So...i'm confused. lol. Are we actually going to have casualties in this storyline? Are Rich and Brenda really going to the 'darkside'? Or is everyone supposed to somehow defeat both Shade and Finn and live happily ever after? lol

Just trying to clear things up so I know what to post next. ;)

I kind of wanted to leave that up to the characters I guess. I can't foresee anyone wanting to die.. I was thinking more of a standstill battle perhaps? Fighting the kids into a corner where they feel like they have no more options BUT to choose?

I was thinking that this storyline would put them TOGETHER, so the "darkside" and stuff to me makes no sense.

I liked the Dominique tie-in, even if only as a means to finance things as they move forward.

We will need an idea that will have them survive, have them battle Shade while Finn either goes down or resolves to fight with a long term plan. He could be a long-term foe behind the scenes, deciding that they are too dangerous to engage directly, or he could go away now as a foe that never pans out. Both Shade and Finn could survive and work together as isolated evildoers in league as the kids go after Mystech.

Just my 2 cents...
But I hope this arc ends with them together and ready to fight on.

Well here are the notes that I sent to Brandon...for what they're worth...

Here are my thoughts - just my opinion of course.

If Finn doesn't know where "the Basement" is, then Effy wouldn't have been able to trace the hacking to there, because Finn was behind the hacking. We could still go that way, but we'd have to figure out a different way to explain how Effy knows to get there. Like...Effy and Olivia find Finn's base, and there's some sort of bug or beacon whose signal leads them to the basement? Like MysTech had been watching him all along? OR in the time between leaving Olivia's apartment and meeting at the Roosevelt, when Effy didn't post anything, she COULD have already been to Finn's lair and found the location of the Basement.

So, just to make sure I understand, we have Brenda, Jack and Rich trusting Finn, thinking he's ex-MysTech and going to help them take it and Shade down. Shade is still the enemy from their perspective. In reality, Finn is using the kids to get to Effy and this MysTech stronghold. Right? What is his purpose in looking for it? Just that that is where he will deliver the kids?

I'm not sure Farrah will go along with Shade being "good". As I know she wants to use her later and she is supposed to be a total killer, not like Dominique. Maybe I'm not understanding this part though. What would work well would be to have Dominique and Shade actually have teamed up, so that at that point Shade offers them to join her and Dominique in the Hellfire club. Because THEN Brenda, Jack and Rich could have some realization that Effy and Olivia were indeed RIGHT, and that would allow the whole team to be reunited. That would have more bite than it just being a divide over Finn essentially.

I see the end one of two ways. One, Finn and Shade capture/subdue Effy and Olivia, backed by Brenda, Jack, and Rich. Finn betrays Shade, and he does something to her that incapacitates her. His plan is revealed. Now Brenda, Jack, and Rich know they've been tricked, and they have their "aha" moment and free Effy and Olivia. The team kills Finn, and destroys the facility. Shade is trapped inside and believed to be dead. The kids escape, now a team, and everything is bright and shiny and new

Second, Shade kills Finn when she is betrayed. She could then make her offer to Brenda and Rich to join her (and I still think making her in league with Dominique here is a good idea) - the price being taking out the other three. There could be some sort of moral dilemma yadda yadda, but they say no, and the kids become a team again and unite against Shade. They kill her, destroy the facility, and escape blah blah blah.

lol

Not bad but I am not a fan of Dominique and Shade teaming up at all. It would not jibe with her history or character IMO...it would seem gratuitous and fake to me.

Cause Dominique is such a saint :p Just kidding. I don't think that it's that far-fetched that she would want to make Rich part of the Hellfire Club's minions. But that's just me. I really just think there needs to be a rift between the "Runaways" and then a moment more than "Hey, 3 of you are in trouble so we'll rescue you and all be friends again." that brings them back together. Like a real dramatic point to the story where some of them have to make a choice.

I don't really care I just want to finish this up asap.

This is my favorite idea. Because honestly, the way Farrah was playing Shade, these kids don't have a shot in hell in defeating her. It's like beating a dead horse. So to have Shade distracted enough because of her outrage that Finn played her, this would give the kids the opportunity to self destruct the facility they're in, in turn, "killing" shade as well.

