia: "Fancy seeing you here again. Looking so bored and depressed."

Zach's gaze travelled left, drawn towards the sound of her voice… he truly didn't believe his ears but indeed… there she was, a couple of barstools down, looking as sinfully delicious as Zach knew her to be. He played it cool, looking away as if it was no special sight, signaling to the barkeep that he'd like a refill. He looked back over at her, a sly smile on his lips.

"You're still alive… congratulations. You won't be for long though… if you can't find a way to RESTRAIN yourself. I know it'll be hard… I CAN be quite irresistible… but you'll just have to find a way. If you keep stalking me like this… I won't be able to convince Haleigh to let you live again."

Claudia: "I would have imagined you and Haleigh would be snuggled on the couch in each others arms, watching Wheel of Fortune."

He kept his eyes on her… she was more interesting than any of the other scenery… and he knew that she was teasing him… not just with her words, but with her smirk, her demeanor… he was determined not to allow it to work this time. It would be easier than the other day, when they were alone in his room. This time he was dressed… and there were enough people around to offer a sense of public security.

Claudia: "Or whatever other dull and boring things couples do to pretend their relationships are perfect and normal."

Now Zach was the one with the smirk, his smug and suggestive. He wasn't taking her bait.

"You wouldn't know, would you? It's okay, your lack of relationship skills won't hamper you too badly… you're still probably gonna make someone a really great trophy wife one day."

He winked at her, then turned back to his drink, glancing up at the tv again, as if she was only mildly interesting. She asked him how the game was… his response came flatly sarcastic.

"Awesome."

She ventured a guess that he was a Cowboys fan. He was, in fact… but she didn't need to know she was right. He deflected:

"I've got a more interesting question. [making eye contact with her] Did you already know…. Who I was and why I was here… the night we met?"

Delilah’s irritated face softened as the pain came through Alison’s voice. She was about to get up to try and soothe her friend when the glass Alison held shattered in her hand. Delilah jumped, startled as if awaking from a nightmare. Now she jumped up.

“Alison!”

She was instantly at her side, taking the remnants of the glass from her hand.

“Alison, this is not your fault! You take care of all of us, just like you always took care of Cameron. He is his own man – thanks largely to you. He has made his own choices, as we all have. You are not responsible for all the evil in the world, and you do more than anyone to fight that, to protect everyone you can. Even when we don’t deserve it.”

Her hands gripped Alison’s arms as she forced her friend to look her in the eyes.

“We will save Cameron from this. And we will send Barbas back to hell or wherever he came from.”

She let go of Alison’s arms, folding her instead into a hug. The Seer wasn’t really a “hugger” but this was a special case – rarely did Alison let her emotions get the best of her, a telling reaction to the strain of Barbas, for sure.

“You and Morgan take the world onto your shoulders – when will you see that you have the rest of us to share the weight?”

She let Alison go, then went to the kitchen to grab a clean towel and began to pick the shattered glass from Alison’s hand.

<< Morgan walked with Blaze, and looked over at her younger sister...alternate or not. Firebird was taller than Foxfire and so she was almost eye level with Morgan now.>>

You did good tonight..."Firebird".

<< Morgan said as they headed across the courtyard, up the spiral staircase and to apt. 4. tinkerbell and the kitten were there to greet them..and hungry! mewing and weaving about their legs. >>

the babies are hungry!

<< she scooped up Tink while Blaze took the kitten. Cuddling Tink as they move toward the kitchen, the sisters prepare evening meals for the cats and afterward Morgan offers Blaze an evening cocktail as they take a moment to just exhale. Morgan doesnt turn on any other lights in the large living room as they both slump down into the large leather sectional. thunder rumbles softly outside.>>

I'm so tired...of barbas, of the drama of Nicolas...ALL OF IT! I'm ready to LIVE again. That was the whole point of coming out here! for me to reclaim my role in the world of fashion! not to be haunted by the ghost of failed relationships and centuries old demons with a hard on for Hecate and her descendants!

<< lifting one of her long, flawless legs up...she checks out her high heeled boot in the beam of moonlight that shines through the slightly opened blinds.>>

Barbas' touch...it's left me DRAINED...mentally...to my SOUL. I can hardly CARE anymore. I want him DEAD and yet...from what Alison and the Darkhold say...you CAN'T truly vanquish him. My grammie defeated him years ago when my mom was a young girl, but my mother NEVER talks about it. it's almost as if she doesnt REMEMBER, like she is under...a SPELL?

and Grammie died when i was 6....in 1983.

