[ Seeing her friend still obviously in such pain was like a knife in Delilah's heart. But that was why she was here - for Morgan. ]

"Morgan - doing what you've always done - that's all that anyone can ask. That's what Blaze would have wanted. Blaming yourself will not bring her back."

[ As they reached the private elevator, a beautiful dark haired woman appeared. Something was vaguely familiar about her, but Delilah could not place her. She seemed agitated, but Delilah didn't know the reason. She decided to play it cool and expected that Morgan would fill her in if necessary. She turned to the newcomer. ]

"I'm sorry, have we met?"

[ Delilah offered her hand. ]

Illustra- the express elevator

::pOP::

:: a pair of cobalt blue eyes opens in front of the women...::

have a care, Alexis...when YOU were in "dire" need...we came without hesitation.

::blunt, but true no less...as the dark, mysterious Guardian came into full view now...just as tall as Delilah..and only a couple inches short of Morgan...those four women all looked like beautiful amazons...with power to match. they stood together at the express elevator::

Delilah! good to see you... :: taking her other hand and squeezing it gently it was the closest thing to expressing emotion that Alison would be capable of::

your arrival couldnt have come at a better time, might i add.

:: Looking down at her hand, Alexis' eyes lifted back up to Delilah's. ::

"Unfortunately."

:: Keeping her arms folded, she shrugged her off. ::

"It's Alexis....save the formalities."

:: Hearing Alison appear with her infamous "pop" sound, she turned to her, hearing her harsh but true words. Her stomach jumped....she wish they hadn't come to her rescue...she wished they left her for dead... ::

"I wish you didn't.."

:: She whispered softly...her words laced with pain and regret. She wanted so much to be dead right now. To not feel the pain of losing her father, her brother..knowing the truth, being kept in the dark for all these years when she thought she knew everything. Her eyes filled with tears, but she pushed them back. It was obvious that Alexis wasn't over what happened, but she dare not admit it to anyone. ::

[ Unfazed, Delilah discreetly lowered her hand. It wasn't a snub worth getting angry about. She knew Alexis didn't like her, and making an issue out of a handshake wasn't worth the effort. Instead, she switched her focus to Alison, giving her a warm smile. ]

"It's nice to see you again, and looking so well, Alison."

[ Her gaze drifted back to Alexis. She tilted her head to the side slightly, her perceptions heightened. Something had happened to her, something more than her change of appearance, and she was far from over it. If there really was a job to be done - and of the kind that only Morgan and her companions "special abilities" could resolve - then she wondered if Alexis would be an asset or liability in her current state. ]

Illustra- up to the top floor

<< Morgan looked over at Alexis>>

Alexis....youll pardon me if i take a moment to remember my DEAD SISTER and explain the details of her passing to Delilah.

<< motioning to Alexis>> This is Shockwave, a core member of the team...she's been through a rough time...a really rough time....

<< exhaling as she rubs her forehead>> its only been a week for her...just over a month for me.

<< the doors to the express elevator opened...and Morgan motioned for everyone to go inside. once inside...the doors closed and the elevator began the fast streak up to the residential floors of Illustra the top six floors..with Morgan being at the very top>>

like i said...there's never really a moment's rest for us...but with Cameron and Haleigh not here..at least we can TRY to struggle through without the added pressure of THEIR nonsense.

<< her words regarded Haleigh and Cameron dripped with disdain. Thus far, Morgan was UNAWARE of Cameron's true change of heart...although she had felt the fleeting presence of Ororo the night Ororo appeared to Cameron in his terrifying nightmare that set him on a new path. How and IF Morgan could receive him would remain to be seen>>

once we get to my penthouse..i can show you what ive learned via the scrying glass, Alison can flesh out the details with her abilities as a Seer...

<<finally reaching the top...a soft "bong" is heard as the women now walk down the long hall leading to the massive double doors of the penthouse. inside...the women are greeted by the sprawling , multi level loft that is Morgan's residence..it is as splendidly decorated and serene as ever...with a coolness in the air and the hint of vanilla..while chimes played softly. Tinkerbell was on the leather sectional in the sunken in sitting room...grooming herself when the four women arrived.>>

"There's a familiar face."

