So, who here has rhythm? who likes to cut a rug and trip the light fantastic?

I love to dance, free style, hustle, pop lock, vogue (yes i still strike a pose to be cute ;) )

I've been dancing ever since i could WALK lol. My parents played songs on their turntable and alot of them had beats. I'd be out in the middle of the living room doing my own little moves much to the encouragement of my parents and other relatives. as i got older and began to hang out with my friends and playmates, alot of my dancing was influenced by them. I wanted to keep up so i learned the dances they were doing. MADONNA was also a big influence. I would watch her videos on MTV over and over again..learning to copy her moves. I love dancing to funky music from the 70's ; the ground breaking sounds of the 80's, the hard core dancing/techno/house of the 90's and on to the present.

Going to weddings, clubs or parties...I'm ALWAYS ready to dance either with my girls, by myself or with a hot guy (or two LOL) whether its a hustle, a ballroom step, fast partner dance..whatever! and what i've noticed is that ALOT of people dont expect a WHITE GIRL to be able to "get down" when it comes to dancing..ESPECIALLY when it comes to hustling. :haha: But i'll be right out there with my drink in one hand...fingers snapping in the other..and doing the damn thing.

great topic, dancing is always hot
Get into the groove!

I think for me dancing started when I was in my mother's womb. When she was pregnant with me, she would hit the club with my Dad and they danced for hours! Growing up I LOVED to dance (come on, I'm a Libra! We're music phenes) day or night. My favorite past time was creating my own moves to artists like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Ace of Base, Wham, Pet Shop Boys, Cynthia, etc.

Everyday after school adjourned I'd go home watch television for a few hours. Rush to do my homework, and then break out the walkman and dance outside. My best friend Angelo always wanted to play sports or go biking but I was busy dancing. LOL!

Even at weddings, both my cousin Samantha and I would be the first ones on the dance floor. Our energy was infectious to other family and friends. We'd be the last ones to leave the dance floor. Same thing happened at school dances, proms, etc. I'd drag my girls out and we'd dance away.

I feel dance moves the soul, and our inner child is unleashed. As for songs I've got a long list:

"Dancing Queen" - Abba
"Western Girls" - Pet Shop boys
"Beat it" - Michael Jackson
"Holiday" - Madonna
"Like a virgin" - Madonna
"Like a prayer" - Madonna
"Vogue" - Madonna

"Music" - Madonna
"La isita bonita" - Madonna (every song of hers)
"Thriller" - Michael Jackson
"Don't turn around" - Ace of base
"Freedom 94" - George Michael
"I will Survive" - Gloria Gaynor
"Jumpin, Jumpin" - Destiny's child
"Survivor" - DC
"Bug a boo" - DC
"We are family" - Sister Sledge
"Gonna make you sweat" - C & C Music factory
"Staying alive" - BG's
"Respect" - Aretha Franklin

I also love to dance. At my wedding reception, I aleready had a my replacements picked in case my wife got tired. She did and I danced the evening away with the maid of honor!!! (LOL)
My favorite dance songs are:
"Got To Give It Up"--Marvin Gaye
"Air Force Ones"--Nelly
"Hung Up" --Madonna
"Wait (The Whisper Song)"--Yin Yang Twins
"It Takes Two"--Rob Base and Easy Rock
"You Gots To Chill"--EpMD
"So Watcha Sayin'"--EpMD
"Blow My Thing"--Zapp and Roger
"Humpty Dance"--Digital Underground
"Stand Up In It"--not sure, but it is an ols bluesy song that is incredible raunchy. I love it!!!
Any Barry White pretty much.
And the list goes on and on, across genre and eras. I DJ'ed at a radio station and for parties for 3 years so I have a wide selection of music that I like.

I'm a pretty good dancer, but lack the coordination. I feel the rythem really well for some weird reason, which is how come i listen to music for my whole pre-race routine. But my real favourite is moshing. Happiness is a fun mosh pit with other metal-heads!

UH, well, this is embarrassing, but if you ask me to dance, you either get really really suggestive booty-dancing or incredibly upright, Irish dancing with lots of footwork. Lol, my granddad made me take the class as a kid and it's not really something you forget

So I love hip-hop or salsa music, and...uh....Murphy's Reel is probably my favorite.

Both my best friends here at A-school are black and have taken it upon themselves to turn me into a good dancer. I shudder to think about my irish badonkadonk shaking it's way across the dance floor, but oh well. <shrugs>

I think girls are much better dancers than men are, on average. Maybe it's the carefree spirit or the physical structure. Whatever it is, by the time we're like, 13 you girls are dancing like you're extras in a Janet Jackson video while most of us guys can't manage more than the "boxer" dance. ;)

Dancing..love it...starting into some poppin'...will dance to pretty much anything and everything. Mainly a b-boy though, so obviously breakdancing is at the top of the list for me. Raised on country, funk/soul, rock, and hip-hop, my tastes obviously vary. Favorite songs..hmm..gonna have to edit this later and add in a list..and Foxfire, points to you on putting Rockell on that list! I havn't found anyone else who even knows who she is, lol.

I heart dancing SO much! I always go to school dances and since I dropped out I've been BEGGING my Jessica to take me, but she's not the type to dance her ass off. I am! *laughs* I'm quite a shy person at school...calm, cold, keeping to myself...as soon as I hear music, I loose complete control! At the Halloween dance last year I went as Madonna in a costume I made from scratch. Everyone loved it. [I went home early though do to the fact that I fainted *sighs*] ANYWAY, I like dancing to anything. I even dance to slow songs. When I don't have a date at a school dance or just a teenage hangout I grab a random girl or guy or just sway to the music alone. My favorite dancing songs are probably...

Current songs on the Radio...
Buttons/Pussycat Dolls
Everytime we Touch/Cascada
My Humps/Black Eyes Peas
Dare/Gorillaz

Slow
Time of my Life/[don't know the artist...from Dirty Dancing]
Kiss Me/Sixpence None the Richer
Nothing Compare 2 U/Sinead O'connor
Don't Speak/No Doubt

90s
ANYTHING

80s
ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING

and Foxfire, points to you on putting Rockell on that list! I havn't found anyone else who even knows who she is, lol.

Are you serious? lol, damn. I love her music. :D Glad to see we're fans of the same artist.

My favorite genre's are dance, pop, and hip - hop. I remember at my Junior prom I stole my friend's date who opened to be black and we cut up a rug. My friend was jealous because I could "get down" and she couldn't. LOL! I think we did raise some eyebrows with how "close" we danced and the song wasn't exactly, slow. :vamp: :D

I love dancing. Lately i've started line-dancing seeing as how the clubs around here usually have a western room for folks to line dance in. It's kinda fun, but not what i'm used to. I love any song that has a decent beat where I can just get down. I don't have any specific style...I just dance. lol. Whatever feels good at the moment, I do it. Regardless if I look like an idiot, why the hell should I care? LOL.

I can't even list the songs that I like to dance to. There are so many, and now that i'm put on the spot, I can't think of the titles. LOL. But like I said, i'll dance to anything with a good beat; whether it's rap, hip hop, pop, rock, or country. ;)

i FINALLY found people down in Nashville TN that know about "hustling" and/or "stepping"! LOL

its amazing. hustling and stepping are dances that seem to be confinded to certain large cities in the NORTH of the country such as Detroit and New York but until recently, i didnt think i'd find any place down here tha played music for hustlers and steppers.

and why is it that some black folks are ALWAYS so surprised when they see a WHITE WOMAN that can hustle and step? lol
