So I picked up the first issue of UXF today, and I actually really enjoyed it. I thought it introduced the characters nicely. Anyone reading?

Girl, check your library for UXF: Angels and Demons its the first TPB of the current x force line up and its intense. its also a prologue to the epic "2nd coming" storyline that recently wrapped in the x-books. and again, if you can find X-men "2nd Coming" in graphic novel format at your library, i recommend it. X-force represents well in that story too...Domino, X-23, Archangel & Psylocke are my favs.

UXF is pretty good, though I'm disappointed that Domino and X-23 are no longer on the roster. I really don't care for Deadpool.

Their mission to neutralize a reincarnated Apocolypse ended with a bang...literally.

no one should be surprised by that :p

im not sure what I think about Fantomex. He's been around since Morrison's run and he's been fleshed out alot over the years as far as his story etc...but im still not really sold on him.

I think the team will lose its edge without X-23. That girl rocks. She's LITERALLY better than Wolverine.

This is the first time I've seen Fantomex, and I think it's an intriguing idea. I'm interested to see more of what he's like.

I read that issue i was honestly not expecting that end, i didn't think the writers had the guts to do it

Fantomex runs the line between being cool and moronic, alot of his showings make him look interesting but his powers and abilities are really vague. All that's really known is that he's a next generation Sentinel made in Weapons Plus' World environment and has an external nerve system.

exactly.

i can agree with that. i liked his presentation in 2nd coming and im sure the fact that it was BRIEF as well helped lol.

I was kind of confused by the whole giant brain looking flying saucer thing he had back in new xmen and the way jean seemed to be taken with him kind of laughable to me LOL.

Yeah apparently that thing is his brain/most of his nervous system which he just vomited one day and it started growing into a separate entity. He has a back up nervous system in his own body but its weaker and when he uses it he can only see in black and white as well as other problems.

Freakiest superpower in a while short of Maggot and Husk

evidently morrion seemed to think "mutant" had to be freaky/extreme physical manifestation.
:tomato:

Fantomex has more than one heart as well right or is it just brains?

i dont know what sounded more bizarre, fantomex telling his backstory to jean & xavier or xorn talking about a star in his head (before it was retconned to be he was magneto the whole time WTF?)

From wikipedia

Fantomex has an external nervous system referred to as E.V.A. He has mentioned that E.V.A. emerged from his mouth during his time in The World and developed into a techno-organic flying saucer-like vessel. The relationship between E.V.A and Fantomex is symbiotic, so if E.V.A. experiences pain when she is not within Fantomex, he will feel it as well. When E.V.A. is separated from his body, Fantomex feels no pain and seems able to ignore most injuries. Along with this symbiotic relationship, Fantomex is linked to E.V.A. via telepathy. He can see through E.V.A.'s point of view and can take control of her movement. However, this requires concentration on the part of Fantomex. Moreover, E.V.A, as a bio-mechanical being, can reshape her body into a variety of forms, fly "herself," and generate energy discharges to be used as weapons.

Fantomex contains multiple brains for parallel and independent thinking as well as nano-active blood; the nanites in his brain prohibit him from believing in anything greater than himself, such as gods or any supernatural beings. He also maintains an internal back-up nervous system which can be engaged if E.V.A. is damaged. However, this system is less complex than E.V.A. and does not allow Fantomex to see colors. He can expertly read the body language of others and can create extremely realistic illusions (he calls this ability "misdirection"). His mask incorporates telepathy-blocking ceramics. This also allows him to fool some of the most powerful telepaths, including Professor X and Jean Grey, who also cannot tell whether he is lying or not. Fantomex can also enter a trance state and perform crucial tasks such as performing surgery on himself. In this state, he can also recover faster while placed in water. Fantomex is also capable of registering frequencies beyond the hearing range of normal humans.

Fantomex is a superb marksman and has been seen using special "mutant-killing" bullets. They were designed by Sir James Braddock (the father of Psylocke and the current Captain Britain) and are unique because the bullets themselves appear to have distorted faces.

He possesses enhanced strength, speed, agility, dexterity, reflexes and reactions, coordination, balance, endurance, and healing abilities. He is a very skilled hand-to-hand combatant and a master of stealth techniques. His title in his birthplace, The World, was "stealth-fighter."

He seems more machine then man which would make sense being a Sentinel/Cyborg grow for combat.

I like Xron, it was weird and freaky but he was a nice character before the Magneto reveal.

See I love Deathstroke *cough* I mean Deadpool ;)

Well they were originally the same character lol

Well if thats the case (being Sentinel/Cyborg grown for combat) why him instead of Omega Sentinel? I really liked Karima! She could be such a bad ass if handled correctly.

honestly i have no idea, its like everyone forgets hes alive every few years till they need to make another story about he being under control of her programming and being beaten into a coma

you wouldnt have that problem with Omega Sentinel! i'm just saying.

Still, i loved the idea that Uncanny X-force are KILLERS and that they're "black ops" and not recognized as apart of the X-family (even though they very much are). I just dont want to see the team become a bin for c-listers...like the current X-factor roster (with the exception of M whom I feel should be on Utopia).

The core team should be: Archangel, Psylocke, X-23, Domino & Wolverine regardless. They can change the other three characters periodically.

wow, ok my mind was elsewhere
I was talking about Omega Sentinel, thats about 80-90% of her stories, Something happens either someone puts her under their control or her programing takes over and then the X-men fight her/put her into a coma until they fix it and her her for a while till the cycle repeats. Its almost as bad as the Jean Grey death thing, whenever she shows up she has to die and be reborn about 5 times.

well boo on you! :tomato:

unfortunately you might be on to something. She was posessed (clever as it was) by the now DIGITAL (rather than psychic) entity Malice in "Messiah Complex". She was inexplicably overpowered by Frenzy of the Acolytes (Seriously...Omega Sentinel shouldve been able to beat her ass) and then after 2nd Coming she wigged out due to lingering effects of Bastion and the Master Mold. I hate that.

Its become a really bad habit for a lot of writers, they're just repeating the same storyline unique to each character, Daredevil, Spider-man and X-men arguably have it worst but now its just getting annoying across the board. Characters need to start breaking out of their established roles into new things.
