Veronica Mars gone

Not a Veronica Mars person, but didja see this? (don't know if it's any consolation, but..)

As for Veronica Mars, Thomas tells me: "I think the best odds for seeing the continuation of the Veronica Mars story is in comic-book form. I had a meeting with DC Comics last week. They want to do the series. I want to do the series. It's just a matter of making a deal and figuring out when I have the time to write it. And perhaps a feature screenplay will follow."

Yeah, from what I've read, Rob Thomas says he wants it to be a proper "Season 4", like Buffy's "Season 8". They'd use actual storylines he already had in the works. Could be cool.

Yeah I'm so happy Rob is talking about making a comic, I actually think that could be a great way to keep the story going. Can't wait to see what Veronica and Mac etc would look like as comic characters :)

i wonder with this, Buffy season 8 and even the new Star Trek: original series comic are more tv showings going to try to move to comic for after being canceled. If theres enough fan cry for the series could it be revived like DVD sales did for Family Guy?

E! Online’s TV blogger Kristin posts a comment from “J in New York,” who says he works at DC Comics, about the rumored upcoming Veronica Mars comic:

"J in New York: I work at DC Comics, and you’ve got some big love here. There’s a bunch of us who take your word for gospel, and though it’s already sorta out there, we just wanted to send some info your way on the Veronica Mars comic books. They’ll be published by our Wildstorm imprint, which is based in San Diego, and R.T. is looking to be firmly on board. We’re even hoping for a late fall release of the first issue. Hopefully, more to come…Keep up the good work!"

So it seems like this might actually happen. Wow. I am extremely excited and even more surprised. Cannot wait to see what it'd look like etc....

Thought this comic would've been on the stands already, the way the rumors were flying. Here's an update, sort of.

Question: Any chance that while his TV pencil is down, Rob Thomas has picked up his comic-book pencil? Please tell me Veronica Mars Issue 1 has been written. I need to feel like there is some faintly silverish, if translucent, lining to this dark, Snappleless cloud that is the WGA strike. — Dan

Ausiello: I forwarded your Q to Rob and here's his faintly silverish-lined response: "I had a second meeting with DC comics. I heard that the [WGA] didn't want [TV writers penning TV-based] comic books during the strike as it would promote a network property. We're investigating whether there are similar hurdles for a defunct TV series like Veronica Mars. Naturally, I won't be writing it if the Guild doesn't want me to, but we're hoping that's not the case."
