Nightmare in Melrose Place

"You could be trouble.....but the thing is...I like trouble."

Little old me? I doubt that I would do YOU any harm. Remember, you're no saint, Claudia.

Nicolas chuckled a bit.

And don't get my helpfulness twisted pretty lady, under more...manageable circumstances I would be more than happy to HELP you sleep soundly as well. But on a more serious note, you NEED sleep. Ad although you may be worried about what Barbas may use against you, the more worrisome thing may be to be exhausted and less alert. even of it is for a short time, you need to sleep.

Nicolas: Little old me? I doubt that I would do YOU any harm. Remember, you're no saint, Claudia.

[with a seductive chuckle] "Touche."

Nicolas: And don't get my helpfulness twisted pretty lady, under more...manageable circumstances I would be more than happy to HELP you sleep soundly as well.

"Oh really? Well I guess my ego is a little less bruised now. But actions speak louder than words....so we'll see."

Her coy tone would not go unnoticed by Nicolas, and niether would her challenge. But the playfulness of their conversation became serious as Nicolas issued her a warning about being less alert because of her obvious fatigue. Claudia nibbled her bottom lip, the prospect of sleep sounding wonderful....but she didn't want to take the chance of being wrapped up in yet another terrifying dream.

"You just worry about getting more information on Barbas, alright? I'll talk to you later."

MP -- Apt 6

Claudia: "Hello yourself, Handsome."

Clara stopped dead in her tracks…. She had just reached her sister's door, which was slightly open but not enough to see into…. She was blocked from view but Clara could hear her sister talking on the phone to someone. Clara stood in place quietly, her instincts kicking in. She could only hear her Claudia's side of the conversation, but that was enough to quickly determine who she was talking to, given the subject matter.

Claudia: "No, but the lack of sleep is starting to take a toll. Which i'm sure Barbas is counting on. Has your group found anything useful on how to defeat him? Or atleast knock him down a few pegs to give us some breathing room before his next attack? [a pause as the response came from the other end of the line] No....i'd rather not sleep. I have far too many demons that Barbas can drudge up and use against me. I'm no Saint, Nicky. [Claudia softly laughs] Now that's a new one. Usually men want to sleep with me, not watch me sleep. I don't know if I should be insulted that you would rather do the latter…"

Clara rolled her eyes, indignantly folding her arms across her chest. She knew eavesdropping came with its cost, but REALLY…. Listening to her sister verbally copulate with that depraved thug was nauseating and made her want to tear out her own hair. Still, she remained silent at the threshold, her interest perking as she heard her own name come up.

Claudia: "Clara understands that we need to work together in order to stop Barbas. She's just extremely protective of her big sister.....her instincts about people are usually spot on. You could be trouble.....but the thing is...I like trouble. [with a seductive chuckle] Touche. [pause] Oh really? Well I guess my ego is a little less bruised now. But actions speak louder than words… so we'll see. […] You just worry about getting more information on Barbas, alright? I'll talk to you later."

Oh, thank God. They weren't going to segue into full-on phone sex, Claudia was hanging up. Clara quickly and quietly backed up several steps, positioning herself at the other end of the hall as if she had just STARTED towards Claudia's room. It was from this distance that she called out to her sister…

"Hey, Claws?"

She called, making her way down the hall again, knocking softly on the slightly open door, before gently pushing it open to see her sister lowering her phone from her ear. Now here was a predicament… Clara could ask who Claudia had been talking to, and deliberately set her sister up with a chance to lie to her [and therefore set herself up for a likely chance of being disappointed when her sister DID lie]… or she could pretend that Claudia would OF COURSE tell her the truth and by asking she was inviting doubt and mistrust that needn't be there. And while the SMART thing to do would be to test her sister's honesty, Clara suffered a bit of a handicap when it came to Claudia…. She truly wanted to believe that her sister had only the BEST of intentions and that Claudia wouldn't keep her in the dark anymore…. She naïvely hoped that Claudia had learned her lesson about being truthful with Clara earlier when she finally relented and told the 'truth' about her nightmare in the bathroom last night. That had turned out well, right? Surely by now Claudia trusted Clara with these things, right?

