I've been reading Marvel Nextwave (in TPB) & i have to say...the writing in this series was definite full of dry, witty humour lol.

Moreover, it really gave Monica Rambeau (aka Captain Marvel, Photon, Pulsar) a chance to shine outside her Avengers affiliation. It gave Tabitha Smith (aka Boomer/BoomBoom/Meltdown of the New Mutants/Xforce) a more diva like persona & definitely upped her power & there was a character I think Vil & Lexi both would like, Elise Bloodstone aka "that english bitch!" LOL who was like a cross between Buffy & Black Widow.

Monica Rambeau needs to come back to the front in Marvel. Marvel Divas was a good one shot for her but she needs to come back front & center- maybe not w/ the avengers but perhaps working w/ Black Panther, Storm or even X-factor Investigations, which has a vibe similar to "Next Wave".

Who else beside Monica is sorely underused in Marvel (or DC)?

That team-up sounds awesome. i would like to see together:

Black Panther
Storm
Photon
The Falcon
Luke Cage
Brother Voodoo

on a team. Just for an arc. Would be cool to see.

& I always thought "Marvel Divas" would be an excellent ongoing series that could rotate the cast in the spotlight. Perhaps one or two could be mainstays like Photon & Firestar & then each storyline could feature different guests. the ones I feel would BEST work in the Divas series right off: Storm, Wasp, Dazzler, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Invisible Woman, M, Magik & then there's scores of other women who could appear in the title as well.

Just like "Dazzler" was a boon for marvel when it came to attracting female readers, "Divas" could have been so much more like that too & w/ Monica @ the front, she wouldve found a whole new audience.

'Marvel Divas' would be a great book just because it would keep the spotlight on the many female characters in Marvel. I feel sometimes like Marvel MADE them just to UNMAKE them. It would be nice to explore them further.

And Black Bolt's wife (Medusa is it?) would be great to be added to that group you have there.

I really like White Tiger (both the female one from Daredevil and the Male one) and the entire cast of the Crew which including Josiah "Josiah X" Bradley (son of Isaiah Bradley the black Captain America) but that one holding out for false hope.

I like Nextwave as a book a lot just cause i remember at the time there were (and still are) so few light hearted comedies in mainstream offerings. I think Warren Ellis knocked that one out of the park and that was just using characters that marvel thought it was ok for him to ruin.

AH! now I realize why Warren Ellis' work felt so familiar to me as i read Next Wave. He worked on EXCALIBUR (the first series) which was an amazing spin off of the X-family  Excalibur had the same tinge of wit & humour to it that Next Wave does & it's REALLY well timed.

I especially loved their battle w/ Fin Fang Foom :haha:- the narration about how his mom was a "slutty lizard who did "the bad thing" w/ a 'suggestively shaped' pile of radioactive material & became pregnant w/him" & then they show this giant dragon terrorizing the town, eating people while wearing purple underpants & the caption reads "nextwave now has to save the town from a giant lizard monster. in purple underpants."

& how when Tabby Smith was attacking him, he grabbed her & said "Fin Fang Foom put you in his pants!" & she started hollering & screaming in terror LOL! :haha:

when we first talked about nextwave i told you that it was a great book only took 5-6 years for me to be proven right!

Warren Ellis is an amazing writer, if you like the humor of nextwave you can see it alot more in one of his early works Transmetropolitan (which is one of the books that made his fame)

yes...yes  you were RIGHT. but remember, this was @ a time that i was VERY put off by what was going on w/ marvel & I was pretty much boycotting it. not to mention at first glance, the artwork of nextwave was a bit odd to me. monica rambeau wasnt drawn w/ a very nice look overall even though she was written well.

i appreciate your input on comics, if for no other reason i know you keep current & know what you're talking about & its always nice to have a guy to talk comics with
