When you think of "Scream Queens" you think of: Janet Leigh, or her daughter Jamie Lee Curtis.

Women who were vulnerable but were able to rise up to the critical task of protecting themselves and their friends (the ones who survived) from a monster, killer or a mortal danger.

Jamie Lee Curtis set a standard that changed the game for anyone that came AFTER her.

Now VH1 has a show which seeks to find the "next scream queen" who will get a plum role as the "breakout star" of SAW VI (isnt it kind of arrogant, considering that Saw V hasnt even come out on the big screen YET? LOL)

The show debuted last night and already there are several young women who are showing themselves to be strong contenders.

Has anyone seen it yet? I am personally rooting for Tanedra Howard, the sole black woman on the cast. She's supposed to be the woman with the least experience among these hopefulls and yet She came out swinging with what seems like good raw talent, a strong sense of how to take direction and to be believable.

there's actually a few on there who seem like they might be talented. Its interesting to me that they are offering up a role in Saw VI as the prize when Saw V JUST came out in theatres today. That seems telling on how arrogant/money hungry the studio execs are to milk a franchise dry. I dont even consider the SAW films to be horror...its more like "torture porn"

I must confess, I do watch this and I do enjoy it. Although I am 97% anti-reality television, Scream Queens goes as far as to make me wish I was part of the competition. Seldom are reality shows a good idea, but this one has got potentional and a unique vibe. I'm not trying to praise it; just make my opinion known that it is different from most others.

In the first episode, Tanedra was my favorite. I was all "wow! She's had so little time in the acting world, yet she's kicking all these other girls' asses with her skills!". I loved that. Yet, as time continued I felt like she sort of got left behind in my mind and I started to favor Lindsay. If either one wins, I'll be happy. They're both great. ...I'm sort of afraid of Jessica, though.

But, if I were on a show like this? And the prize was being is Saw VI? I'd be disapointed. I honestly have a strong disliking towards those films.

well I'm happy! my girl Tanedra Howard WON the competition and will be cast in a "break out role" on Saw VI, which already has a release date of October 23, 2009!

I'm happy for her as she REALLY did show the most talent (despite being the "rookie" with the least amount of "experience" among the 10 women).

Tanedra Howard
Age: 28
Occupation: Waitress
Hometown: Inglewood, CA
Facebook: Tanedra

Out of all the contestants in Scream Queens, Tanedra has the least experience. Growing up in Inglewood, CA, she always dreamed of being an actress, but as a child, was never able to afford an acting class. Instead, she obsessively watched movies and television shows in an effort to teach herself how to act. Highly competitive and motivated, Tanedra finally decided to pursue her dream and began auditioning just two years ago. She currently works as a Hooters waitress.