In the end, Clara would rather go on believing her sister would tell her the truth about talking to Nicolas, so she didn't ask. Instead, she gave a gentle smile and waved her own phone as she crossed Claudia's room and plopped onto the bed next to her.

"Look what I've got."

Clara: Hey Claws?

"Yeah?"

Seeing Clara enter her bedroom, she was unaware that her sister had been listening to her conversation with Nicolas. Not that it made a difference one way or another....she would have done the same thing if roles were reversed. ;) They WERE Zacchara's afterall.

Crossing her legs indian style as Clara plopped down next to her, she handed Claudia her cell phone wating to show her something. Reading the text message Haleigh sent her, it was information on Barbas and instructions to go to Nicolas if anything were to come up.

"Huh..."

It also stated that Haleigh and her group would be leaving tonight and would return by dawn. Where they were going however wasn't disclosed.

"So they're leaving? Funny how Nicolas conveniently forgot to mention that little detail."

Handing Clara her phone back, Claudia lifted her own phone up [which was in her other hand] emphesizing that she just got off of it with him before setting it on her night table.

"It seems that Haleigh and I had the same idea [about contacting Nicolas]. I just got off the phone with Nicolas right before you came in to ask if he got anymore information on Barbas. He doesn't....and now, it seems his friends are running for the hills. I wonder where they're going? I mean....if Barbas attacks in dreams, how far do they have to go in order to not be effected by him?"

Claudia pondered her own question about where exactly her fellow residents were running off to. She didn't know anything about Barbas other than his powers. But even THAT was sketchy. Did he have to be in close proximity to his targets in order to attack them? Or could he be on the other side of the planet and just home in them and attack them there? If so, WHERE would the six go? Another plane of existance? If so, WHO had THAT particular capability?

MP -- Apt 6

Claudia: "So they're leaving? Funny how Nicolas conveniently forgot to mention that little detail."

Clara pretended to be slightly confused, until Claudia lifted her phone up in explanation… to which Clara grimly nodded.

"Forgot? Or deliberately 'neglected' to tell you?"

Claudia: It seems that Haleigh and I had the same idea [about contacting Nicolas]."

Clara seemed doubtful about that.

"Really, because it seems to me that Haleigh and the rest of her crew are getting out of dodge and Nicolas, upstanding gentleman that he certainly is NOT, didn't merit an INVITE to go along with them."

She replied… just a little dig to drive her point home…. But no more resistance as her sister brought up the phone conversation directly…. She wasn't happy about the situation with Nicolas but she WAS pleased that her sister was open and honest about it, so she didn't press the issue… rather, she focused on speculating about where the rest of the Melrose residents where going.

"I was wondering the same thing myself. I got the feeling Haleigh was purposely being vague. She sent a message rather than calling, probably to avoid having to dodge any questions I might ask."

Clara: Forgot? Or deliberately 'neglected' to tell you? Because it seems to me that Haleigh and the rest of her crew are getting out of dodge and Nicolas, upstanding gentleman that he certainly is NOT, didn't merit an INVITE to go along with them.

Claudia rolled her eyes and sighed heavily. She really wished Clara would give her a little more credit than to think she was simply giving Nicolas a free pass because he was handsome and fun to flirt with. Claudia was far from stupid and knew how to work the situation to her advantage. She just did it in unconventional ways....and ways that would entertain herself along the way. ;)

"Well WHATEVER the reason may be, they're leaving and we're stuck here hugging our 12pack of Red Bull and hoping for the best."

Clara: I got the feeling Haleigh was purposely being vague. She sent a message rather than calling, probably to avoid having to dodge any questions I might ask.

"Yeah, like what place is far enough way from Barbas' attacks that they can get there tonight and return by dawn? [thinking outloud] They must have a teleporter as well...."

Still, something didn't sit right with Claudia.