[ As Delilah entered the penthouse, she gave Tinkerbell a friendly scratch behind the ears, then turned and looked at the women standing in the loft with her. So, she thought, Alexis had lost someone close to her as well. Who would have thought Ms. Quartermaine-Chandler had feelings. It was not a time to ask questions, she knew, so she waited patiently for Morgan to explain what she had found. It seemed that perhaps her old friend needed her as more than a shoulder to cry on. ]

:: Clenching her teeth together as Morgan spoke, she shifted her eyes to the side, as if to look behind her to where Morgan was standing. She didn't mean to sound insensitive, especially regarding Blaze. Alexis of all people understood the pain Morgan was going through....she just didn't have the heart for any of this anymore. As the elevator doors opened, Alexis brushed past Delilah, entering the cabin. Brushing her brunette locks aside, she parted her full lips while allowing her eyes to glance away from the group. She was distant, even though she was only a few inches away from them. ::

:: The elevator trip took only a few moments, and finally, the soft ding snapped Alexis out of her trance. Allowing the others to leave the elevator first, she soon followed as the four powerhouse woman entered Morgan's apartment. The last time she was here, Karen had cooked them all breakfast. What was only a couple of weeks ago seemed like centuries. The group had changed so much since then. Taking a breath in, Alexis followed the others which lead her past Tinkerbell. The cat glanced up at Morgan, Alison, and Delilah, seemingly pleased with their arrival. But as soon as the narrow cat eyes came to Alexis, a loud hiss escaped her mouth as she suddenly jumped up, arching her back. The meta human's chocolate eyes watched the cat...either it just hated Alexis even more then it used to, or it wasn't aware that it WAS Alexis. ::

"Cujo...cat addition."

:: Alexis said sarcastically as she made her way over to Tinkerbell. She softly pressed the tip of her tongue to the rough of her mouth, blowing air outward making a soft noise that usually attracted cats. Gently placing her fingers forward, Tinkerbell sniffed the air. ::

"It's just me.."

:: Gradually getting closer to the Siamese, she eventually was able to pet the top of her head, but of course, only long enough before the cat put on her smug "I’m the best pussy in the world" look, and went back to cleaning herself. Tink recognized her. She always had that look around Alexis. Sitting down next to the cat, she looked to the others, awaiting Morgan to show what was so important in her Scrying Glasses. ::

Illustra- top floor...the briefing

<< Morgan noted Tinkerbell's reaction to the guests. Tink had always liked Delilah...and would coo to Alison's touch. But the "new" Alexis had to coax her a bit before Tink would allow her to pet.>>

<< meanwhile...Morgan motioned for everyone to come across the main walk way into a sectioned off room near the panoramic floor to ceiling windows...the Scrying Glass...a large magick lense that was quite usefull to Morgan. a most handy and powerful talisman indeed>>

Alycia Barnett..and Senator Sharon Kelly....personal friends of mine have contacted myself and Alison. They ....asked for our help but were very VAGUE with the details. it was as if they KNEW they were being trailed...and for anyone who knows of Alycia Barnett's reputation..it would take an act of God or WORSE to scare her.

Based on what SHE DID say...i as able to find THESE images on the Scrying Glass:

<< gesturing slowy infront of the magick lense...chimes play a haunting melody as the glass shimmers and sparkles....a rushing sound is heard as images begin to appear>>

<< images began to swirl into view....it appeared to be images from the past...a dark hall...sounds of broken machinery...flickering blue lights...it had a resemblance to the haunting medical office that served as a front for the entrance to Mystech's citadle>>

<< but soon...a heavy foot fall could be heard...as an EXTREMELY LARGE, broad shouldered MALE creature lumbered into view>>

<< Morgan continued to gesture slowly...as her magicks revealed this monster...his face enshrouded in shadow... as he walked...slowly, menacingly he was a HULKING figure...and in his grasp...a body..a DECAPITATED body he drug along>>

<< images of a decimated laboratory..a shattered containment unit...broken bodies....HORRIBLY broken bodies...appeared on the scrying glass....and soon..it began to broadcast views of MANY victims that had fallen to this creature>>
<< the magick lens' image shifted again..a consortium of doctors...and high ranking military officials meeting in a darkened room. monitors flashing vital stats and dna charts along with physical scans. talks of a "Super Soldier...designed to withstand ANY possible scenario , as durable as a cockroach (an ironic comparison...given the miniscual size of the bug>>

