The actress who played Wonder Woman on TV in the 1970s and early 80's says she didn't do anything extraordinary when she discovered a body this week on the Potomac River in Washington.

Lynda Carter tells The Washington Post she was alone in a boat when she saw the body Wednesday. She says she didn't have a cell phone with her, so she yelled to some fishermen and asked them to call police. Carter waited until rescuers arrived and directed them to the body.

District of Columbia police say the body of 47-year-old Helen Johnstone of Washington was found floating on the river Wednesday. The medical examiner's office has not declared an official cause of death.

Carter says she "did what anybody would have done."

Well, that's ironic.

I used to see her every now and then at the mall, which I always thought was pretty cool. I live in the DC/Metropolitan area (well, technically it's Maryland, but it's so close to DC it might as well be), and I have a lot of family that lives in the Potomac area, as does she. I always thought it was pretty interesting to see her out and about, since even though she's a celebrity she never really had an entourage with her or anything like that.

I saw Lynda Carter back in 1996-97. I was living in Grosse Pointe and She's got some property in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan (which is where other celebs like Anita Baker, Lily Tomlin and few others either live of have property) and she was in "the village" of Grosse Pointe which is where a group of exclusive shops and boutiques are, at the time Jacobson's a very well known, long lived, "high end" department store was doing a promotion for Lancome' and Lynda was the celebrity model/pitch woman for it. She was there and that whole Village was on jam street because of it. She's aged very well and she's very warm and personable.

She's tall too, which is one of the reasons why she got the role of WW in the first place.

I think its pretty cool that you've seen her in the Mall. She came into her fame during a time when "entourages" werent so common. She's from the same era as Farrah Fawcett and Suzanne Somers and celebrities back then could move about more freely than they can now. And from what i hear, after her Wonder Woman days, a few movies and a brief but noted singing career, Lynda was very happy being a wife and mother, until her husband, who was a major political figure, got caught up in a major financial scandal. I think she divorced him.

Something i didnt find out till last year: If you search for hispanic/latino actors/actresses...Lynda Carter is among those on the list. apparently she's of latino descent.
