UXN: First, before we start, we would like to thank you for the chance to do this exclusive interview. It's quite a big deal for us that you chose the UXN to announce the new series.
Alonso: Sure, why not? We usually make announcements with Newsarama, The Pulse or at convention panels, but why always go the route of “the professional” site?
UXN: Umm. Thanks?
Alonso: No problem!

A little harsh but i was thinking the same thing.
I hope this series is better than warsong was. A Phoenix that will focus on Phoenix itself and not just it's avatars should be interesting

i only posted this for the sake of being FAIR to all comic readers...but personally, the ARROGANCE that these two writers have to think that they can somehow IMPROVE or "DEEPEN" the story of Phoenix....how many times have we heard this before? hasnt Bendis said this while he's BUTCHERING the Avengers and half of MU as we speak?

and that picture at the END? wtf was THAT? i can only SHUDDER to think what that will entail.

Phoenix SHOULD be recognized for what "she" is, a force of creation and destruction and her history with Jean Grey and Rachel Summers, even "her" catalyzing Madelynne Pryor's first breath is classic...all this OTHER SHIT in recent years is an INSULT to one of Chris Claremont's and Marvel's greatest creations.

Well the problem is all Joe Quesada and his lackey Bendis cares about these days is making money. He doesn't care if he ruins the integrity of the greatest characters of all time, none of them care about how much they really cheapened The Phoenix who was once one of Galactus' greatest rivals! I mean she (meaning the Rachel Summers incarnation of course) survived being eaten by the Big G. When I saw that I thought she was one of the coolest characters in existance despite being X-Men related.

But things...things just went wrong when Quesada took over as Editor-In-Chief. Sure there have been a few bright spots during his reign (Eden's Trail, Annihilation and it's sequel Conquest, Neil Gaiman's Eternals, The new Thor and Nova series') but the rest has been horrible. I mean this whole string of events going from Dissassembled all the way to Civil War really just watered Marvel Earth down into a series of cliches (Chuck Austen's "She Lies With Angels" in Uncanny X-Men or perhaps Spider-Man 2099's relationship with Gwen Stacy in Claremont's Exiles anyone?)

With this "Birthsong" coming now it will only serve to further the cheapness Bendis and others have brought to The Phoenix...which is why I usually stay strictly with Cosmic Marvel (save for Thor...that series kicks ass.) All we can do...unfortunately...is hope that someone better comes along to take up Quesada's place and restores what we have all lost. But with such a tangled mess Quesada will be leaving behind; the next Editor-In-Chief will have His/Her work cut out for him.
