The Great Bush Debate

how the hell is it the mayor's fault? He had a city whose general populace was majority poor people ...many of whom had NO WAY to get out on their own. He DID his part...he put the word out..he urged even BEGGED the citizens to get out if they could. The PRESIDENT was advised by the NHC that this hurricane was going to be a category five..and officials URGED him to take action to facilitate an evacuation of those people. Bush's response? "LETS WAIT IT OUT!"

and now...1000's may be dead and dying still.

The MAYOR stayed there...with those who couldnt flee...and has been suffering with his people. He has been BEGGING for help...sending out a "desperate sos" for DAYS ....and it took 4 days for ANYTHING to be done!? thats BULLSHIT.

When those hurricanes happened in FLORIDA...Bush's ass was down there THE MOMENT it was "all clear" and "relief aid" was damn near INSTANTANEOUS in activation. we ALL know why that is....its because his BROTHER was there. and those cities were effected were obviously filled with people of a higher socio economic background.

if Bush could QUICKLY obtain approval to spend 8 BILLION dollars on this whack ass war in iraq....how is it that he couldnt have authoized a quick and efficient evacuation of those people in NEW ORLEANS!? he had 5 DAYS PRIOR to the touch down of the hurricane to do so!

Spellbinder your argument about Florida is wrong for two reason I lived in Florida 18 of my 30 years and I am a native and proud Floridan and my relatives went through all those Hurricanes last year and this year here is where you are wrong.

1. FLORIDA HAS A HIGH BLACK POPULATION, JUST LIKE LOUSIANNA, MISSISSIPPI, AND ALABAMA (I ALSO LOVED IN BAMA FOR ABOUT YEARS AS WELL).

2. FLORIDA did NOT have the fool damage and lawlesness that New Orleans had.

3. FLORIDA sits at not BELOW sea level, FLORIDA had been through disasters before and was prepared where LOUSIANNA AND NEW ORLEANS WASN'T.

4. The mayor said himself, something you ignored in my last post that he had a Plan B and when thing went wrong he had NO PLAN B. The Mayor failed Spellbinder,
and even though New Orleans does have resources to help the evacuees before
the hurricane hit, they had school buses they could have used and other buses as well. I have been to new orleans twice, they could have swung evacuating folks
and not telling to set in a sports stadium to ride it out.

5. State and Local governmetns have money and resources they should and didn't use in this situation to completey blame BUSH for this is in error, looking at in factually the Mayor and Governor have more blame than the President. They are righ there, the Governor had no one ready and the Mayor had no one ready.

6. FLORIDA was easier to access FLORIDA WAS SAFER, it had wind damage
and property damage not the massive Flooding that New Orleans had.

Think Clearly Spellbinder, I know you are a smart woman and you hate BUSH's policies, but think about it systematcially.

Well.. All I have to say is Bush can go down there and tour the disaster when his ass should be getting them MONEY and shit.. He should have had people carrying food and water behind him.. I mean if I saw him and he had no food or water and shit.. I would have killed him.. That would have been CRAZY! I was suprised he got out unharmed.

I don't know how anyone can justify the hundreds of millions of dollars that was stripped from Louisiana over the past 5 years or so.
When experts had been predicting just this such disaster..
The plans were there for securing the levee to absorb the impact force of a level 5 hurricane, but noooo...

The sickest part is that the $$$ wasn't sent to Florida, to help, or used to help relieve 9/11, it was money used for political pork...
This is where the federal gov't is to blame...

I don't wanna hear the bullsh*t excuse, that this happens all of the time.
If action had been taken several years ago to secure the levee, as planned,
Louisiana would not be in the state that it's in now..

Evacuation would have been so much easier, without the water.
People would not be dying on the streets with no means of escape.
There would be no vermin, feces, and raw sewage streaming through the streets & in the future people would not become sick from the poisons that mold creates.
This would be a far more manageable situation.
