Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz hired by Paramount and Skydance Productions
By Jeff Sneider, Justin Kroll
top gun

Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who collaborated on the script for "X-Men: First Class," are in negotiations to pen the sequel to "Top Gun" for Paramount and Skydance Productions.

Jerry Bruchkheimer and David Ellison are on board to produce. Paramount and Skydance declined to comment.

Plot details are nil, as Miller and Stentz have yet to write a script. And no news yet on Tony Scott or Tom Cruise's invovlement, but the addition of Miller and Stentz to the mix shows that Par is serious about moving forward with the project.

The team helped steer the way for "X-Men" franchise's best-received pic, which led to a solid B.O. of more than $350 million worldwide.

Miller and Stentz are repped by WME.

The apocalypse is here. Nobody messes with my favorite movie of all time.

:D

They CANNOT put any original cast in this, save MAYBE Tom Skerrit. Or Michael Ironside would be okay too. Other than that, NO WAY.

it has its place in pop culture history for many reasons. but really, it can stand alone as it is. a modern CLASSIC along side others like Moonstruck etc.

to make a "sequel" 30+ years later just seems ridiculous & Tom Cruise's q-rating has TANKED. aint nobody gonna pay to see him in shit except the most DIE-HARD fans of him/this film. & kids TODAY will likely say/think what you just posted! :haha:

Wow, really? I'm surprised they're not making a remake.

Fun fact, Kelly McGillis' daughter went to my high school. When I was in 9th grade she came to talk to some drama classes. I, of course, asked her how it was like working with Tom Cruise LOL.

But in all seriousness, how can you make a sequel 25 years after the fact? The only thing I can think of is they're probably going to have a couple original characters as flight teachers and have a whole new cast of young actors front the movie.

Didnt KM recently come out as a lesbian? I seem to remember that or maybe I'm confusing her w/ another actress from the same time period.

but still, that's pretty interesting. having her daughter as a class mate & then she herself coming to talk to some of your drama classes

She wasn't in my class, she had gone there a few years before me. But KM stopped by and spoke with us. It was pretty cool.

And yeah, I think she did recently come out as a lesbian.

Also, she has NOT aged well. LOL