<< drinking some of her cocktail, Morgan ran her hand through her hair, the shorter length of it prooved functional in battle. it was one of the many steps she had taken since arriving here to distance herself rom her recent past. so far it was one of the FEW things that had actually worked.>>

I really want to know what we'll find out when we reach Grammie...

<< Morgan was seriously pondering casting a spell to call for a lost witch...but her thought was interrupted as she and Blaze were treated to an apparition...not QUITE as thorough as Limbo's temporal phantoms but...>>

Zach: You're still alive....congratulations.

Claudia simply shrugged as if to say, 'what did you expect', even though she knew Zach expected Haleigh to kill her...or atleast maim her a little bit. Pulling an olive off the long plastic cocktail pick with her teeth, she chewed slowly, listening to Zach proclaim how irrisistable he was and how Claudia needed to stay away from him in order to live. Chuckling, Claudia pointed the cocktail pick [with two olives remaining speared to it] at him, smiling.

"Don't flatter yourself, handsome. My sister booked us a suite here.....it seems our apartment is infested with bugs."

Deciding not to elaborate the fact she meant cameras and microphones rather than insects, Zach was a smart man, and knew Haleigh extremely well. He would pick up on it.

"Which leads me back to my original question. Why are you still staying here? I figured after your 'much anticipated' reconciliation with your lover, you'd be setting up shop at her place. [pouting playful] Awe...don't tell me you've already hit a bump in the road?"

Smirking, Claudia stired what remaining liquid she had left in her martini before lifting the glass to her lips and drinking the last bit of it. She didn't need to call the tender over for him to know she wanted another one; he already placed a fresh glass in front of her before Claudia had the chance to put the empty one on the bar.

Zach: You wouldn't know, would you? It's okay, your lack of relationship skills won't hamper you too badly… you're still probably gonna make someone a really great trophy wife one day.

"Never getting married. [with a grin] Try again."

She stated casually, knowing Zach was trying to get under her skin by throwing her obvious lack of 'real relationships' in her face. The fact was, Claudia didn't care. Popping another olive into her mouth, Zach dully stated that the game was 'awesome' before changing the subject. he asked if she knew who he was the night she seduced him. Claudia's face remained even for a few seconds before she shook her head.

"Why does it matter? You've already painted me out to be the villan. Not that I mind playing that role."

Tossing the empty cocktail pick into her martini glass, Claudia slid off of her stool and made her way over to Zach, taking a seat next to him.

"You were a means to an end, Zach. Haleigh wanted to use my family and our resources as a 'weapon' against the people she wanted dead. We do the dirty work for her and she gets what she wants; then she stores us away like one of her hand guns until she needs us again. I wasn't about to have my sister be used like that. Have her end up taking the fall if the situation went badly. So I came to you. I knew Haleigh was possessive over the things she considered hers; especially men. Even if they WEREN'T hers at the time. So I slept with you. Now she wants nothing more to do with us....aside from wanting me dead of course. [chuckling] But that's a daily occurrence anyway, so..[sighing] Look, Zach. I like you; you seem like a nice guy. So i'm going to give you some friendly advice. Take it or leave it.....Haleigh is the type of woman who NEEDS a warm body next to her. Who NEEDS to be in a relationship with a man. She can't function any other way. So she goes from one relationship, to another, to another. First it was Cameron King, then you, then Nicolas King, then you AGAIN. See the pattern? She will eventually find an excuse to leave you and go find another man. It's just a matter of time."

Standing from the barstool, Claudia revealed some telling information. She knew MORE about Haleigh's past [and the rest of the six] than any of them realized. It was the perks of having many different people on her payroll.

"My advice? Beat her to the punch. Otherwise it's going to be many-a-lonely night, sitting here at the bar....waiting for her to make time for you."

Giving him a sincere look, for once, Claudia wasn't trying to manipulate the situation, but actually trying HELP OUT Zach. But she was sure he wouldn't see it that way. He would see it as her trying to break them up, get him into bed, and ruin his life. Blah blah blah. Story of HER life. Regardless, Claudia turned away and headed back down to her original seat. Glancing up at the TV, she noted that the Cowboys beat the Giants, 21-7.

"Huh. Well it looks like the night will end on a positive note for you after all."

