Who reads the classic Golden Age stuff? How about comic strips? Any EC fans here? What are your favorite old school comics and what do you like best about them?

Here's my two cents: Back then, comics were good lengthy reads, whereas today, I can flip through a book in a few minutes. Plus, most of them were done-in-one, whereas today, people like Bendis have made a habit of producing six to twelve issue arcs that really don't have to go on for as long as they do.

I haven't read alot of the golden age comics. The only things i really read is a few issues of the original Captain Marvel and a few reprints of the Spirit which were really good. Its a little hard to get exposure to the Golden Age nowadays.

People like Bendis SUCK.

I dont know if these qualify, but my favorite old school comic strips were:

Brenda Starr
Modesty Blaze
Broom Hilda
Family Circus

My neighbor (and his FINE ASS GRANDSON :love10:, whom i grew up with) had some REALLY old school issues of Fantastic Four and we'd sit there in his attic and read through them. But Fantastic Four is "Silver Age" right?

I think its amazing how some golden age or silver age characters have held over for so many decades.

What age would Namor be considered? isnt he the first "mutant" of Marvel?

Namor is Golden Age I believe. He was one of the first characters of modern Marvel Comics.

Just checked Spring 1939 debuted in Marvel Comics #1 of Timely Comics predecessor of Marvel Comics Inc.

AC Comics has been pretty good in publishing golden-age and silver-age stuff since the 90s in Men Of Mystery comics. A little expensive but worth it if you can find it at your LCS.

I grew up reading G-A reprints alongside the rest of the stuff coming out during the late 60s and 70s, plus I love the Masterworks/Archives I've got. I need money for all the rest.............
