A fourth movie was announced by The Weinstein Company in July 2008. On update, Courteney Cox & David Arquette have confirmed they are returning. Jamie Kennedy has stated he will be in the film, despite his character being killed off in the second film. Wes Craven said that he wouldn't mind directing this film, but it would take a very good script to get him back. Craven also went on to say, "It would take it being really as good a script as the first one was, and the pay day reflects what I’ve done for that company." Not only has Williamson the writer of the first two films, and story of the third, been hired to pen a draft for the fourth film, but also a new trilogy. Recently, Craven stated that it isn't very probable that Neve Campbell will return. Therefore, a younger cast is likely to be set In recent interviews Campbell has been stating herself she is currently in negotiations to star in Scream 4'.

I cant believe they are making another one of these. Not that I dont enjoy them but arent they running out of idea's yet. I thought the 3rd one ended it nicely, but then again i cant remember all of it.

of tthem all, 3 was my LEAST favorite but i DID enjoy the many connections and references back to the first one in that film.

I'm actually EXCITED about this because Wes Craven & Kevin Williamson (hopefull and likely) will be involved. They were what gave the magic touch to the first 2 films. AND my girl "Gale Weathers" (my favorite character in the film franchise) is returning.

Scream was like a MAJOR revival for horror films in 1996. I remember it QUITE well. I was in college and i just remember SO MANY people being excited about it. It even got a RE-release shortly before Scream 2 and that RARELY happens for a horror film. usually 20 + years have to pass before ea re release. Scream really invigerated the genre BUT along with that came many copy cats and soon, the feeling was gone and by the time 3 came along, while it was a solid film, it wasnt what the first two were.

I feel like as long as they have the original crew and cast (Courteney, David and Neve, along with Jamie ) the possibilities for a new film are looking good.

I really liked the first and second Scream movies...but the 3rd one was just cheesy as hell. So even though I liked the Scream movies, making a forth one seems kinda lame. Especially in this day and age where the 'masked killer stalking teenager' horror genre has pretty much fizzled out.

I am so excited. I really enjoy this trilogy and now there will be a 4th! Whoo Hoo!

I did enjoy the third, there were some pretty intense moments, like when Sydney finds herself on the set of "Stab 3" and it is an exact replica of the house in Scream 1 even the cop car outside. That was intense and scary, and I really enjoy Parker Posey so it was nice to see her. Plus the first scene with Cotton Weary and his wife (Kelly Rutherford) was intense.

My favorite is Scream 2, I thought it was just SO well written and that the characters were truly defined. ALL of the murders scenes just creep you out especially the one in the movie theatre with Jada Pinkett. That was brillaint because I remember seeing it AT the theatre and everyone was DEFINITELY on edge after that!

The first Scream is one of my favourite films ever. The script was amazing and it is just so damn clever.

I think 2 was a satisfactory sequel and I do really like it. Luckily it had Randy for some of it which meant some of the good dialogue could really shine through.

I watched 3 again recently, for the first time since I was a kid, and I was so disappointed.

I'd love to say I was excited but I'm just not. I don't want to the Scream films to turn into a joke, I'm worried this is what could happen with this movie.

I'd love to proved wrong though :)

an interesting bit of trivia, both Charisma Carpenter & Shannen Doherty were STRONG contenders for the (what was basically a cameo) role that Kelly Rutherford (fresh off of Melrose Place) got.

i thought the FASHION was at its best in Scream 2. Gale's hairstyle was HOT and really bought "streaks" to the forefront for alot of women (including myselef). I also thought Laurie Metcalf (Jackie from Roseanne) did a hell of a job as Vicki Loomis, Billy's mother and the vengefull killer.

I look forward to the possibilities of Scream 4 as long as Wes Craven & Kevin Williamson set the foundation of the film and again with the core cast there. I'd rather see THIS than another pisspoor REMAKE anyday.

There were definintely parts in Scream 3 that I liked. I really liked the beginning with Cotton and Kelly Rutherford's character. And I also liked the hosue set scene as well, Brandon. But overall, I thought the whole premise was just lame. *shrug*

But I've always LOVED Scream 1 and 2. Those are such great cult classics. :) I'm excited to see what they do for Scream 4, but with the way current horror movies have been, I just have a bad feeling it'll be lame lol.

The second scream movie was my favourite and 3 was watchable but i am interested to see what they are going to do with this one as there is such a big gap between the last movie and this one.

It just feels like treading water watching the newer material.
The first one had the element of suprise,we didn't know what to expect.
Now we do,its not as much fun.

Cougar Town and Friends star Courteney Cox is looking forward to the next installment in the Scream franchise.

Cox, 45, will reprise her role as bitchy, ruthless reporter Gale Weathers in Scream 4, which is being written by Kevin Williamson (who wrote the first two films).

"There are really only a few of us that survived," Cox told The Associated Press.

Also returning for the slasher sequel is Neve Campbell, who plays heroine Sidney Prescott, and Cox's husband David Arquette, who plays bumbling Deputy Dwight "Dewey" Riley.

"They're probably back living in Woodsboro," Cox said, referring to the town where the first film took place. "I think that he's probably still deputy, and I've had a lot of kids. I don't know. I'm probably miserable, and then I'm sure a lot of murdering will happen."

Cox and Arquette, 38, met on the set of the first Scream film in 1996.

Oh, Neve Cambell is returning as Syd?

Well that intrigues a little more than before. The last thing I read (a while a go) was that it was to be largely about a whole new cast. But if it's still about Sydney I'd be more inclined to give it a go...don't know where they'll take the story though. Interesting.