[ Morgan and those select others weren't the only ones that were watching or aware. Dominique Deveraux a.k.a The Black Queen/ ISIS , Nicolas' aunt was also more than aware.]

[ Dominique was a polished, glamorous chanteuse, but many moons ago, Set stripped her of her life, her sister...all that she held dear. She'd been traumatized before Isis, the egyptian goddess of rebirth and magick restored her and annointed Dominique as her living avatar for the generation to come. Her first reunion with her nephew was tragic and deadly...but since then...a small step here and there...and their relationship as aunt and nephew remained "cordial" if not slightly aloof. But despite how Dominique FELT about Nicolas, she had a duty to safeguard him not only for his own sake but the world's.]

[ Barbas was now forcing her hand, if for no other reason than to STOP him from undoing what LITTLE progress that had been made as Nicolas attempted to fix the MESS he made in the lives of his "family". ]

[ an explosive sand storm WHIPS with FURY across the astral plane. the sand particles now sparkling with ancient egyptian magick as Isis' humming can be heard in the air. finally, in a flash of golden light, Isis, dressed in her garb as the Black Queen appears.]

ENOUGH of your wreckless abandon, Nicolas!

[ she had to seperate them before it was too late. their battle was fierce. grabbing him by the back of his neck, she SNATCHES him away from Barbas and hurls him away. cooly stepping between the path of Barbas to Nicolas. Her face is enshrouded in shadow.]

Have a CARE for what your Harbinger says. She sees that which you do NOT!

Barbas: ahhh...Dominique Deveraux, my pretty black bird. You are as beautifull and regal as the goddess you channel. What is with these "old broads" [ Isis and Hecate] wanting to recapture the human ideal youth by having "avatars" now.

[Dominique stood tall and unmoved by Barbas' attempt to provoke her.]

Nicolas is not for you...ancient, twisted demon. I know who you are...we ALL do. You have vexed many through the centuries, including my people.

Barbas: and you wanted to remember how GOOD it felt?

[ Dominique does not move as he slowly waves his hand...his long shadow passes over Dominique.]

[with contempt]: powerfull as you are, you cannot touch me demon. I have already been CONFRONTED with my worst fear...and SURVIVED...TRIUMPHED! [Set, her sister, Nicolas...and all related]

[she was RIGHT. Barbas, for the first time since HECATE and then VERNA had come across someone that he COULDNT touch!]

[Barbas falters...as Dominique's hair begins to blow and her cape flows.]

RUN now, ancient demon. Lest i spend as much time as i can making you WISH that you COULD be vanquished!

[ and with...she transforms into the explosive sand storm cloud and attacks Barbas with savage instinct ...the attack is as savage as it is detailed to the smallest particle as she tears at and ravages his body...before flowing into his nose, mouth and down into his throat and lungs...causing Barbas to choke, sputter and look VISIBLY pained.]

in the air: it is as good a day as any to die. Nicolas may be intent on throwing his life away...but there are those of us who know better...and see clearer! REMEMBER THAT, Barbas!

[and with that, Dominique's sand storm EXPLODES, as Barbas' surprised chokes and gasps are drowned out by the explosion. Nicolas is propelled BACK to physical reality, just as Sharon is about to SHATTER his concentration and his wall with her sonic scream.]

[ Dominique stands inside of Sharon's apartment...her cape wrapped her tall form and she looks PISSED as she glares at Nicolas. With Sharon looking rather agitated herself.]

I am growing TIRED of your foolishness, Nicolas.

If Barbas consumes you...then SET is loosed upon the world AGAIN!

If i have to seal you in AMBER in order to safeguard the world from the TERROR that is your parentage...then i WILL.

[ and more than that Dominique was getting upset that it seemed Nicolas was drawing more and more upon her. She did not WANT that.]

As Nicolas battled Barbas, he felt a manicured hand on his neck and he KNEW who was there even as he was hurled aside. He rolled and took time to recover as he watched Isis deal with Barbas. He even smirked a bit as she exposed the demon, showing the young demigod that the power of the demon lay in fear ALONE. He tucked away that knowledge and the confidence that watching her humble him gave him, and was sore but almost blissful as he returned to his body and listened to her scold him. The fact that she cared a LITTLE and did not want to but helped anyway was music to his psyche even if her words were rather harsh in their tone. He set his jaw with a crack and held the sorceress' gaze.

I am growing TIRED of your foolishness, Nicolas.

