Episode 1.01 "Pilot" - Airing 9/15/11 (CW-US)

Cassie Blake is a normal, happy teenager, leading an everyday life with her devoted single mom, Amelia. But when her mother dies in what Cassie thinks is a tragic, accidental fire, her world is turned upside down. Cassie moves in with her warm and loving grandmother Jane in the beautiful small town of Chance Harbor, Washington - where the residents seem to know more about her than she knows about herself.

Wow - I really loved it. I guess I didn't expect it to be so put together - things definitely mesh a lot better, characters have better chemistry, performances seem better, seeing the entire episode rather than just preview clips.

All the characters seemed really developed - you "knew" what they were about very quickly, which I think is rare these days.

I can't really say anything bad about it. My only question is why Cassie's mom didn't use her powers to save herself? Perhaps not all of them can control multiple elements as Charlie can.

What did everyone else think?

:)

I have it saved on my DVR. After work I immediately put on The Vampire Diaries, and now i'm beat lol. But i'm excited to see it even more now that you've said it's really good. :)

I'll be pleasantly surprised if any of the shows for this season were really going to be good

Someone I'm acquainted with down here called me to tell me to turn to this & I must say, I was intrigued. First time in a LONG time I've been able to say that about any tv show. I too was wondering why the mother didnt use her magick to save herself! :(

I'm glad to see witches getting a spotlight again on TV just as they have been in Marvel the last couple of years.

I just finished watching it and I really enjoyed it. It's a keeper. :)

As for Ringer, I agree. It was better than I thought it would be...and the twist end with Sioban still being alive was a shocker!

I really need to catch up on this, but from what I understand, the older generation were stripped of their powers when that big accident happened. The only reason Diana's dad was able to use magic was, because of the crystal he had gotten from Faye's mother.

I have really been enjoying this show and plus i like that it has not been about the usual CW angsty teen drama nonsense became honestly who needs that.

I read the books years ago (same with the Vampire Diaries that L J Smith wrote) and I like what there doing with this show. I'm glad they haven't kept all the original characters from the book series, there would have just been too much to keep up with. I like that the love triangle between Cassie/Adam/Diana is being well played out. I just wish they had stayed with Nick, rather than bringing in Jake, although Jake is how Nick is in the books (if that makes sence).