"But what I find strange is how do they KNOW that Barbas can't just attack them wherever they go? He could be doing all this while lounging on a beach chair in Cabo sipping Margarita's for all we know.....It doesn't add up."

Claudia gave Clara a 'what the fuck' look when another thing suddenly dawned on her.

"And why the hell does Davidoff suddenly care if we live to see another day? I'm sure we'd be one less obstacle on her 'road to redemption'."

<< Karen let things play out as they will. Mike HAD to realize that Alison knew what she was doing. If she didnt then WHO did? >>

<< Morgan defended Alison which was no different than Mike defending Nicolas. If he could do it, surely he realized OTHERS could too. and Haleigh...well, like Delilah, Karen agreed completely with the woman. She nodded slowly as she watched from afar and finally as Mike spoke, realizing that he did not do the best job of conveying what he felt, Karen watched him intently. He did not dispute what Haleigh said and Karen KNEW that in Mike's heart, even he knew that Nicolas was a grown man, young or not, who had to learn how to deal with the fallout of his actions.>>

<< the only thing that caused Karen to frown a bit was Mikes CONTINUED harping on the incident of Ava's murdering him. NOT that it was "forgivable or excusable" as he seemed to think everyone in the room thought...but that he seemed not to realize what LEAD to it...WHO lead to it...or that it was KAREN who had risked her SOUL to bring him back as well as showing her savage side to Ava for not only murdering Mike but for hurting HER deeply by doing that. it was one PAINFULL moment in a whirlwind of many from the fallout of set.>>

<< did he not realize that part of the reason Ava had EXILED herself on Aerie for the time being was BECAUSE of her actions during that incident? Did he not realize that she was no different than Morgan or Haleigh or anyone ELSE who had gone OVER THE TOP and shed blood and then had to find a way to DEAL WITH IT so they could move forward.?>>

<< he seated himself and Karen slipped off of the bed, looking at Delilah and Morgan calmly as she passed by them and over to Mike. placing her hands on his shoulder as she stood behind him, she leaned down and hugged him.>>

you're forgetting something, Michael. I am sitting in the same room as you and you dare to say you're alone?

<< she said close to his ear. >>

You've got to trust Alison. If she doesnt know what she's doing...then NOBODY does and you've got to stop telling OTHER PEOPLE what they feel about any certain incident, INCLUDING what happened on Aerie. You died because of Ava...she's not HERE right now in part because of THAT and You're ALIVE because of ME...i risked my SOUL for you. Concentrate on TODAY...here and now...on ME and let's get through the night TOGETHER with the rest of our family.

<< squeezing him a bit with reassurance, she stands up and takes his hand, leading him back to the others.>>

we're ready to go and Alison, please be carefull. let Nicolas and Sharon do whatever they can to assist you in your plan.

on to limbo

<< Morgan hugs Alison and pleads with her to be carefull. Witches have an almost INSTINCTIVE fear of Barbas. the last witch to defeat him may have been Morgan's great grandmother, but Verna's death several years later was SUSPICIOUS at best. The mystery of Verna Eckert would become more clear as the Six and the Zaccharas moved forward and through this nightmare...but for now, Alison was about to try something risky...and ALL OF THEM knew that while she was plenty powerfull, she was still a prime target for Barbas. They had to trust her, but they ALSO had to trust that NICOLAS and Sharon would be able to help her if she needed it.>>

<< Morgan opens a disk for Karen, Mike, Blaze, Delilah and Haleigh. Simultaneously another disk opens before Zach where he isand Morgan's voice can be heard summoning him to step into it. In the twinkling of Morgan's icy violet eyes, the Six and Zach are teleported to LIMBO, straight into the SUMMIT, the castle that was made from the largest, most massive mountain that defied even the endless skies of Limbo.>>

<< This was Morgan's unofficial home away from home. A place where she was absolute mistress. Limbo reflected what she was and despite the control she had and strived to maintain, Limbo showed the darkness in her soul, the darkest of magick that gave her power and also tainted her.>>