If Barbas consumes you...then SET is loosed upon the world AGAIN!

If i have to seal you in AMBER in order to safeguard the world from the TERROR that is your parentage...then i WILL.

Point taken, Dominique. Thank you for your assistance. If it matters to you, HE started it. I was minding my business meditating when he made the first move and...I just COULDN'T let it go. It was quite the learning experience in any case. I would say more, but you seem in no mood to chat.

Nicolas shifted a bit nervously, still warm from the verbal lashing he'd taken from Isis. He tried to change the subject, standing quickly.

Where are my manners? Care for a drink? Or something to eat?

Claudia mentioned a bug problem, and Zach smirked proudly. Whatever Haleigh'd done in retaliation had chased them out of their apartment because they'd discovered they were being watched.

"Oh, your sister's here? [feigned innocence] Hmm…. I wonder why you aren't with her."

Claudia tried to twist a knife that wasn't there [yet, since he didn't know about Cameron]. She suggested they'd hit a bump in the road. Zach responded nonchalantly.

"We have…. But not in the way you think."

The only reason they weren't together now was that stupid Barbas problem. It'd be over soon enough, Zach wasn't worried. Claudia asserted that she'd never get married.

"Never say NEVER, Beautiful. I wouldn't DARE suggest that YOU would marry for love."

She played off his question, asking why it mattered, saying that she was already the villain in his eyes and it didn't bother her. He shrugged.

"Call me curious. I don't know… maybe I'd respect you a lot more if I knew you got yourself into this mess on PURPOSE."

She came and sat next to him… and started telling him all sorts of flattering things, like he was a means to an end, and she only slept with him to drive a wedge between Haleigh and the Zaccharas business wise, and that Haleigh would move on eventually. Zach smiled. Claudia knew some history… but she didn't know the HALF of it, really.

"ACTUALLY… First it was Cameron, and then it was me, and then it was Cameron some more, but then Cameron left so it was me, but then he came back again and I wasn't sure, but then he left again quickly and it would have been me except Sharon came back… and THEN it was Nicolas… but I guess Haleigh finally figured out what she REALLY wanted, so now it's me again. [he sits back] JUST so you have your timeline straight. I'm not under any illusions about Haleigh, nor is she about me."

Claudia: "My advice? Beat her to the punch. Otherwise it's going to be many-a-lonely night, sitting here at the bar….waiting for her to make time for you."

[with a smile] "You know… that's JUST the kind of thing I would expect YOU to say. [a bit patronizing] Look, Claudia…. Your concern for me is endearing, really…. But I'm comfortable with the choices I've made. [reaching up to graze her chin] ESPECIALLY the ones I've made involving YOU."

He brought his hand back down, she went back to her seat a few stools down.

Claudia: "Huh. Well it looks like the night will end on a positive note for you after all."

He followed her gaze… the final score of the game was in his favor.

"Lucky me."

Morg's place

Blaze remained quiet as each teammate addressed their fears. Each person in that room took the time to put their guard down and finally be open. While it was an emotional experience for all of them Blaze was shocked as Morgan, Alison, and Nicolas were truthful.

Stepping closer as Nicolas took a step towards her sister. Blaze could see Morgan felt a little uneasy. Stepping out from the side of Morgan to protectively stand in front of her sibling. Even if Blaze was just an alternate she wouldn't allow Morgan to be hurt or even uncomfortable. If Nicolas wanted Morgan's trust as well as her own then he needed to step up his game. Granted, his remarks were touching but even Blaze was skeptical for words were just words.

As everyone departed Blaze walked along her older sister. A small shard of wind blowing across her sepia hair.

You did good tonight..."Firebird".

"Thank you, Spellbinder."

Winking over to the statuesque blonde, Blaze was flattered by the compliment. Morgan didn't give them easily so it was a big deal to the fire elemental.

Ascending up the stairs and inside of Morgan's apartment to find Tinkerbell and the white kitten, who had yet to be named.

the babies are hungry!

Scooping down to cradle the white kitten as they walked inside. "Yes, they are. It's one of the few times Tink is very vocal." She teased before setting the kitten down onto the kitchen floor to assist in feeding the babies.

Finally both siblings sat down in the large leather sectional. The rumble outside caused Blaze to gaze at Morgan.

