Out of the spotlight....
I went onto abc's website the other day to get the skinny on when Grey's Anatomy would be airing again. Turns out, the spin-off (Private Practice) is being aired the day before Grey's Season Premeire. I believe it was Sept. 27...Anybody else watching? IMO, judging from what we've seen of the show so far (practically nothing)...I think the cast is great, but I don't think it will be as well liked as Grey's.

I enjoyed the episode they did last season of Grey's, but it's definitely a different kind of show. I'll probably watch it.

When they combined 'Private Practice' with Grey's in one episode I felt disappointed. I understand they were trying to market their new spin-off but the viewers saw more of the new show than Grey's.

I personally couldn't get into it. I don't believe Kate Walsh is a strong lead actress to pull the show ahead. I didn't find the dialogue amusing either. A lot of Grey's Anatomy fans are furious and even cast mates of the show.

I would be very surprised if this spin-off did well based on a lot of negativity I've read on various blogs for the show. But, you never know though.

i think the whole idea was premature. not ever hit show guarantees a hit spin off...just look at Melrose Place and its baby, Models Inc?

there ARE some historicly successfull spin offs:

All in the family: the Jeffersons, Maude, Goodtimes

Di'ffrnt Strokes: Facts of Life

Carol Burnett Show: Mama's Family

Dallas: Knotts Landing

Cosby Show: A Different World

Cheers: Fraiser

90210: Melrose Place

------------------------------

and colossal FAILURES

Melrose Place: Models Inc.

Mary Tyler Moore: Rhoda, Phyillis

Golden Girls: Golden Palace

Ally Mcbeal: Ally

Dynasty: The Colbys

Bewitched: Tabitha

Happy Days: Joanie loves Chachi

Friends: Joey

THE POINT IS: every hit show doesnt need a frickin spin off...and Grey's has ONLY been out for what...2 or 3 seasons? I think its premature and i think Private Practice will FLOP.

Well, if it does flop, I doubt it will effect Kate Walsh any. She'll probably end up back at Grey's. *shrug* Regardless, i'll watch it to give it a fair shot, but I doubt it'll have the same flare that Grey's has.

I think Kate Walsh is a lesbian.

:D LOL just kidding.

I really dont find her character on Grey's all that engaging...i DID find it funny that they called her "Satan"....she COULD have been a great foil to Meredith but now I find her to be "dead weight"...but NOW...i find the SHOW to be rather boring. "The Nazi" has gone soft, Burke is gone , and Mcdreamy is Mcstupid to me.

Has anyone actually started watching the show? I've watched the first two episodes, and it's not all that bad. Some of it's a little corny, but I think they're trying to find their nitch still and build up the characters. But regardless, I like it. It's, not by a long shot [in my opinion], as good as Grey's Anatomy, but then again, it has only been on 2 episodes. lol.

I havent...but I did see reviews on Headline News and they were generally positive...but then again...so were reviews for "Joey" when it first spun off from "Friends". :D

I just don't seem to be able to care about these characters. I loved Addison on Grey's, but she kind of need that crazy environment that
is Grey's – with all their insane characters – in order to be as awesome as she can be. Private Practice isn't bad, it's just not that interesting so far... I'll keep watching though...

Grey's is starting to pick up a bit for me especially since Erica Hahn (Burke's ball-busting cardio rival from earlier episodes) has joined the staff. The whole Meredith not being able to get over her friggin' issues is dragging for me, but I still watch.

I haven't checked out Private Practice, because the time slot doesn't work for me. Meh. But I might catch myself up, since ABC does have full episodes on their website.
