So I don't watch the show, but I just read that the new season is going to skip four years into the future and skip the college years. Just thought that was an interesting thing to do, and wondered if there were any opinions on whether this is a good strategy or bad :)

this show is still on? ive watched it a few times...it had the same kind of transformation as Melrose Place...going from being a show with mild mannered premise to being a teenaged(and far too pretentious) version of 90210 and MP combined. i wasnt impressed and i was TOTALLY ticked off when they started showing episodes of it on Soapnet

jumping "ahead" in the timeline is always an interesting thing to do because it can allow for creative surprises, just look at Star Trek the Next Generation when they went into the future in the episode "yesterday's enterprise" and Lt. Yar was back from the dead (among other things) .

but will this pull in more viewers? i doubt it, at least not among OUR age group.

I love OTH...but i'm not sure if i'm too keen on them jumping ahead 4 years into the future. I heard that it was only for one episode though? Hmm..who knows.

Nope, not from what I read. The thing that annoys me about it is that all (well 99%) of the characters are ultra successful. I mean, they just graduated college for god's sake! lol. I know it's a tv show and all, but they could add a tad of realism...

I don't think i'm going to like this...:( Why skip 4 years and not share the growth of the characters after they leave high school? It's stupid. I'd be really surprised if this was successful among the viewers.

The article I read said the creator said that they had originally envisioned lots of flashbacks but they ended up not needing as many as they thought.

In my opinion, it's the only thing saving the show. The ratings dipped to it's lowest last season and the storylines were NOT well received with fans. Especially Peyton's Stalker... it was all shot like some cheesy B-Movie. But I like this season. It's a refreshing change from what they were writing before. The characters are allowed to be more mature and I'm loving how Nathan and Haley are dealing with a small child, Nathan's injury, and Haley's new job as a teacher.

Lucas is isn't with Peyton... which is refreshing since he either been with Brooke or Peyton. Although I'm not really liking Lindsay. Peyton is starting her own label, but I think she should suffer financially somehow. Like Brooke's mother pulls the funding without Brooke knowing since Brooke is the one funding it. Brooke's clothing line has risen to a full blown fashion label. I have issues with that... since she got by with little to no training at all during the gap. But I understand her rise to fame... and how fast it was. Especially with her mother's shrewd managing.

Overall... there are things I hate and thing I like, but it's WAY better then last season. By far.

I thought this season was going to be a flop with this whole 4 years into the furture thing, but I really enjoy it. I love the flashbacks to the past showing why things happened the way they did [ie Peyton and Lucus breaking up]. The only thing I really didn't like was the fact that Brooke is 21 and has a huge fashion lable, magazine, ect ect. It's just way too unrealistic to me. But even after I got over that I like how she struggles to try and keep it her company rather than have her mother call all the shots. Anyhow, I really like this season so far....although I still want Peyton and Lucas back together lol. :p