"I'm not going to sit here and play Dr. Phil and try to argue that Nicolas is your black knight in shinning armor. I think the whole team is tired of the drama especially with Barbas. But you ARE living Morgan! I know that's easier said than done but trust me when I say...you've got it easy here! You have your family, your friends, and even a great career! While I understand you're hurting and haunted by these ghosts. Don't let them get to you. Do you REALIZE how powerful you are?! You can control time and space and you even have a whole horde of demons in Limbo at your disposal. I think that's pretty cool honestly."

Blaze didn't candy coat the situation but she was also sympathetic for Morgan's feelings too. Morgan wasn't a child and she wasn't a baby. She also wasn't made of glass either. While she had a few set backs Blaze had faith in her to turn it around.

"That's where your wrong. You still care....I saw the way you looked at Nicolas earlier. I know that even though Mike infuriates you you try to be tolerant of him for Karen's sake. Deep down under all of that ice....is a beating heart. It's exhausting and everything Barbas has done is wearing on us all. But fear will always exist just like war. We can defeat it but most likely we can't destroy it. But we all made a huge step today. I hate to say this but even Nicolas and Michael made an effort. Maybe Karen was under a spell. If you had a daughter would you want to recall the demons you fought or a grandaughter? If I was a witch I'd cast a spell at least to give them an ounce of a normal life without nightmares."

I really want to know what we'll find out when we reach Grammie...

Blaze smirked like a Cheshire cat, "Who says we can't find out right now?" Blaze placed her drink down on the coaster of the table in front of the large leather sectional. Turning on her side to face Morgan, "You wouldn't by any chance have a spirit board?" Blaze canted her head to the side as her eyes sparkled full of mischief.

The two were momentarily interrupted by an apparition. Frowning, Blaze watched as the events played out.

See how he's blocked Sharon from helping him!? Now...I may have to go BACK there...I said I trusted him...but can he CONTROL himself? Everyone wants to draw a comparison between ME and the INFERNO with HIM. I don't see it being quite parallel or EQUAL. He hasnt been the same since Set.

"I don't know are you sure Nicolas is straight, honey? He has more drama then a queen on gay pride week."

Running her fingers through her hair as she continued to watch, "Nicolas' biggest problem is his ego. He needs to accept help or otherwise it will be his downfall. It's not equal you were provoked. Nicolas was manipulated, there's a stark difference."

There's hope for him after all...

<< she said quietly as she looked at the altnernate Delilah. Justicer Trelevan! she was filled with hate...her love of the LAW trumped her love of her friends and family in that timeline...the same timeline that FIREBIRD came from! >>

I'm so glad we were able to LIBERATE that Delilah...Bishop...he did such a number on her! THAT is why I don't trust men... they can take you..hurt you...try to use and abuse you!

<< Nicolas seemed to get ahold of himself...at least for a moment.>>

"There's hope for anyone but it's a matter if he can keep it up and stick it through." Blaze fell quiet as they watched Justicer Trelevan. Blaze recalled the coldness and malice in the woman.

"You and me both! Not ALL men are like that though. I've loved a few in my time...before they were killed." Reaching back across for her drink to sip it. "A man who hurts you doesn't deserve to live in my opinion. HOWEVER, I suppose we all make mistakes."

<< soon, Nicolas apparently was confronted by Barbas...Morgan wanted to get up, but she was truly tired...drained to her soul. all she could do was watch as Nicolas FOOLISHLY tried to challenge Barbas for Cameron.>>

What is he DOING! Didnt he hear what Alison said?

<< she shrieks as he battles with the demon of fear and begins to show signs of LOSING!>>

"As I said he's got an ego the size of California!" Blaze sat forward to watch before she stood up prepared to get Alison before the scenery changed and there stood Nicolas' Aunt, Dominique!

"Look, Dominique has come."

If anyone could get through to Nicolas it was Dominique. Glancing back at Morgan, "See, he's fine." Blaze had noticed the shriek in her sister's tone, a sign of worry. Another inkling Morgan still worried about Nicolas despite her fear of men. It seemed there was hope for all including Morgan Victoria.

Zach decided to elaborate on Haleigh's weird addiction of jumping back and forth between him and Cameron King...if he was trying to make a point, it definitely flew over Claudia's head. He basically said exactly what she had said, yet making Haleigh look WORSE, and him more pathetic for wanting to stay with her.

Zach: ...but I guess Haleigh finally figured out what she REALLY wanted, so now it's me again.

"And you're okay having Haleigh settle for you? I'm disappointed Zach. I thought you were the type of man who never settled for second best."