<< in a wooded forest , outside of a cabin, images of a young man...badly beaten...his mother being RAPED by military garbed men before she was brutally murdered, her body tossed into a lake!! the anguished cries, the screams of the woman and the barbaric brutality of these men...it sickened Morgan..as she gritted her teeth. the boy is beaten into unconsciousness and taken to a hidden facility...>>

HE is the human test subject that became the super soldier....but they OBVIOUSLY couldnt compensate for the rage in his heart...and his unforgiving spirit...THEY DID THIS TO HIM! could Alycia and Sharon KNOW about this!?

[ Delilah couldn't believe what she was hearing. Well, she could believe it, but the circumstances under which she was hearing it were not what she would have expected. So the rumors were true. It had gotten out.

With the others still reeling from the shocking images before them, Delilah took a deep breath, closed her eyes for a brief moment, then began. ]

The 'Super Soldier Program'...a bit of an urban legend in law enforcement circles. Except this one happens to be real. I've heard things...rumors from my FBI contacts, more concrete information from those at the CIA and Pentagon. It is a joint venture between the government's Special Weapons Division (those lovely civil servants who train dolphins to plant landmines on submarines) and the CIA. Initially envisioned as covert guerilla operatives, there are some within the organization that would like to see entire armies of juiced up soldiers.

Only very senior officials are privy to information about the project - all very hush hush, but through my mother and father's contacts I'd learned some things. Obviously this is not something they recruit for at your local American Legion. The early test subjects self-destructed within hours after receiving treatment - their bodies couldn't handle the stress. The first subject able to sustain the process was code-named TH-14, and last I officially heard the army was training him, monitoring his development. But after that there were rumors...

Nothing concrete. But rumors that TH-14 had escaped from the project site. And that he was not being a very good boy...

And something else -

[ She glanced at Morgan quickly to gauge her reaction to what she was going to say next. ]

Given what you've said about Alycia Barnett...there's been word that the Agency is not well too pleased at the moment with Ms. High Powered Lawyer. There's rumblings that she's stepped on one too many toes she shouldn't have, if you know what I mean. She's pissing off the wrong people, and my guess it - this is why.

[ She motioned at the scrying glass. ]

You have a virtual who's who of top military brass and Special Weapons scientists there. Dr. Stephen Healy and his underling Dr. Felicia Frances - two of the most twisted human beings known to man - are top level Spec Weaps. They're the ones who come up with projects like this.

[ Points. ]

Michael Crossain - four star general - only deals in covert activities. Reports directly to the President and only the President. Patrick MacDougal - head of CIA special projects. You won't find his name mentioned anywhere in official CIA documentation, and for a reason. He's got his hands in more dirty pots than you can shake a stick at - no conscience whatsoever. Which makes him excellent at his job. The list goes on and on.

Haleigh Davidoff -- The Long Island Sound

The tv blared with the CNN newscast, as several people in business suits stood around the office, staring up at it. Even the Director was ensnared, though all the while he watched he scowled. The view cut to a group of people loading boxes and cargo into a big transport plane, it was jet black with a large white trident on the tail. Inside either prong of the trident where the letters M and T. The loaders all wore black shirts with the same white trident symbol in the back. A voiceover narrated enthusiatically, as a candid photograph of Haleigh Davidoff was shown on the screen.

Narrator: "The talk of the CITY this week is the Charity Banquet being held by Rebecca Meridian to collect funds for her new non-profit poverty relief organization, the Meridian Trident, LLC. Meridian, who is one of the two partner CEOs of Liquid Crystal Images, Inc., the worldwide acclaimed photography company that has contracts with BIG names in the entertainment and travel industry, reportedly pulled a lot of strings to get several celebrity appearances. The photography business mogul spent more than 10 million dollars kick starting the Meridian Trident, and has spent over half a million to orchestrate tonight's event. She has already begun to set up shop in Africa, and is excited to begin the program, which she plans to kick off tomorrow morning. She released a statement to the press on Monday, saying that she hoped the press coverage of tonights banquet would help get the fledging company's name into good circulation. She also said that attendance to the banquet wasnt REQUIRED to donate, that donations could be made by phone or web at 1-800-TRIDENT or www.trident.org."

