Alright guys... can't believe theres no "Twilight" thread here yet... And give the recent release of the movie I think its time to start one :D

So what did everyone think? I've heard mixed reviews and opinions on it... even from the die-hard obsessed fans. I thought that the book was better (though I wasn't overly impressed by the books), but of course thats usually the case when you go from a book to screen adaption... Based on Stephanie Myer's description of Edward in the book I admit I had my doubts that Robert Pattinson could pull it off but he did end up surprising me. I though he did a good job as Edward.... though I do have to quote a review that I read about him here:

"Pattinson spends most of the movie with a look on his face that’s a cross between Zoolander’s “Blue Steel” and a person trying to stave off a diarrheal attack."

(side note... anyone else think its creepy that a 100 year old man is hanging around high schoolers? lol)

I liked Stewart as Bella.... she is pretty close to the 'mental image' that I had of her while I was reading the books. I was disappointed in Jacob Black... I thought Taylor Lautner was a horrible choice and I don't know what became of the decision but I'm happy they are thinking about replacing him for the sequal.

So lets talk budget.... Twilight had a budget of $37 million.... lets put that in perspective...

Production Budgets:
Twilight - 37 million
30 Days of Night - 32 million
Pans Labyrinth - 19 million
Let the Right One In - I think it was around 5 million

Summit Entertainment Productions;
American Pie
Vanilla Sky
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
The Brothers Grimm
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
A bunch of bad tween movies like Step Up 2 Da Streets

Oh and to anybody who hasn't read the book, let me save you the trouble:
TWILIGHT:
I don't really mind Arizona but I'm moving to somewhere I know I'm gonna hate anyways.

I hate this new place. I'm gonna whine about Arizona being better even though it's a fucking desert.

People are trying to be friendly and are trying to make me feel welcome. I hate people.

That guy's hot. I don't think he likes me.

He's not here! The guy I know jack shit about and who doesn't even acknowledge my presence is gone!!!!!!!!!!!

He talked to me.

I'm in love!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was walking down a dark street at night in a town that I don't know and I almost got raped. I'm stupid.

He saved me and bought me dinner!!!!!

I love him.

Why do I love him?

Cause he's hot!!!!!

He says I smell good!!!!!! OH MY GOD he says I smell good!!!!

Oh wait, that's because he wants to eat me. He's so perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!

He sparkles like a sequin. He's perfect!!!!

OMG because I smell good he loves me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're in love!

He's hot.

Half his family hates me.

My truck is noisy.

I'm gonna die! Never mind, I'm ok!

He's hot.

Now go spend your money on something useful.

The books are not very well written, but they're easy to read and enjoyable. But they aren't the master works of fiction everyone makes them out to be.

The film was horribly made. I was praying the budget was only $10 million or something to account for that, but $37? PLEASE tell me that includes advertising. What was with all that "pan to trees" crap? The DP should be shot and thankfully is being replaced on the sequel by someone who knows what the hell they are doing. The lighting was horrible and it was apparent that they got a lot of the shots as they were losing the light and the DP did not have a clue how to light night for day. You could tell that a lot of the light amounts didn't match the time of day it was supposed to be.

The displays of vampire powers looked horrible. The reveal of the vampire's skin (supposed to look like diamonds) was so poorly done you could hardly tell that was the effect they were going for.

The casting was awful. Whose idea was it to dye Peter Facinelli's hair that color? And what hair department head allowed it to happen? He looks awful. The vamps other than Robert Pattinson are not nearly good looking enough to match the books. Yes, the actors are good looking BUT they are too normal-looking when the Cullens are supposed to be supermodel, unnaturally beautiful. Too much emphasis I think was put in making them look pale instead of making them look good pale.

Jacob is way too pretty. Nuff said. He should totally contrast to Edward.

The acting says to me "1st gig" not "experienced professional". It's people acting like themselves instead of playing a part.

I HATED the Victoria/James/Laurent killing spree bits. I don't remember them from the books, but anyway these felt stupid and jarring, and took you completely out of the story. I could be wrong but I remember reading the book and it being such a huge shock when the Others found the Cullens in the clearing. In the movie, that was set up from the beginning instead of being love story love story love story BAM!

The second half of the movie was definitely better than the first, and it wasn't as if I wasn't entertained by the movie. BUT it could have been a lot better and like the book is not all it is made out to be. This is one of those bad movies you watch whenever it's on cable.

lol i must be one of the only ones on here who actually got caught up in 'All the Rage' because I am in love with both the books and the movie. Even though my mom and I both agree that its a shame that Stephenie Meyer completely changed the whole Vampire Persona. I do think the book is alot better than the movie, more detailed and more romantic. I also agree with Vilandra on the actors, while reading the book I pictured a few of them completely different (even though i watched the movie before i'd began to read the books) the only ones who fit the description in my mind was both Bella and Alice really. Edward kinda... but I pictured Emmett to be bigger, buffer and a heck of a lot cuter lol and as for Rosalie, well the actress who plays her is beautiful sure but i just pictured Rosalie to be more... i dont know how else to describe her. As for Jasper well i guess i didn't really picture him much since he's not like a huge part of the first movie or book.

