Sci Fi's Flash Gordon

SCI FI'S FLASH GORDON

Sci Fi has provided The Continuum with a first image from its upcoming Flash Gordon series.

The image shows Eric Johnson as Flash Gordon and Gina Holden as Dale Arden.

Johnson is probably best known to comics fans from his two seasons as Whitney on Smallville.

John Ralston plays Ming in the series, which premieres on August 10.

Here's how the network describes the series:

"Sci Fi's contemporized version of Flash Gordon follows the all-new adventures of Flash and his companions, Dale Arden and Dr. Hans Zarkov. Ordinary people thrust into extraordinary circumstances, they find themselves as Earth's last line of defense against the forces of the merciless dictator Ming."

Gina Holden is on Blood Ties...

I never liked Whitney on Smallville, and Flash Gordon is not my favorite, but maybe it will surprise me.

God.. I dont know why they are creating shows for all these guys.. do they really need them lol?

I mean Smallville has really been the only to make a lasting impression on people, but I am not sure about this.

A Justice League one would be awesome though.

[Prophet]

Arent they doing Aquaman too now?

[Clara Oswald]

Nope, they did the pilot last year but it didn't get picked up

[The Doctor]

I think they should have revamped Buck Rogers in the 25th Century instead of Flash Gordon. All that Flash Gordon was ever good for was inspiring George Lucas to do the scroll that appears at the start of each Star Wars movie. But Buck Rogers inspired so much more like that two parter in South Park with Cartman going 500 years into the future and let's not forget Duck Dodgers in the 24th and a half Century!!!

However...Sci-Fi's revamp Battlestar Galactica was really good so maybe they will hit chord with Flash Gordon. Who knows it could become a smash hit that will rival Heroes or it could be just another downer. I just hope they don't do the series in a way that mirrors the original (example: new graphics but same cheesy 1950's atomic storytelling.)

Wouldn't be hard to rival Heroes in quality, that show sucks

[The Doctor]

You did not just say Heroes sucks! Please tell me that my eyes are going! How DARE you say that!!!!! Heroes does NOT suck!!!! mg: :cuss:

Anyways...the New Flash Gordon looks like a chump and it doesn't even look like it's set in space! This is just gonna be another Smallville I can feel it.

Heroes is horrible - the writing is so poor and it took them three quarters of a season to develop the characters.

[The Doctor]

I am not listening to this heresay! Heroes is one of the greatest shows in the Universe just like Doctor Who and Bleach!!!! Now feel my divine wrath! :gun2:
