I'm a little surprised this never occurred to me sooner. I love to read and I'm sure there are more than a few people here who love to also. I thought this would be a nice place to discuss books we read and find recommendations from one another.

To start this thread i think its best to begin the thread with a book we all or at least most of us have read. What have you all thought of Harry Potter and the Deadly Hollows?

Just a note because I haven't read this one yet, that either you should start seperate discussions for each book or mark spoilers in the thread ;) It would be awesome if we all read a book together though :)

I've been reading a lot lately, so I'm game if we actually were to start a book club. Everyone could take turns suggesting something, perhaps?

I've never read any of the Harry Potter novels. But, I had several friends who enjoyed them very much so. Although, I was curious how the last book ended. So, because I hate surprises I perused a few websites who did provide an in depth look.

As for a Book Club, I think its a fabulous idea. So, Mat, what have you been reading? I'm a huge fan of suspense and horror novels. Got any suggestions?

I don't usually read suspense and horror. I'm a big fantasy fan myself. Been reading George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" and just finished Morgan Llewellyn's "Finn Mac Cool," since I'm such an Irish history nut. :)

Both have been great - the kindof books you don't want to put down.

Someone just gave me the Kite Runner. But I've had difficulty really getting into it. :/

Honestly, the next time one of you starts reading a book you think is going to be good, let me know and maybe I'll order it online. Always looking for another way to expand my horizons. ;)

I don't have anything horror but if you like fantasy i would recommend Terry Goodkinds's Sword of Truth series and Terry Books' Magic Kingdom for Sale/Sold. Anybody know any good Sci-fi books?

Ever read Ender's Game? That's top notch. Starship Troopers is also good (and very different from the movie, although that was a good time, too). :)

I heard The Sword of Truth was good. But is it mature or something they could make into a Disney movie without cutting anything out?

Mature theres rape in every book (seriously) and light S&M if you really look at certain things. Its a good book but it isn't for children.

I don't actually look for mature things like that, but they're usually indicative of something beyond the standard Tolkein fantasy fare.

And Ender's Game is top notch. Orson Scott Card wrote it and I've never heard a sci-fi fan say they didn't like it.

Has anyone read anything by David Weber before. I brought one of his books In Fury Born and i want to know if his others stuffs just as good before i start looking for it.

BTW anyone else read novelizations based on comic characters. What do you think of the use of characters (X-men, Spidy, and JLA)vs. their original comic book use?

Also i think its time we make a new discussion thread and several of us have expressed a desire to read a book as a group so suggestions people. ;)

I just picked up this book and just want to be sure we're still reading as a group before i start everyone have their copies? :)