Anyways even with all of that I still love the books actually they are some of my favorites on my book shelf right now, expecially Breaking Dawn. I Can not wait to see New Moon even though i support Team Edward...

I can't believe I never saw this thread....wow lol.

Well i'm a fan of the books and the movie. :) [I can't wait for New Moon!] However, I do agree that the Twilight movie could have been done a lot better. With the way the books were written, the production quality of the movie sucked. But because i'm a fangirl [lol] I still couldn't help but love it.

Casting wise, I think they did a perfect job with Alice, Jacob [minus the hidious wig lol], Esme, Laurent, James, and Bella's dad. I pictured Emmett to be a lot cuter, but his body build definitely fits the way Emmett was discribed in the books as being the strongest. Jasper to me is just ugly...they REALLY could of done a better job casting him. Carlisle was a good as well, however I agree with Vil. The hairdye job was HORRIBLE. With Rosalie, I think they should have cast a natural blonde. I'm a fan of Nikki Reed and like how she PLAYS Rosalie, but she just doesn't look the way I pictured Rosalie to look.

And then that just leaves Bella and Edward. Bella looks how I pictured her to look. Pretty but sorta common. However the way Kristen Stewert PLAYS Bella in definitely not the way I would have expected. Lexi and I were discussing this the other night. Bella was portrayed as being independent, yet insecure. Someone who doesn't like the spotlight and has this 'sweet innocent' quality about her. But Kristen plays her very hard and standoffish.

As for Edward, when I was reading the books I pictured him as drop dead gorgeous. When I saw Robert Pattinson I definitely didn't see him as Edward. But now I can't picture anyone other than Robert to play Edward. :) And I think Robert plays Edward very well too. Exactly the way I pictured him to be.

Overall, i'm just a fangirl of the books and movie. lol. I can't wait until New Moon [even though it was my least favorite book] and i'm hoping that the production quality, makeup, hair, and wardrobe department are a hell of a lot better than the first one lol.

you know i forgot about Esme, Carlisle, Laurent, James, and Charlie as well as Jacob they were all good choices to cast. Although I gotta say i think the dye job on Carlisle isn't too bad actually i think he's kinda sexy that way *shrugs* but I think Esme is completely how I pictured her almost to the T. Jacob though I dunno i kinda pictured him just a bit different for some reason. I pictured Eric different too i mean way different. Not at all like the actor who portrays him.

I cant wait to see the trailer for new moon, I have stupid dial-up so unfortunately i haven't been able to yet. Hopefully sometime next week, I have caught tiny parts of it on like E News lol (only reason i watch it, is for Twilight news how sad is that) and i've seen a few screencaps from the trailer. I agree though New moon definately my least favorite book...

Yeah, it really wasn't my favorite book up until the end, then I really started to like it once they were in Italy and the Volteri were introduced. But regardless, the movie looks great. So i'm really looking forward to it. :)

I have not read the books but I found the film dull and boring and too slow to be honest. Once i've done with reading Harry Potter I might give the books ago as i've heard some good things about the books :)

I tried reading the books. Not fun.
I got to admit, the movie compaired to the books well it just doesn't give it much justice... Hopefully New Moon will be made better... Speaking of I finally saw the Trailer yesterday when I went to the Fiance's house since he has highspeed and man it made me want it to be November even more already! Why do all great things have to come in november.... great movies and thanksgiving filled with FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD WONDERFUL FOOD!!!!!(takin from the great movie Ice Age 2 if you didn't know)

Anyways back to my point i saw the New Moon trailer and while it really didn't show much of course what was shown looks good. My question is why change the Birthday party? The cake is supposed to be pink but they make it green? Also I thought Bella was supposed to be upset about the party and in the trailer she gets all pretty and dressed up? I dunno maybe theres reasons behind it guess we'll see when the movie comes out but i gotta say unlike what i've heard about the whole Wolf thing I dont think it looked too bad.....

Who cares about ANYTHING else about New Moon besides JACOB BLACK...

YUM!

Besides I am totally team Jacob, so I am waiting for Eclipse to come out because that's where it gets really interesting between those three! (Bella, Edward, Jacob)

When Twilight hit my school, it was like a huge pandemic. Every girl, freshmen through seniors, holding a copy of Twilight (the movie edition, they all became fans after they heard of the movie), they all got Team Edward T-shirts. It was pretty terrible. I'm a die-hard Anti-Twilight fan, I can't stand the idea of sparkly vampires. Angel would drop Edward in two seconds flat. I got the "And then Buffy staked Edward. The End" shirt and I'm going to wear it to the midnight premier of New Moon. See how many people try and kill me.

lol good luck wearing the t-shirt haha

As much as I like Angel it would still be an interesting fight with the whole mind reading thing and speed thing its like the Spike VS Edward thread on BB.....
I love the Twilight books, okay so im not saying they are the best books ever but i do enjoy them. I liked the movie too but i have to say Robert Pattinson was not how i pictured Edward when i was reading the book. Im hoping the New Moon movie will be good, i really cannot wait to go and see it!
