THE STORY:
Beginning a new era for the Exiles — with a new team, and a new mandate, to safeguard the fate and future of the Omniverse. New leader, new members, new worlds, new adversaries. They’ve barely begun to get to know one another when they’re thrust into their first mission — summoned to a world where the dawn of the historic Marvel Age turns out instead to be a prelude to global catastrophe. Meanwhile, back at the Crystal Palace, Sage struggles with a psychic curse that may well make her the new team’s greatest liability.
Rated A …$2.99

PRICE: 2.99

I gaged a little putting this in . . .:igitt:

Damn you Claremont...can't you think of anything better than Psychic Curses and the Marvel Age being a prelude to a worldwide catastrophe?! I mean honestly, this is getting to be too much. Who the hell has ever heard of a Psychic curse?! Curses cannot be applied through Psychic abilities of any kind without magical or cosmic buffering and support, which it probably does not have due to the insane amount of stupidy rattling around that void you call a mind. Read your guide to the laws of Comic and Anime Temporal, Metaphysical, Extradimensional and Mystical applications on Mortals, "Gods", Demons, etc.

Sigh...what did us Exiles fans do to deserve such harsh punishment? If only Tony Bedard had stayed on longer...at least he was trying to keep the team away from Earth-616 and any of Claremont's screwed up temporal creations or concepts. Plus..."General" Norrin Radd a.k.a. The Silver Surfer: Destroyer of Worlds kicked so much @$$.

right now its
AoA Sabretooth
Morph/Proteus
616 Psylocke
616 Sage
Mystiq/Raphael-Raven Darkholme ( a new male version of Mystique)
Rogue (new - a thief with a life of wealth and sophistication)
Cat/ Kitty Pride (new idk how shes different from the 616 version)

This series is not looking good :(. I'm going to pick up the first few issues to see how Claremont handles it or if its as bad as I think it will be.

MARVEL MONDAYS:
NEW EXILES
Artist Tom Grummett sketches out his take on the new team in this week's debut issue

Note to Marvel editors: Don’t bother sending Tom Grummett a copy of New Exiles #1.

“I’m going to be haunting the local comic shop come Wednesday, because I can’t wait a month for my copies to show up,” the artist laughs. “I gotta see this thing on the stands.”

If Grummett sounds excited, it’s for good reason: He’ll be working on the Exiles — a team charged with traveling through time and space to correct wrongs in alternate universes — with fabled Uncanny X-Men scribe Chris Claremont.

“We find the Exiles traveling to a version of Earth that has seen a great, massive disaster that sprung off a major event in Marvel history,” he hints of the first issue, which hits stores January 16. “They basically come to an Earth in tough shape. It sets us up for a big, epic four-issue storyline that’s global.”

To help celebrate the team’s reboot with a (mostly) new cast, Grummett shared some of his character designs with Wizard.

GRUMMETT ON PSYLOCKE: “She’s a babe. [Laughs] She’s the Betsy from ‘our’ Earth. In her case, it was just simply coming up with a slightly different costume. The idea being that for the most part, when the Exiles went to another universe, we didn’t

GRUMMETT ON SABRETOOTH: “Sabretooth is the same old Sabretooth, but what I wanted to do was come up with my Sabretooth, my own particular take. At one point, Chris called him the ‘sexy beast,’ so I took that as the touchstone for where I wanted to take him, what he’d look like, what he’d stand like, and how he’d act. He’s one of my favorites.”

GRUMMETT ON ROGUE: “She definitely comes from a more cultured upbringing than the Rogue we know. She’s not the wharf rat Rogue that everyone is familiar with. She comes from a more privileged background, so she’s got more of a super-powered supermodel [look], with that sort of demeanor.”

GRUMMETT ON MISTIQ: “[Regarding the period clothing], that was just me more or less spit-balling. We haven’t really gone anywhere with that idea, but we probably will see him doing that kind of thing because we’re going to be traveling to all kinds of versions of alternate Marvel Earths. You just never know. We’ll see where it takes us.”

GRUMMETT ON MORPH: “Morph is Morph. He’s not going to change very much. The gag was that no matter how you dress him up, he’s always going to default back to the more flamboyant superhero costume. It’ll probably be an ongoing joke as we move along in the story. Since he can do practically anything with his appearance, putting him in a particular kind of costume seems kind of redundant, because he can change it in the blink of an eye.”

GRUMMETT ON KITTY PRYDE: “Kitty is the classic Kitty Pryde, under-16 version that I remember from way back when. This is the Kitty Pryde that Chris considers to be the definitive one, so we’re going to go with that. For the first four issues, she’s kind of in the background…because she’s afraid if she leaves, she’ll cease to exist or find her way back.”

I'm not too sure about this but i heard on a few other message boards that Chris Claremont is using the title as a staging point to continue some of his older ideas and move certain characters to how he prefers them. If is true between this and the substandard writing on his issues of Exiles then i plan to avoid this betrayal to the Exiles like the plague.

a male version of mystique? horrible...and he looks gay...like he's literally a gay man. not that a gay character is a bad thing, but to tamper with Mystique like this? bad idea.

why are Sage and Psylocke religated to the Exiles title? thumbs down on that.

Cat- that was the name of the version of Shadowcat who appeared in Limbo (X-men 160, the original Magik LS) and yet this one is supposed to be a nod to the "original" kitty pryde? so what is 616 Kitty Pryde? a clone? they couldve kept that.

Rogue as a super powered super model? well i can certainly appreciate the concept since my main character in the six that i play is based on the same premise however, the rough/touch, DRAMA FREE Rogue of the 80's (specifically during Chris' memorable reign over the X-men) is the best damn version of Rogue...."old school Rogue" as we called her on MD lol.

I could care less about Sabretooth...he wasnt even interesting to me during his initial run with the Marauders in the 80s.

This is one of CC's older ideas Mystique was originally going to be a man but he never got the chance to follow through. Now with the Exiles he has access to alternate universes and can follow up.

He wanted them so he got them traded off Thunderbird, Nocturne and Longshot for them which made me [sarcasm] really happy [/sarcasm]

LOL its the version of the character he prefers and as everyone knows if you don't like a character you dial back time for them and since its magic you don't have to explain it

AoA Sabretooth grew on me even though he is just a Age of Apocalypse version of 616 Wolverine but he still works best with Blink who never should have been written out this title.
