memorable experience: being outside the palace of auburn hills for Madonna's "Drowned World" tour in 2001 when she came to Detroit. those of us w/ VIP tickets were asked to dance around the special DJ booth outside for DJ Marquis who was doing this KICK ASS madonna mega mix preshow & some local radio & tv stations were covering us! :D

^ I never pictured you as one who would go see Justin Timberlake or Christina Aguilera.

Me:

Chris Tomlin [he's a Christian artist who has the best worship songs! Not that anybody here would care; just thought I'd put it out there]
Glee Live Tour [it was freaking amazing! I loved it]
Britney Spears/Nicki Minaj [BS was fantastic as always. NM...not so much.]

John Mellencamp is coming to my city this summer for our annual Bayfest and I'm wanting to go. I haven't told anybody yet. I'm afraid that they don't want to go. :(

An acquaintence had an extra ticket for the "Stripped & Justified" tour & I was something of a fan of Xtina's back then  so i went
My first concert was Harry Connick Jr lol!

I've gone to tons but most memorable are:

Grateful Dead
Aerosmith
The Who
Coldplay
The Eagles
Oasis (multiple times - they are FANTASTIC live)

Some of my favorite live bands that I have been to dozens of times but are probably lesser known people:

Stroke 9 (it sounds ridiculous until you actually go to a show, and then you understand)
Bell X1 - great great songwriters and performers
Jet - they are rock stars on stage, it's loud and awesome
The Frames - best shows ever
Kasabian - fantastic live
The Clarks

Not someone I see regularly but if you have a chance it's fantastic: Sierra Leone Refugee All-Stars and David Cedeno.

Disappointments:

Snow Patrol - They are great live. I used to see them all the time because friends from Ireland had turned me on to them. But once they got famous here, they stopped playing anything from the first two albums, and became a completely different band. It's really really sad.

The Killers - Kind of the same deal. Album 2 was so different and I hated the show.

Others I've seen KRS-One, Jimmy Buffett, Blues Traveler, Dave Matthews, Barenaked Ladies lots, Neville Brothers, Freddy Jones Band, OAR, Tribe Called Quest, Run DMC, Hootie and the Blowfish, Prince, Queen Latifah, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu.

I guess those are the ones that come to mind.

I only seen Flyleaf, Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin (which i loved all three) but i hope to see way more bands live

wow you've all seen so many amazing bands! I'm totally jealous :p

Dont laugh....

Jonas Brothers.

Yeah thats it lmao. I don't like them but I was a babysitter and I was paid to take/watch the kid at the concert.

Metallica
Marylin Manson
Placebo
Korn
Kiss
Sepultura
Ozzy Ozzbourne
Sisters of Mercy

I think thats it!

Turbonegro ( norwegian, no ass rocket on that gig)
Amulet (norwegian)
Mudhoney
Toto
Team Me (norwegian)
Animal Alpha (norwegian)
Riccochets (norwegian)

More bands too, but then i have to really think, so i will add more later.

Bell X1 - great great songwriters and performers

Wow were'd you see Bell X1, their like that band here in Dublin that everyone has a friend of a friend thats in that band, lol.

I haven't been to allot of concerts, not really my thing. The few I have gone to were for friends birthdays when we went on a night out.

The ones that were my choise - I've seen James Blunt, Daniel and Natasha Beddingfield.

Then at a festival I saw Calvin Harris, Pharrell and a few other people, Pharrell was really good.

My first ever concert was Liza Minnelli, LOL. I was like...5 or 6 and my mom LOVES Liza, and she dragged me with her. I don't remember much of the concert, just her sitting on the edge of the stage [this was back when I think she had knee issues?].

Kings of Leon [good live]
Paramore [saw them twice...soooo fantastic live!! Really awesome!]
No Doubt [Gwen Stefani is boss lol. She's such a performer, but the entire band was great too]
Paper Route [great live]
Florence and the Machine [I can't say enough about them. Absolutely breath taking, amazing, stellar, fantastically BRILLIANT live. I've never been to a better concert before in my life. Florence is a goddess and she could sing the phone book and i'd pay to see her LOL. I recommend anyone and everyone to see them live.]

I've seen Bell X1 I'd say at least 10 times, they waffle for me with the Frames for my favorite. They are just so damn good in concert lol. Damien Rice who? lol

Oh how i wish i had seen Maiden & AC/DC you lucky b*****d :D
I forgot to mention a band: Common Rotation!

GREAT band, fun music, insane atmosphere. I saw them at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go while I was in L.A. a few years ago. :D

wow there's alot of concert goers here! this is a nice sampling of musical tastes on the board.

I can't believe that I forgot to mention that I went to the Lillith Fair concert in 1997. THAT was quite an experience. Seeing Paula Cole, SUZANNE VEGA (love her), Jewel, Sarah Mclahlan, India.Arie, Fiona Apple & more.

That was a truly wonderful experience for me.

I can add Big Bang, Florence And The Machine, and Metallica to my list (yay)

Big Bang = Norwegian band
