The Originals 1.01 "Always and Forever" - Aired 10/3/13 (CW-US)

KLAUS MIKAELSON, THE ORIGINAL VAMPIRE/WEREWOLF HYBRID, RETURNS TO NEW ORLEANS IN THIS SPIN-OFF OF “THE VAMPIRE DIARIES” — Klaus Mikaelson, the original vampire-werewolf hybrid, has returned to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans – the city his family helped build 300 years ago. Determined to help his brother, Elijah leaves their sister Rebekah behind and follows Klaus. Elijah learns that the beautiful and rebellious werewolf Hayley – Klaus’ onetime flame – has fallen into the hands of a powerful witch named Sophie Deveraux. When Sophie reveals some life-changing news, Elijah realizes that the Original family may have been given a second chance at humanity and redemption. Klaus, however, is more intrigued by his recent unexpected reunion with his former protege, Marcel, a charismatic but diabolical vampire who now has total control over the supernatural inhabitants of New Orleans. Klaus vows to reclaim what was once his – the power, the city and his family. The series also stars Leah Pipes as Cami and Danielle Campbell as Davina. Chris Grismer directed the episode written by executive producer Julie Plec and co-executive producer Michael Narducci.

This one has potential. It was cool to see the other side of the "The Originals" TVD episode from last season. But WHAT THE HELL KLAUS? Meh, he's died before, he'll be back.

Phoebe Tonkin looked amazing on the show and I really am interested in her storyline. Not that keen on the new characters, other than Marcel.

The Originals is a Vampire Diaries spin-off?

just finished the episode, thought it was ok but I'm feeling the general burn out on all things vampire now.

Also its strange watching this show and going "I was just there a few weeks ago"

A FLASHBACK TO THE 1800s — When Rebekah arrives in New Orleans at her brother Elijah’s insistence, she meets Hayley, who gives her some unexpected news. Concerned that her brother Klaus is up to no good, Rebekah seeks help from a reluctant Sophie. At her wits’ end, Hayley takes matters into her own hands, but things quickly take a dangerous turn. Determined to uncover Marcel’s secret weapon, Klaus stays one step ahead and executes his plan. Meanwhile, after a run-in with Marcel, Rebekah is reminded of all the anger and disappointment Klaus has caused her throughout the years. Finally, Marcel enlists Davina’s help in his own dangerous plan. Leah Pipes also stars. Brad Turner directed the episode written by Diane Ademu-John and Declan de Barra.

Yay! Rebekah!

I'm sort of in and out on this show so far. Parts really captivate me but Its not really must watch. If it continues I'll watch but if it ends/get canceled I'm not really gonna be too sad.

Oh my God... MARCEL is hot as hell... I'd let him turn me in a SECOND!

I don't know how I feel about this yet.. I LOVE Klaus.. and I kind of like Elijah... Rebekah I've been indifferent towards because I feel like her personality changes like every episode.

I also wasn't a big Haley fan to begin with, but I am hoping she grows on me. It's just sucky because we know that Klaus should just be with Caroline already, and yet here is this bitch lol.

My feeling on this now I've watched an episode...

A spinoff was needed because The Originals had created their own lore/story that needed to be told and because Klaus (mostly) is such a good character and played superbly by the actor. I like Rebekah too for that matter, Elijah is boring and would have been a far better villain for the series, flip the script...

Having said that, with the exception of Marcel, the rest of the cast I could take them or leave them. Hayley for example, she was a great love interest for Tyler and rival to Caroline - the fact she slept with Klaus added an air of teenage drama. But can I believe that she's pregnant with his kid and theres a possibility of then having a baby together? She has been misscast IMO, would have been far better if it was Caroline.

Also, Marcel as the big bad? Not feeling it, he's too much Stefan and remember Klaus was the big bad for two series in TVD, Marcel does instill the same fear.

Oh and we know what can kill an Original, Indestructible White Oak Stake. It's been done.

But I love me some Vamps so I like it. 2 seasons in this show, tops.

Having made this cynical post and now wiser as I have watched the first hald of the series, yeah I'm feeling this.

Elijah is awesome, Rebekah is sexy (very sexy, yummy yum yum sexy) and Marcel's character is beginning to make more sense and I like the fact that he isn't the big bad. Where is this story going is the big question.

I'm a bit more open minded to it now than I was before and I've enjoyed it far more than the current series of Vamp Diaries.

I love, love, love "The Originals". I am liking it way more than this current season of TVD, actually, which is saying a lot... I am just pissed that once again they can't decide what to do with Rebekah. I liked her when we saw her trying to be a friend to Hayley, but now that she's all of a sudden decided she wants to take over New Orleans simply because it would spite Klaus, I find myself rolling my eyes at her all the time.
But WOW Elijah and Hayley are HOT!!! Their chemistry is on fire, y'all... Love them!! And I love the bromance between Klaus and Marcel. But I seriously hope they find a way to bring Davina back, 'cause she was a very interesting character and to kill her off is wasting her, IMO.
