So i'm assuming you're all aware of the scandal involving a british tabloid paper (The Sun) which was ultimately owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Media Corp empire (same person/entity responsible for the toxic propoganda machine FOX aka FAKE News) & the shocking expose' of their unethical & illegal activities including hacking into people's cellphones to gain information on them.

The fall of The Sun & the backlash against Murdoch & News Media Corp has swept from the UK over to the US w/ allegations that News Media Corp holdings here may have hacked into 9/11 victims' phones & other unethical behavior.

Your reaction to all this? Do you think anything will come of it? Britain has already moved w/ swift legal action, prompting Murdoch to scramble & even offer an apology for the gross misconduct of his media holdings there...something he'd never think of doing over HERE in the U.S.

Do you think News Media Corp would even have taken root in this country if the Fair Doctorine Act (which protected against the kind of "news" we see today from Fox or other spin /biased sources, among other things) had not been abolished by Regan? It's interesting to note that Canada recently REJECT a bid by Murdoch to bring Fox News to CANADA! The govt told him to take a hike & they didnt want that "propoganda machine" unleashed on its people! Good for THEM! :invisible:

It wasn't "the Sun" it was "News of the World" that had the scandal, which forced their closing. News Media Corp is MASSIVE and honestly just too big to exist IMO they need to be broken up and split cause if you look at the holding list for News Corp they own nearly everything. Hopefully this will inspire some closer scrutiny on News Corp if not some regulation of how news is allowed to function cause this is out of control.

Murdoch & his son are going up before parliament. then rebecca brooks. i think its interesting to note that this is happening in the UK. im sure if it was in the US it would be spun & covered up quickly but Murdoch doesnt have home court advantage now. I really hope this deals a blow to his "news" media empire.

& it also raises the question about business & ethics vs. profit.