Claudia stated a bit harshly; not understand how Zach didn't see how ridiculous he was sounding. How Haleigh had pussy whipped him into submission. It was sad really. But love does that to people: change them for the worse. Make them the groveling and pathetic versions of themselves.

Zach: Your concern for me is endearing, really…. But I'm comfortable with the choices I've made. [reaching up to graze her chin] ESPECIALLY the ones I've made involving YOU.

[leaning forward, whispering] "And that fact alone speaks volumes."

After heading back to her seat, Claudia finished off her martini. Glancing over at Zach for a moment, it was actually strange to hear that he didn't regret sleeping with her; especially since he was back together with Haleigh. Most men resented Claudia--hated her afterwards. He was either a very rare man, or maybe he wasn't as happy has he proclaimed to be. Either way, it intrigued Claudia.

Withdrawing her cell phone, Claudia noted it was nearly 11pm. Sighing, she knew that neither Clara or Johnny would be sleeping; especially after Barbas' last attack. As much as she found their close knit relationship obnoxious at times, Johnny seemed to be able to get past the walls Clara put up....and Claudia was hoping that was exactly what he was doing now. She could see how scared Clara was depsite her efforts to hide it from her. She was shaken in a way Claudia had never seen before. Closing her eyes for a moment, Claudia put her phone down on the bartop and called the tender over.

"Another martini....skip the olives. They take up too much room."

Hotel Roosevelt -- Tropicana

Claudia: "I'm disappointed Zach. I thought you were the type of man who never settled for second best."

"Oh? What did you think I was doing with YOU?"

He shot back. It was an ass thing to say… but he didn't like Claudia's spin on things.

"You know little about Haleigh, even LESS about me, and NOTHING about our relationship, so why don't you do yourself a favor and stay OUT of it?"

He responded, quite defensively. For a minute they both withdrew and sat at their own seats. Zach inspected his ice… Claudia looked at her phone and sighed before ordering another Martini. As much attention as she drew to the fact that he was sitting here at the bar alone, she was doing the SAME thing. The only difference was that she HAD people back at her room… and she apparently would rather be here in the bar than with her sister. He exhaled slowly, as the bartender brought him a fresh drink… and then he picked it up and left his seat, coming over to sit next to her. He shook out a napkin as if waving a white flag. It wasn't like he had much else to do… or anyone more interesting to talk to. There was no harm in talking, right? It seemed like she needed someone to talk to anyway.

"So this thing with me and Haleigh… it's complicated. And I don't know how it's going to go. But what I DO know… is I tried living without her. I tried letting her go…. And I'd MUCH rather sit here in this bar, waiting for her… than sit in New York, knowing I'll probably NEVER see her again. [taking a drink] But enough about me…. You look pretty lonely yourself. [pausing] Wanna talk about it?"

Hotel Roosevelt -- Marilyn Suite

Johnny knocked on the bathroom door… and Clara opened it almost immediately, wrapped in one of the hotel's bathrobes.

Johnny: "Hey."

[small smile]"Hey."

Johnny: "I was getting worried. Are you feeling better?"

Clara looked a bit sheepish, as she ran her fingers through wet hair and nodded.

"Yea, yes. I just… needed some alone time, to clear my head. [a sighing laugh] Now I just don't have any clothes."

Johnny: "I'll go back and get--"

"No… Davidoff has probably bombed the place by now."

Johnny: "Oh. Do you… want my shirt or something?"

[gracious smile] "No, thank you. This robe is pretty nice."

Johnny: "Okay. I started a fire… and put on a pot for hot cocoa. Your sister's still out, so its just us. Oh! And I found something you'll love. Cover your eyes. Come on, don't cheat, I'll cover them."

"John… this is silly..."

She complained, but only halfheartedly. She feigned a sigh but surrendered, letting him cover her eyes and taking his direction as he lead her around. He took her into the lounge that adjoined the two bedrooms of the suite. The room was warm and cozy, the fireplace in use. Johnny oriented her in a specific direction and then uncovered her eyes. A beautiful baby grand piano sat in the corner… it was the perfect anecdote to being holed up in this hotel room.

Johnny: "What do you say… shall we play Heart and Soul?"

[with a smile] "Absolutely."

Johnny: "I'm taking the easy part."

[soft laugh] "Of course."