<< Inside the Summit, everyone had been here before, they had seen the large, mysterious halls and walkways and artifacts that could be seen. The Summit was a strong fortress that was older than EVERYONE among t he Six combined. a whispering wind haunted the air in the ancient stone halls and barrel vaulted passage ways.>>

<< Morgan showed everyone to their guest rooms, while she took herself to the master suite of the summit. a place that the others had seen before during the quest to find Alison and Ava. Some found the Summit to be mysterious and intriguing, others found it to be creepy and "reeked of evil". >>

<< everyone had to remember that they might be visited or seemingly confronted by temporal phantoms AND they had to watch out for randomly appearing stepping discs, although with Morgan present, she would keep them far more in check.>>

<< The Six now had the chance to breathe, reflect and SLEEP. Barbas may be able to reach them to some degree, but he would be woefully outmatched, just as Set and Belasco were against Morgan.>>

:: a pair of cobalt blue eyes opens in the air, looking upon Nicolas as he converses with Claudia.::

:: at the same time, ANOTHER pair of those same eyes opens in Apartment6 of MP as Alison surveys them with her seer's eye. she sees Claudia, Clara and Johnny, and those floating colbalt blue eyes narrow with CONTEMPT. any of the three of them would not be immediately aware that they were being watched by the precognitive witch. in fact, of ALL the Six, Alison was the one they were totally unaware of at this point. It gave her the advantage. ::

pathetic swine.

:: meanwhile, the eyes in Nicolas' dwelling fix upon him with an unwavering stare. she doesnt say anything, but its clear she is aware of the entire conversation Nicolas had with Claudia and so he better not try to deny any of it.::

Nicolas, what do you think you're doing?

:: she speaks to him, her voice fills the air.::

The Zaccharas are not your priority. And you better take care that you DON'T betray the Six's secrets as you nearly did several times throughout this conversation you're having with "Claws"....

come to Delilah's apartment at MP IMMEDIATELY. WE have work to do. Sharon and I are there waiting on you.

:: and with that, the floating colbalt blue eyes sparkle before shimmering out of view of Nicolas. at the same time, the eyes in apartment 6 disappear as well. ::

In apartment 1

:: Alison looks at Sharon.::

He should be here any moment. The others are now safely settled in Limbo.

Sure enough, Nicolas appears before the pair of ladies as they wait for him. He looks actually a bit refreshed and ready.

Alison...still checking up on me I see, a habit of yours I find strangely invigorating. No worries, the Six's secrets have never been more safe than with me, but I DO plan to do what I promised I would do in regards to them. I KEEP my word. In fact, I take it that we're here to confront Barbas himself. That should keep him occupied, eh? In any case, let's hear your plan...I am at your disposal.

Claudia: "Yeah, like what place is far enough away from Barbas' attacks that they can get there tonight and return by dawn? They must have a teleporter as well…"

"I've heard Daddy mention that Haleigh just seemingly appeared or disappeared out of thin air… but it's definitely possible that more than ONE of them can teleport… I doubt Haleigh Davidoff would socialize with people who were completely useless."

Claudia: "But what I find strange is how do they KNOW that Barbas can't just attack them wherever they go? He could be doing all this while lounging on a beach chair in Cabo sipping Margaritas for all we know..... It doesn't add up."

Johnny: "Maybe they're leaving this dimension."

Johnny suggested, having apparently finished his workout and come to stand in the doorway. Clara was visibly pleased.

"John, you're brilliant. I KNEW there was a reason I kept you around."

Johnny: [playfully]"You mean it wasn't my dashing good looks and irresistible charm?"

[smiling] "Mm... That too."

They share a moment of eye contact before Clara remembered that her sister was right THERE, and she shifted her gaze to Claudia.

"So they didn't JUST skip town, they left the REALM to get a good night's sleep... And wherever it is, they didn't want US to know they could get there...."

Johnny: "Probably because one of them has some kind of reign over the realm... Or control over who can enter it, at least. If Barbas can target ANYONE through sleep, then I would assume he can get to people across dimensions as well...."