The Director, still frowning, turned the TV down by remote. A man in his twenties offered the first opinion. "Maybe she really has changed. 10 million... thats a lot of money to spend on something that's just meant to be a front to make us THINK she's reformed." The Director shook his head, scratching his bald spot and disagreeing. "No.... people change Jeff, MONSTERS dont. 10 million to her is like ten dollars to me.... its a small sum for her. I want you and Wallace to go to that event, and keep a VERY close watch on her... I think theres more to this than meets the eye."

"Yes sir... but its invitation only."

"She sent me a complimentary invite for two CIA agents... probably thought we wouldnt use it. Its Evening gown and Tuxedo dress... and simply surveillance."

Meanwhile.....

The couple lay out on the deck, entangled in each other and too spent to move. Zach softly stroked Haleigh's face, tucking her hair back from her face and kissing her forehead, as she lay next to him, playing gently with his chest hair. Neither felt the need to fill the comfortable silence with words, they just let the soft sloshing of the water and the rock of the boat lull them. Haleigh was pleased with herself, she'd finally taken her walls down... and let him in... for it was rare to find someone like him... someone who just wanted to make her happy. She'd had it once before... and it had taken her several years to recover from losing him. Now in Zach she'd found not only someone who understood her life work, but also seemed to understand everything else about her as well. They were two of a kind... there was hardly anything they couldnt do together. He was rugged and outdoorsy, but could also be refined and classy when the occaision called for it. He worked with her in intelligence and she told him about everything, including her involvement [or lack thereof] with the Six. What was more... around him... she could just be herself, unfiltered and unrestrained.

The phone rang, invading Haleigh's bliss, pervading her thoughts. Zach got up and pulled on his shorts, going to prepare the boat to go back to port. He knew their break was over, it didnt bother him. Both of them loved their work. It was just as well. Even Haleigh knew today wouldn't TRULY be a day off. The banquet was tonight, and if it wasn't the event staff calling to ask her stupid questions, it was CI staff calling to ask her tactical ones. Par for the course, she knew. She had been able to string this company together in a matter of DAYS... which was just a testament of her clout. The phone rang again. Haleigh began to redress as she answered it.

"Davidoff. This better be REALLY good."
>>Director... I was going to save it for later.... but now there are TWO things you will want to know.
"Go ahead."
>>The CIA just dispatched two agents to tonights banquet to qoute/unquote 'keep a very close watch' on you.
"That's fine... I have nothing to worry about. Other than security details, CI won't have a role in the event. What's the second?"
>>Its the SIX... they're meeting again. Alison's gone to everyone, recruiting them back to Illustra. She told Cameron and Alexis that the Laywer Barnett and Senator Kelly were asking for help... the kind only the Six can offer. Something about a creature... deadly... indestructable...
"Thats enough.... I don't want to hear anymore. I just want to keep watch over them... if they get into trouble, if they get into harm's way, call me. Otherwise.... I don't want to interest myself with their escapades.... Only their wellbeing."
>>Understood. That's all I have for now.
"Thank you."

The conversation ended with a click, and Haleigh began to wrap up their picnic.

"Home, Zach."

Z:"Right Away."

:: Looking to the Scrying glass, the images being played didn't phase Alexis. Everything was the same with this group. You kill one monster, have a 15 minute break, and there's another one ready to rain on your parade. Watching as the monster walk with the decapitated body in it's hands, she sighed, sitting back against the sofa. As Delilah began to speak, her eyes shifted upwards toward her....the situation was nothing but government covorups... ::

"I feel like i'm in an episode of "The X Files".

:: Her sarcasim had yet to dim since she became a member of The Six. Although less hostile then before, Alexis' temper had calmed a bit as she got to know everyone over the course of a year. But still, she had her moments. Moreso now then every. ::

:: Crossing her arms along her chest, the meta human just sat there. What was the use of reacting to the situation? It sounded like the same shit they went through in the past. That and she had no idea about government nonsense and yada yada yada yada yada like Delilah seemed to. So she sat there, looking up at the other woman, waiting for their move. ::

"So who gets to be Mulder and who gets to be Scully?"

[ Alexis didn't have the monopoly on sarcasm in the world. But regardless of her flippant attitude, the situation was a serious one. She looked to Morgan for direction. ]

Morgan: "So, how do you want to work this?"

