COLLEGE DAYS — After spending the summer enjoying her passionate relationship with Damon, and making sure that Jeremy is adjusting after his return from the dead, Elena is thrilled to move into the dorm at nearby Whitmore College with her new roommate, Caroline. Still believing that Bonnie has been traveling all summer and will soon join them, Elena and Caroline are surprised when a student named Megan (guest star Hayley Kiyoko) shows up and announces that she will be sharing their dorm room. Katherine makes an unexpected appearance at the Salvatore house and pleads with Damon to help her now that she is human and vulnerable to her enemies. Matt and Rebekah return to Mystic Falls after spending a wild summer in Europe, where they met a mysterious beauty named Nadia (guest star Olga Fonda). Elena can’t shake the feeling that something is wrong with Stefan, and Silas makes a terrifying appearance at the “End of Summer” party in the town square. I am REALLY apprehensive about the gang going to college. This is when most shows die. And I love Kat Graham to death, but I was SO OVER Bonnie in that episode. I am DONE with Silas and I hate this new doppleganger thing.

I do like the "mysteries" about Caroline & Elena's roommate and Elena's dad though.

See I am glad to see these people be out of high school because what bothered me about this show was that they NEVER seemed to be at school. At least not last season anyway. I mean nearly all of the gang is Vampires of Hybrids and whatever.. I always felt like with The Originals, wouldn't they be like "Why are we even entertaining anything from these BABIES?!" lol and it seemed inauthentic that the Originals would even care about this group of kids..

But you're right..shows tend to jump the shark once high school is over because it fucks with the formula everyone knows..

I hate what they did to Bonnie.. I just hate that the story for every witch on these kinds of shows are "They help..then they become TOO powerful, and then they have to be taken down, then they have to like "rehabilitate" etc. I actually really liked Bonnie at the end of the last season because I felt like she finally had all of this power but actually had CONTROL over it this time. Her last few episodes in the past season she was REALLY strong, and then it's like "She's DEAD?!" I mean hasn't Jeremy seen enough dead girlfriends to last a lifetime lol?

I am glad Jeremy is back though, I was really sad when I thought we lost him.

I agree that the new roommate is cool, and I just WISH they could have just let Silas be killed at the end of last season and moved on to the next big bad. I hate when a villain carries over because it usually means that the middle to end of the season will suck.

With the Originals having their own show, I am interested to see what's next for the gang.

Silas had so much potential and they fucked him up. Also telepathy and mind control is lazy IMO. They could have made him read minds through blood magic - drinking people's blood or something.

As for the rest I'm not sure where it is going but I think it will be interesting. Personally, as they're Vamps I would have skipped college and gone with focusing on them as adults.