This scenerio gets rid of Finn and Shade for the moment. But of course, leaves an opening for her return later on [if we decide to stay this subgame up again].

That's my vote atleast. :) Great idea btw Vil!!

Hmnn. Just doesn't make sense. How do you make believable that Shade can kick all their asses yet Finn can do ANYTHING with her at all? Even with a distraction that allows them to blow the facility, it makes no sense to me. That was why Dominique made sense to me; she had info and/or firepower that the kids would need to even the odds against Shade. If Shade and Isis are in league the kids have no chance at all.

It feels like we are blowing up this one to rush back to the next one and want to figure out how to do it fast.

Also, how will they grow if we make every adult a bad guy and set them against en entity in Mystech that killed an entire team that we agree could each kill all of the kids? I think they need a mentor, SOMEBODY they can trust, if it is not the people they have met. Perhaps they will meet others...

Well, I think it cheapens our story to have an adult swoop in and save the day. IMHO it should be the kids who overcome the odds and win by becoming a team. And I'm also a little iffy on why we would want a member of the Hellfire Club to be the one to save them anyway...

Frankly, no one seems that interested in posting in this one, and I'd rather just go back to the Six than sit here for 8 months dragging this thing on and on.

Having said that, do whatever you want. You can always go on with this without me.

The things I said have already been 86'd so they are a moot point, so there's really no need to argue the Shade-Isis thing.

Well the reason why we're trying to figure out a solution quickly is because Farrah wants to get back to The Six. So..

But I agree with Vil. The Runaways was originally about the teens coming together in a crisis and trying to work together to defeat it. Not an adult fixing their problems for them. Obviously if we had more time we could explore the Dominique situation a little further, but like I said, Farrah wants to get back to the six. So the only logical situation in my opinion is to somehow kill two birds with one stone and have the kids luck out by getting rid of Shade and Finn all at once. That way we can put this on the backburner and get back to the six.

I was really enjoying this game, but it's been sitting idle for what feels like weeks because no one has a clue what's happening. We just need to figure something out soon so we can wrap it up. But I also like the idea of keeping the conclusion open enough for us to return to later.

dont worry. ive got the perfect solution so that the teens get to save themselves and in keeping with vil's idea that they live on to see their future etc.

i'll go with Finn betraying Shade and using her RAGE as a distraction and somehow knocking her out. this will allow me to step back and let you all finish up with the kids. Dominique and Shade will have their final appearence in the end in a way i think we'll all agree is good. ;)

I think im all for that too. On top of my crazy work hours lately.. my computer is in the process of completely dying.. plus I would MUCH prefer to get back to the Six, because I miss it and who knows how long it will be until Cameron dissappears again? :p

Considering no one is posting, I agree. I think we should just get back to the six. Atleast then we will have Farrah kicking our asses if we don't post. :farrah: :p

Yeah..this thing has fallen into a corner and I don't like it so much right now. It needs more work in this arc than we want to give, so let's just pick right back up with our regularly scheduled program already in progress...

Alright, agreed. Let's just leave this with a cliffhanger and go back to the Six proper.

to be honest, and please don't be upset with me, lol, but I've kind of been suffering from a writer's block of sorts for the last little stretch.... once we decided this fight would be their last stand in this storyline, I think I may have started dragging my feet a bit, because I really enjoyed this shortlived detour. Not that I don't LOVE the Six, because I do, and I really want to get back to it, lol. but I would have enjoyed taking this full steam to its conclusion.

One good thing to come of this, like was said before, now we have all these peripheral characters that we can utilize in the mainstream story if the need ever arises. And since this was technically an 'alternate' timestream, we could feasibly incorporate them however we wanted lol.

BUUUT anyway, enough of that. Let's get back to our traditional roles and save these for a later date.

from what i read, you were one of the main one pushing for this story in my absence AND you wanted to direct it, THEN you let it fall flat? we're not letting you direct anymore stories...EVER! --->

and yes, Cameron's repeated disappearences from mainstream continuity are about as dependable as Blaze's deaths. ;) NEXT!