"So the place they retreated to is quite special. It would explain why Haleigh wouldn't want us to know about it."

Johnny nodded. Claudia wondered aloud why Haleigh suddenly cared about them at all. Clara shrugged... She supposed it was quite similar to the reason Nicolas deigned to help them.

"She probably thinks there's something she can get out of it. Daddy always used to say that one GOOD thing about working with Haleigh Davidoff was that neither party involved made any effort to conceal the fact that they were USING the other person. He said it was 'refreshing honesty in a world of deception'."

MP Apartment 1

[ Sharon was in her Silver Swan armour ensemble, complete with the silver eye mask. She was ready to get to work.]

Nice of you to join us, Nicolas.

[ She said knowingly as he came in.]

Alison: Indeed. I'm glad that you havent COMPLETELY lost your way between here and APARTMENT 6.

[ the women both digging at him for what was MORE than mere concern for Claudia.]

[Nicolas said he was ready to help and asked what the plan was, and Sharon nodded.]

Yes, tell me how i can bend Barbas into a PRETZEL!

Mike: "Hell, even the murder of a teammate elicited a yawn from this crowd and plenty of SUPPORT for the murderer."

Haleigh felt a spike of anger and a homicidal urge. It took every ounce of self control to stop herself from stalking over there and punching him in the mouth. She took a slow, measured breath.

[vehemently] "MICHAEL.... My sister suffered a PSYCHOTIC BREAK because she was held against her will in an alternate reality where she was TORTURED and STARVED for months, and then when she was finally rescued and came back home, she immediately had to deal a whole bunch of OTHER SHIT and she LOST IT. Now I don't know WHY she chose you. Maybe you were in range... Maybe she doesn't like your cologne, or maybe she really just honestly doesn't like you.... But NOBODY here commended her on killing you, okay?? We simply UNDERSTAND that she wasn't in her right MIND when she did it, she needed HELP and we all had to do the best we COULD. The difference between THAT situation and this CLUSTERFUCK that Nicolas has created is that Nicolas isn't INSANE, he's just acting like he has the emotional maturity of a TWO YEAR OLD and it's DANGEROUS, not to mention incredibly ANNOYING."

She had INTENDED on being patient with him, but him bringing up her sister had been out of line. The two situations weren't the same and nobody had acted like what Ava did wasn't a big deal. It WAS a big deal and whether Mike didn't realize that or he was just grasping at straws... The reason he brought it up didn't matter to Haleigh. She wasn't going to let him use her sister like that, ESPECIALLY if it was irrelevant. Mike backed away and sat down, and Karen went over to talk to him privately... Everyone else prepared to leave. Morgan opens a disc for them [and one for Zach as well], and off to Limbo they go.

Haleigh and Zach joined up as they spotted each other, and Morgan went about showing everyone to their rooms. Haleigh took in deep breaths of the Limbo air... To her it was refreshing and revitalizing and the dark surroundings of the Summit didn't faze her at all... it was a very interesting place... She wouldn't mind staying to explore it.... If they didn't have to get back to fight Barbas. As Morgan left Haleigh and Zach to their own devices, Zach prompted Haleigh for explanation.

"Well.... Remember I told you about that dream I had? Yeah... I might've left out a couple of details."

I'm not here to USE you. I've asked you here to join me and Sharon in a plan that I have crafted. The results of which could determine the outcome of our attempt to deal with Barbas.

As for the Zaccharas, I'm going to tell you like i told...WARNED Haleigh. You will REGRET any personal interaction with them. Giving to Claudia is like giving to a black hole. Her soul is as fractured and amoral as any I have ever "SEEN". You play a dangerous game , you risk selling YOURSELF out, not to mention this team...YOUR FAMILY. Your duty is HERE with us and if you falter, if you neglect it, i could be lost tonight.

Sharon: and remind me to tell you MY story about them, during my days as a senator.