The conversation between Zach and Claudia had become heated. Zach defensively standing up for his relationship with Haleigh and lashing out at Claudia's 'lack of knowledge' about it. She took his harsh words toward her with a grain of salt. She knew she had struck a cord with him; he was just too stubborn to admit it.

With her eyes trained at the TV as Zach made his way over to her this time, Claudia slowly shifted her gaze to him.

Zach: So this thing with me and Haleigh… it's complicated.

"Isn't everything?"

Claudia stated dryly. He further explained how he couldn't live without her, and that waiting for her was better than not having her at all. Looking at him for a moment, Claudia was actually a bit envious that Haleigh had someone who cared so deeply about her. Those were very few and very far between for Claudia. Gently nodding her head, rather than being synical, she just left it at that.

Zach: But enough about me…. You look pretty lonely yourself. [pausing] Wanna talk about it?

Realizing she was allowing him TOO much of an entry way into her own personal dilemmas, Claudia picked up her martini and reverted back to her snarky ways.

"Well...lets see. I came to the bar fully intending to find a man tonight. But it seems all the men here are either [glancing over to him with a patronizing smile] hung up on their current girlfriends or....[looking over at the trucker man who was eyeing her] look like they're from a 1970's slasher flick..."

Wrinkling her nose in disgust as the trucker winked and kissed the air at her, Claudia shuddered before finishing off her third martini. Catching the skeptical look Zach was giving her, Claudia rolled her eyes and scoffed out a soft sigh. Looking down at her empty martini glass, she paused for a few seconds before finally giving him a straight answer.

"I'm worried about my sister, okay? [looking over at him] I'm sure Haleigh told you about Barbas? Well he attacked her and she's really shaken up about it...and I can't do anything for her. So, here I am. With you. Having an Oprah moment."

Lifting up her new martini [thanks to the bartender].

[deadpan] "Cheers."

Claudia conveniently left out the part that Clara was also doubting how trustworthy she was. But that little tid bit was none of Zach's buisness.

Zach followed her gaze to the trainwreck of a trucker slob that was currently blowing Claudia a kiss. Zach shook his head in disgust as he brought his gaze back to Claudia.

"Ugh…. No tact. It should be a CRIME."

On the other hand…. He caught her deft misdirection and didn't fall for it. They both knew she was trying to avoid the real issue. Zach watched her, a gentle skeptic, waiting for a REAL answer. She finally came out with it… concern for her sister. She asked if he'd heard of Barbas.

"Yeah. He's the reason I'm sitting here in this bar with you. No offense."

Claudia: "Well he attacked her and she's really shaken up about it…and I can't do anything for her. So, here I am. With you. Having an Oprah moment. Cheers."

He politely took a drink to her 'toast'… mulling over her predicament. He set his glass down gently, licking his lips.

"Well I don't know much about your sister… maybe she's just overwhelmed… maybe she just needs a breather to figure out which end is up. OR maybe… you're projecting… and actually you're the one who's stressed out, and you're here because you don't know how to act around her…. Because you said you'd protect her, but you feel guilty now because you're not sure that you CAN protect her."

He was taking a few shots in the dark… but he sensed that she felt guilty and uneasy about her sister, and that she was genuinely worried. He also knew she wasn't telling him everything, but she just wasn't comfortable with him knowing…. Whatever the deal, he wouldn't press. He didn't NEED to know.

Melrose Place

[ Dominique and Sharon regarded each other carefully but calmly. There was a truce between the Six and the Sisterhood, but Dominique was not terribly interested in having tea with the Silver Swan OR Rampage. She was in Melrose Place, owned by Spellbinder and she felt the chaos and uncertainty that hung in the night sky around them. ]

[ Her stern expression softened JUST A BIT as Nicolas was gratefull and understood his aunt's scolding him. He offered her a drink, to which she declined.]

No, thank you. I will be taking my leave any moment.

Remember my words, Nicolas. My assisting you is not because of some "maternal" instinct. It is because I am charged with keeping you safe and whole, much like Pandora with her box. I am empowered to do WHATEVER is necessary to safeguard creation from the menace of your father and if that means putting you away in eternal sleep, then I WILL.

[ she fixes her sapphire blue eyes on her nephew.]

Learn how to be STILL. Learn how to LISTEN....and LEARN!

[ she looks at Sharon. the two women nod to each other lightly, before a howling is heard and Isis transforms into a sparkling column of wind and sand before disappearing, leaving a few flowing traces of sand in her wake.]
