Anyone who have any interest in this movie?

I saw the preview and what i saw looked good.

I have read all three books of His Dark Materials so im excited to see how the movie will be. I think the story makes for a good film. Watch the trailer and speak your opinion.

I'm not familiar with the source material, but on first seeing this trailer a couple of weekends back, I wasn't impressed. Too many shots look like they're trying to inspire wonder, and the variety of situations she's in seem unlikely to make for a solid streamlined story "okay, so pirates, a polar bear, cossacks, evil priests, witches...renegade scientist...just what the hell is this supposed-to-be?".

Love Daniel Craig but this one I'll only be watching if my girlfriend drags me to it, or someone I know rents/buys the DVD. *shrugs*

I'm kind of looking forward to this film. I remember reading the the books a while ago I'm just wondering how they going to adapt the story to the big screen. Its kind of long and winding not really that suitable for silver screen. I'm worried that if they try it will lead to some cheap adventure ripoff that just carries the "His Dark Material's" name without any of the fun of the story. Also are they going to keep with the anti-religion tone of the book?

Apparently the film is somewhat less anti-religious than the books. There's still a strong anti-Catholic (and to a lesser extent anti-Christian) bias, but I read that it's been toned down from original books probabaly to make the film less controversial and more marketable.

I went and saw it today, and I really enjoyed it. You have to really really look for anti-religious stuff - I don't think kids would even pick up on it really.

:)