:: Alison shakes her head as Sharon asks about bending Barbas into a pretzel.::

physical power alone is not enough against Barbas, He has the ability to render a person UNABLE to access their abilities, physical, magickal or psychic. But he has to touch them at the base of their fears first. For now...we have tripped him up. the majority of the team has gone to Limbo where he will be less than inconsequential should be be stupid enough to try to reach them there.

NOW is the time for me to play a game with him and I need the two of you to help me. I am going to go into the dream zone and search for him...bait him. Nicolas I need you to "Follow" me and watch over me. When it becomes too dangerous, or deadly...get us out. Sharon, I need YOU to watch over our physical bodies and this apartment. If Nicolas and I should become overwhelmed, use your sonic scream to jar us back to consciousness. do WHATEVER you have to do to wake us up AND KEEP a look out for the Zaccharas. I don't trust them as far as i could send one of them flying with my TK.

:: Alison was proposing a risky plan, but of them all, she was best suited for it.::

I'll need time to fall asleep. are you two ready for this?

Clara: I doubt Haleigh Davidoff would socialize with people who were completely useless.

"She associates with Sharon. And we both know what a complete waste of space SHE is."

Claudia said in a bitchy, bitter, tone.

Johnny: Maybe they're leaving this dimension.

Clara: John, you're brilliant. I KNEW there was a reason I kept you around.

Johnny: You mean it wasn't my dashing good looks and irresistible charm?

Clara Mm... That too.

"Riiight. [to Clara] And you're bitching to ME about MY flirting?"

Giving her a sly smile, Claudia had no problems with Clara or Johnny exploring a relationship besides mob princess and trusted body guard. She liked Johnny. He was smart, protective, strong, and would lay his life down for her sister. Even though Claudia thought love brought nothing but pain and misery, Clara unfortunately still believed in it and she had to respect her sisters feelings. BUT, that didn't mean Claudia couldn't poke a little fun at their budding romance. ;)

Clara and Johnny hypothesized about one of the residents being able to teleport to different dimentions, or even going as far as controlling a dimention of their own. It was definitely a possiblity.

Johnny: If Barbas can target ANYONE through sleep, then I would assume he can get to people across dimensions as well....

"But his powers could be hampered enough for him not to be a threat there. Especially if one of them has complete control over the realm."

Clara then brought up Haleigh and how the hybrid thought she would somehow profit from helping them. Claudia would never admit it, but Haleigh's buisness techniques often mirrored her own. Only offer someone something when you know you can get something back from them.

"At this point, let her believe she's going to profit from helping us. If it gets us more information on Barbas and help in destorying him, we can play along."

[vehemently] "MICHAEL.... Mike looked knowingly at Karen as the comment was made, but saaid nothing. They were whisked away to Limbo, where Mike partnered up with Karen as they made themselves comfortable in a suite. He turned her to him and gave her a big hug, then pulled her away a bit, looking into her eyes.

I will always appreciate your love and support, and I thank you for it. I do not mean to have it sound as if I do not have you or appreciate having you, Lord knows I do. Maybe Barbas is getting to me more than I have admitted to myself...

Limbo - the summit - Blaze's room

Arriving through the stepping disk with the others, Blaze shivered. The whispering winds giving her the creeps. She knew this is who and what Morgan was. But even Blaze couldn't help it. Pulling the sleeves of her v-neck onyx sweater down her arm, which was plagued with goosebumps. She knew why they were here.

Peering around at the halls of the summit, Blaze followed the others closely. Morgan was kind enough to show everyone their guest quarters. Blaze didn't feel like sleeping though. Instead she inspected her room curiously. Her fingers running across the silky fabric on her bed before finding a shelf full of old books. Picking one up she blew a thick coat of dust away, nearby choking on it.

Returning to her bed she sunk down onto the large bed. Kicking off her black and white Adidas shoes that fell to the floor with a clunk. Tucking her jean-clad legs under her to sit Indian style. She flipped through the book finding entertainment in it. Something to keep herself occupied at the moment.

