I often said there wasn't a show on TV that made me want to watch television...well The Walking Dead changed that.

I have read the comics before & while normally I am opposed to comic-to-movie(or tv) adaptations...THIS has prooved to be an exception for me!

Does anyone else here watch this show?? Let's discuss!

I like the Walking Dead and enjoy the show but sometimes that show is so bleak I tend to take long breaks in the middle of the season. I'm up to date on last season but I'm never sure with how long I'll keep after it weekly

The show IS very dark & has very few bright spots. The few times there IS a bright spot...something or someone comes along & destroys it utterly.

My fav characters on the show are Carol & Michonne. It took me a while to find characters I could latch on to.

I was saddened by the loss of Dale in the 2nd season &

Hershel in the current season was ESPECIALLY horrifying

my concern is what are they going to do when there's only 1 or 2 ppl from this group left?? they're already down to ONE original female from the original group now (Carol) so what happens when only 1 or 2 ppl are left?

Oh this is an issue from the original comic too, the answer is NOT ONE IS SAFE FROM DEATH IN THIS SERIES!

So yeah, good luck dealing with that

I love this show. My favorite character is by far Daryl...I love him. I will stop watching if they ever kill him off lol. And I really love Michonne and Carol too.

What I like about this show is that no one is safe....but I DO think that the writers would be digging their own graves if they ever kill Daryl off. There are MASSIVE Daryl fans out there that will revolt LOL.

And there are more than just 3 of the originals left. You have Rick, Carl, Carol, Glenn, and Daryl. :)

I think Daryl & Michonne have the largest fan bases. Michonne is very popular in the comic too. Daryl has grown such much as a character! Much like Carol. He is very intregal & necessary to the group & is obviously apart of the group's core now. I prefer watching him over Rick anyday.

Carl is my least fave & I can't stand that boy.

I don't think I could continue w/ the show if Michonne is lost. My heart was already hurt over Hershel :(

True, those four are the remaining originals from the atlanta group & w/in that, Carol is the last female. even though "no one is safe" & in a situation like what they're facing that makes sense, we the audience have latched on to the atlanta group first & foremost. they're the anchors. if all of them ( w/ the EXCEPTION of carl, who i hate :D) are lost...that would be jarring.

of the newer members, Michonne is obviously one I care about. Maggie has really come along way too. I'm still not really interested in Beth.

I liked Tyrese & Sasha, but I think I might have missed an episode or two somewhere along the way b/c I dont remember what happened to Sasha?

Okay...you guys have won me over...I'm going to attempt to start watching this show and see how I like it lol.

Literally every single one of my friends loves it and I guess it's time to jump on the train or at least see where it's going haha.

the strongest theme about the walking dead isn't the zombies. they are almost BACKGROUND at times. the strongest theme is the dynamic of the human relationships. how they have been forced to change. some bloom, some die, others mutate. all the things that "MATTERED" before the outbreak are meaningless now & you see that all through the show in a variety of ways.

the scarey theme is that in a situation like what's happening on TWD, ppl (like "the governor" ) who are sociopaths and were ONLY stopped from doing more by "the law" when society was still structured & "civilized" are now free to run unchecked. So in many storylines of the show, the BIGGER threat the group faces is from other humans & survivors rather than the zombies themselves.

it's very well written & it features real actors & actresses.

if youve never watched it before, i highly recommend starting from the beginning rather than jumping in now.

^^ Agreed. Go at it from the beginning. It's great to see how the characters change throughout the seasons.

I'm going to enjoy seeing your reaction as you watch lol.

I am absolutely obsessed with "The Walking Dead". When my husband came back from his first deployment, he kept saying "You need to watch this show with me!" and I kept going "No, zombies are gross; I don't want to see it." But it's soooooo amazing and so well-written. Yes, parts of it can be very slow, but I don't mind- I don't watch for non-stop walker action. :)

And Jill, I'm with you... The deaths of the characters you mentioned definitely hit me hard. I literally mourned for both Dale and
Hershel
. I'm still in mourning, kinda... I miss him so much. :(