::Guardian watched the images, surverying them in her own unique way as she reached out across time to "see" any additional information...she was briefly interrupted by the empty and needless comment of Alexis::

Alexis, if you have a problem, maybe you shouldnt join us.

::returning to her own task at hand...she spoke up shortly after morningstar::

Before we do ANYTHING, there's something you should know...this "super soldier"...has lost ALL humanity...only the most rudimentary human instincts remain. it is beneath reasoning or compassion. but what is worse.....this super soldier has a connection to....Haleigh Davidoff

I think we better get to Alycia and Sharon at the designated meeting place soon. As Delilah has said, and i can now CLEARLY see, Alycia is in serious trouble, as is Sharon. We have just stumbled upon a major ring of corruption that includes some of the highest ranking medical and military officials in our government...they know about Haleigh, and they know about US...or at least what little information they have gained AFTER Ororo and Morgan helped to turn back time in NYC following the destruction of the citadle.

I left word with Cameron, but he hasnt shown....we cannot afford to wait on him any longer.

::Alison was clearly ready to go::

:: Rolling her eyes, Alexis stood, making her way to the woman. ::

"You need all the fire power you can get."

:: Softly spoken, she wasn't saying it in a "matter-of-factish" type of way...more so agreeing that as much as she hated to go out on another quest with the ever popular Six, she needed to be there. She was an asset to the team. ::

"Are we waiting for Cameron? Or Adrian for that matter..."

:: A valid question...where the hell were they anyway. Alison had spoken to them, and it was unlikely for atleast Cameron not to show up when needed. As for Adrian, she didn't expect him to show up at all, let alone have anything else to do with the six. He was too absorbed in his own little world of "look at me! look at me!". ::

<< Spellbinder watched Alexis and Alison>>

<< for someone who had just been through her own personal hell, Morgan could excuse Alexis' quips throughout this briefing but alison was right...IF she had that much of a problem...she should stay behind. Morgan opted not to say anything given Alexis' insistence that she come along with the group as it were>>

I dont know WHY Cameron isnt here. Adrian is less than usless at this point. <<Looking at Delilah>> Oh you'd love him << eye roll>> upon his arrival he tried to entrance Alexis, seduce Cameron's sister Erika, molest Cameron AND he tried to throw Alison off balance. BUT when push came to shove, he was not as effective as he tried to make us believe.

<< after locking in the coordinates of their destination on her Scrying Glass, Morgan turned to the others>>

allright, everyone get into costume.....if there's nothing else, we're outta here. Alison, if you want to leave a point of reference for Cameron [and possibly Adrian] do it now. I'm not waiting for either of them. and if this creep IS connected in some way to Haleigh, we best learn all we can from Sharon and Alycia before going on. if SHE finds out about this...she's just treacherous enough to try to INTERFERE on the SUPER SOLDIER'S behalf!

<< she spoke of haleigh with little regard or confidence...her voice dripping with contempt>>

:: A look of disgust appeared on Alexis face as Morgan went through the various things Adrian has done thus far. ::

"He's a snake."

:: Alexis adding her two-sense to Morgan's little overview of who he was. But onto more important issues. Alexis placed her hand on her thigh, as her body began to glow a soft white. As she slowly ran her hand up her hip, past her stomach, and around her breasts, a swirl of white light and white orbs twirled around the brunette's body, until finally, they disapated, leaving Alexis in her newly fashioned "battle" outfit. A beautifully cut black leather jumpsuit, more state of the art looking then Morgan and Alison's, yet just as sexy. Her bone straight ebony locks were now pull back into a ponytail, the tips of her razored brunette locks brushing against the middle of her back. The new look really suited Alexis.::

"Ready when you are."

[ Delilah raised an eyebrow at the mention of Adrian. Sounded like she missed an interesting sequence of events.

She wondered what part Haleigh could be playing in all this, but she was sure they would find out soon enough. The important thing was, as Morgan had said, to find out as much as possible from Sharon and Alycia before they tried to face TH-14.

Morgan had instructed an assistant to retrieve something for Delilah to wear, so she left the room to change, quickly re-emerging in her form fitting black body suit. ]

"Ready to roll."
