Captain Marvel II/Photon/Pulsar- A member & one time leader of the Avengers, Member /Leader of Nextwave as well. Monica has strong leadership skills and law enforcement experience due to both of her time as a police officer and former leader of the Avengers. She is an excellent markswoman, unarmed combatant, detective, and swimmer with extensive nautical expertise. She has received Harbor Patrol training, and Avengers training in unarmed combat by Captain America.

Monica can transform herself into any form of energy within the electromagnetic spectrum. Among the many energy forms she has assumed and is able to control are cosmic rays, gamma rays, X-rays, ultraviolet radiation, visible light, electricity, infrared radiation, microwaves, radio waves, and neutrinos. By assuming an energy-form, she gains all of that energy's properties.

She is invisible and intangible in many of her energy forms (the most frequent exception being visible light), and is capable of flight in all her energy forms (reaching velocities up to and including light speed). She also has the ability to project these energies from her body while she is in human form (only one wavelength of energy at a time), usually in the form of energy blasts from her hands. She mentally controls both the type and quantity of energy she wishes to transmit. The maximum amount of energy she can transmit at a given time is unknown. Monica can also divert small amounts of various energies for employment as force beams, which have the equivalent to 300 tons of TNT of explosive force. A variation of this ability enables her to project light-based holographic illusions of herself. Monica has also shown the ability to split her energy from into several miniature energy forms that are under her mental command, each miniature Monica is able to react and fly at light-speed.

When she encounters a new or unfamiliar energy, Monica can often duplicate it given enough time for analysis. Monica tends to be physically insubstantial in her energy forms, though with concentration and effort she can sometimes perform tasks such as briefly grasping an object, either by partially solidifying or by applying some sort of force to the object in question.

When Monica temporarily lost her original powers after a massive energy expenditure, she developed the ability to shunt any mechanical energy directed towards her through a dimensional interface surrounding her body, granting her increased strength, resistance to impact, and the ability to fly. After Monica asked Reed Richards to examine these new abilities, he theorized that she accessed the same dimension from which she derived her energy powers to create the interface.

Notable battles & victories include- A hard fought vanquish of Moonstone, A bitter multiple face off against Green Lantern in which he got the drop on her in the first round but she took him down with a vengeance in the 2nd round to such degree that both he & several of his comrades were dismayed.

Limitations/Liabilities: Monica is able to retain her energy form for several hours with no ill effects. She can only transform herself into one wavelength of energy at a time, but she can transform between one energy-state and another in a fraction of a second. Extensive energy transformation and manipulation can be physically taxing once she re-assumes her physical form. Monica can also be forcibly reverted back to her original form by other forces. She's been shown to be vulnerable to high end magick users like Spiral, who not only scrambled her power but also DEPOWERED her along w/ several other avengers in combat.

Flash- Most ppl are more familiar w/ Wally West as The Flash. But there have been several others including two women who carried the name & mantle of Flash!

I'll refer primarily to Wally West for this battle. Wally West began as Kid Flash on Teen Titans & rose to become The Flash, succeeding Barry Allen. Wally West has the distinction of being the fastest & arguably the most powerfull of all The Flashes.

All incarnations of the Flash can move, think, and react at superhuman speeds. Some, notably later versions, can vibrate so fast that they can walk through walls, travel through time and can also lend and borrow speed. Furthermore, all members have an invisible aura around their bodies that prevents themselves and their clothes from being affected by air friction as they move at high speed.

Flash has been shown by DC comics to be officially FASTER than SuperMan on multiple occassions.

The Flash at times used the ability to speed-read at incredible rates and in doing so, process vast amounts of information. Whatever knowledge they acquire in this manner is usually temporary (Bart Allen seems to be the exception, though in earlier years, Max Mercury believed that Bart's speed learning would not stick). Their ability to think fast also allows them some immunity to telepathy, as their thoughts operate at a rate too rapid for telepaths such as Martian Manhunter or Gorilla Grodd to read or influence their minds.

Flashes and other super-speedsters also have the ability to speak to one another at a highly accelerated rate. This is often done to have private conversations in front of non-fast people (as when Flash speaks to Superman about his ability to serve both the Titans and the JLA in The Titans #2). Speed-talking is also sometimes used for comedic effect where Flash becomes so excited that he begins talking faster and faster until his words become a jumble of noise (Wally West once became so surprised that he generated a small sonic boom with his voice).

Wally's primary superpower is his ability to be able to control the speed of which his body vibrates and to move at super speed, which he uses primarily to run at super-human velocities. This super speed is derived from his connection to the Speed Force: a vaguely defined extra-dimensional energy force from which most speedster heroes draw their powers (while the original Flash, Jay Garrick, can draw upon the Speed Force, Jay is one of the few speedsters that is a metahuman first, allowing him to keep a degree of super speed even when the Speed Force was cut off from the others).