Limbo- the summit

<< Karen hugged her daughter and kissed her on the cheek.>>

You get some rest honey. Tomorrow is a big day for you.

<< and with that, Morgan leaves Mike and Karen in the gothic style suite. they are on one of the higher floors of this massive castle. the oldest of secrets and spirits lurk in the winds that whispered through the stone walls and halls of this castle.>>

<< Karen hugs Mike as they settle into the suite and as Mike spoke, Karen stood before a full length mirror and lowered her hands, snapping her fingers as a chime sounds off and her outfit instantly changes from what she was wearing to an exquisite satin robe.>>

Michael, you went through something that MOST mortals dont "recover" from. Its called DEATH. I dont expect you to "get over it" anytime soon, but i do expect that you STOP blaming everyone else for what YOU think they feel. You're not helping anything by doing that.

Haleigh had perhaps the most INSIGHTFULL moment I've seen of her in ages just now in pointing out the trauma that Ava and Alison both went through before being faced with the nightmare of Set.

<< she primps in the mirror.>>

You expect the rest of them to give such consideration and understanding to Nicolas and yet you continuously bash them over the head about Ava. BOTH have reasons for why they deserve sympathy AND judgement but you dont see Haleigh asking us to give Ava a free pass which is what you are doing for Nicolas.

<< looking around.>>

I think I'll have a shower...hmmm But i'll probably have to use a storm spell to generate the water and refreshment i need....Ive never stopped to think whether this ancient structure has something as "modern" as indoor plumbing.

Ava expressly said yesterday that she was not remorseful about murdering me, save for hurting your feelings. THAT bothers me. Especially now to hear you agree with Haleigh that she was sick before when she did it, but is all better now. THAT is all better?

You know what Karen? Fine. I will stop commenting on it. Each person has to decide how to react to the other. And you're right it is NOT helping, so I need to find a way to squash it, not let it bother me anymore. But I don't want to live life with my head on a swivel anymore than Morgan does.

Mike sits heavily at the edge of the bed, his head in his hand. He continues to speak in a lower voice as he tells Karen what happened that night.

I smelled her perfume just before she did it, Karen. I KNEW it was her behind me. And I didn't even flinch, did NOTHING to save myself. I never even knew I was in DANGER. It never occurred to me that she would TEAR OUT my throat. I TRUSTED her with my life, Karen. I had just risked my life for hers, and she took mine from me like I was a dog in the street. And now she stands in our midst and all but declares that she'd do it again if it wouldn't hurt your feelings and I waited for an outcry that never came. I KNOW that it is probably an oversimplification, but it accurately represents how I felt at that moment and immediately afterwards. I KNOW how you feel about me and I love you more than anything, more and more every day. But I thought that there would be someone...anyone on this team other than you that gave a shit, that would feel that her comments deserved condemnation. You weren't there, but if you were at that moment I believe you would understand more clearly how I feel about it.

Mike stood quickly, undressing.

There, I have said it all, and I actually DO feel better. Maybe this therapy stuff is for me as well.

Mike chuckles a bit.

I DO have ANOTHER thing that would make me feel even better, Doctor.

Mike, now fully nude, walks slowly towards the silk-robed sorceress...

How about a skinny dip in the rain? I wash your back, you wash mine...

Nicolas listened as Alison laid out her plan. He did see one thing that needed to change.

If Sharon blasts me with her sonic scream while I am extricating us Alison...that could be very BAD. I have an idea that will be more..uncomfortable for me, but should work even better.

Nicolas opens his hand. Inside is a syringe and a small packet.

The packet is smelling salts. The shock to her system should easily jar her to wakefulness. It is sufficient even for those who have suffered concussions. For me however, something a little more harsh but equally effective is required.

Nicolas holds up the syringe.

This is sulfuric acid mixed with nitric acid. It will hurt a lot going in, but the shock should definitely pull me back if it is needed. I will be able to metabolize it in short order after it does its work.

Nicolas hand the items to Sharon with a wink.

OK, Alison. I am ready when you are.