Using his abilities, Wally can run at such speed that he can run on water, create powerful vortices with his arms or body, and vibrate at such speeds that he becomes invisible to the naked eye. Wally can also match the vibrational constant of solid objects and vibrate through them, passing his molecules through the spaces in between the atoms and molecules of the matter he's vibrating through. Unlike other speedsters, once he became one with the Speed Force some of his abilities changed, one of which is that the objects Wally is vibrating though become atomically unstable and explode a second or two later. While this has its drawbacks, Wally now tends to use this offensively in battle.

Wally can also use his speed in a variety of clever ways in combat from creating a powerful whirlwind/tornado lifting and trapping his foe (which, if he chooses, can be used to knock his opponent out by robbing them of their oxygen supply), to binding and trapping his foes with whatever's lying around before they have a chance to react, to pummeling them with hundreds of super speed punches in a few seconds. Like many of the more powerful speedsters, he is able to run at such speeds where he is able to travel through time, although being able to control and fine tune his temporal destinations is quote "extremely tricky".

Wally is the fastest of all the Flashes, arguably even the fastest being that has ever existed and it has been remarked that Wally and Barry Allen are the only two speedsters that were fast enough to even outrun death. However, now that Barry Allen is back, his "Fastest Man Alive" title may be in dispute.

Over the years, Wally's speed has fluctuated from his career as Kid Flash, where he could run beyond the speed of light, to the beginning of his career as the Flash, in which he was limited to a top speed of approximately 700 mph (1,100 km/h).He is now confirmed to be able to run beyond the speed of light.

Notable battles & victories include- Soundly defeating Superman in several global race competitions to determine who was faster; Trouncing Quicksilver in the Marvel vs. DC crossover; Holding Wonder Woman @ bay.

Limitations/Liabilities: Has been shown to be vulnerable to magickal attacks & sonic attacks, particularly sonic attacks from The Black Canary & Silver Swan. Can be impetuous & juvenile. Wally West has a history of being a playboy & has a tendency to flirt/hit on women who are totally unavailable or not interested.

So which one takes this? "The lady of light" or "The super speedster"

You keep 'em coming...

Photon wins this 7/10 times. Once she reaches her energy form she can match him speed for speed and, if he is not careful, she can duplicate and manipulate speedforce energies, taking them from him as she took ring energies from Green Lantern. His only hope is a hard takedown before she energizes or to dissipate her early on before she gets going. Otherwise, I am with Monica on this one.

Oh, and Barry is the Greatest Flash. Had you picked him I would have likely declared this a draw or damned close to it.

I was intrigued by the idea of these two going at it. I've seen her fight Green Lantern & that was a serious battle indeed. I've also thought about Photon vs. Binary but that's another thread for another time.

I don't know that I'm terribly familiar w/ Barry as Flash. Most ppl that I hear mention Flash always mention Wally West. I grew up w/ him on Teen Titans & later the Justice League & while the cartoon (Superfriends) made him look rather weak, Wally was pretty damn powerfull w/ The Speed Force in the comics.

I imagine The Flash would try to HIT on her at more than one point during the confrontation, which would piss Monica, who tends to be rather straight laced, off even more.

I also don't see the odds in favor of Flash. Monica gets 7/10 from me too.

I have to give this one to the Flash, one of Wally's abilities is to use his connection to the speed force to govern all motion and momentum around him. I think if Monica does try to use her powers to duplicate his speed energies shes going to be in for a rude awaking as she spends most of her times as a statue lol. Or even the the Flash-family signature move running their most powerful enemies into the speed force and trapping them there or in an alternate universe

Why would she turn into a statue when trying to duplicate the speed force?

She's capable of moving @ the speed of light too.

Would the Flash-family signature move work on someone like her who is invisible & intangible in most of her energy states?

She was able to wrest the green power from a GL and use it without the ring. I doubt she would be afraid of the speed force energies.

that's what i keep going back to. that was a pretty good fight between those two. not to mention her harsh battles w/ Moonstone (who I think would give GL a serious ass whipping), whose power signature was difficult for Monica to copy but she eventually triumphed over Karla.

The Speed Force governs all motion and energy in time and space, Wally (Barry never used his powers beyond speed and time travel) can use that power to decelerate molecules to the point that people become frozen like statues.

Is Monica's power open her up to dispersion? Vibrating her molecules to the point she can't keep herself together.

Vibration would not generally work on her in energy mode. Flash MIGHT be able to do it if it can be done but I do not bank on it.

My take (considering what I know of both subjects and the nature of energy) is that he could not simply freeze her in most of her forms.
