So, I saw the music vid for Nicki Minaj - "Super Bass" today @ lunch thanks to a co-worker of mine.

Now anyone who knows me, knows that I think ANYBODY over 25 that thinks Nicki Minaj is "talented", or "the greatest female MC" needs a good smack across the face. :sure:

My co-worker is a guy who's gay & he is all about NM & he was going on & on about her @ the VMA's & i said "really...what is it about her that you think is so great? she's not original & she's not authentic." & so he got all PASSIONATE about why she's so "fashion forward" & blah blah & i said "but what does ANY of that have to do w/ her so called TALENT as a rapper? can/does she write her own lyrics? can she even sing? can she dance?"

So he showed me "Superbass"....

what a STUPID video! :down: She sounds like she's desperate for her next breath between each bar & the girl can't dance for shit. I've done way better routines than that during my days on the pom team back in HS & i happen to be one of those white girls who CAN get down on the dance floor...i could dance circles around her.

when the vid was over I said "so who convinced her the best way to get in the game was to COMPLETELY COPY LIL KIM!?" those wigs, the hyper sexed lyrics about sexy boys, the imagery....ALL of it SCREAMS lil kim.

He really wanted to debate me about this & I just said "no thanks. you enjoy your nicki magoo" & i laughed & walked out of his office. Give me jean grae, lil kim, missy elliot, queen latifah, mc lyte & salt n pepa ANY DAY over Nicki McFlurry

I read somewhere that the girl has had EXTENSIVE plastic surgery to have the body she now sports, especially her cartoonish ass.

right. that's how i feel but yet she's ever present...like a fog & ppl just lap up every bit of CRAP she puts out.

she & that damn Ke$ha are the worst. they're the only one who will make me get off my Beyonce hate train to get on the one for them LOL! :haha:

NM was the opener for Britney when I went to see her two weekends ago in Toronto. I could hardly hear her, as the bass was too damn high! I have never heard her songs before, so if anybody had asked which songs she sang, I would not have been able to tell you even if my life depended on it.

SHe's not that original either. As soon as she started appearing in PEOPLE, I took in her weird hair and thought, great, another gaga.

haha! thats interesting to here considering the song of her's i was tortured w/ earlier today, "Superbass"

she's a copy cat alright, but i'd say more lil kim than gaga. gaga herself is a raging copycat of madonna & grace jones (among others).

but the fact that right now it seems to be all about - minaj, gaga, kesha & katy perry kinda makes you marvel @ how far the industry has fallen. rihanna & britney are considered "OLD TIMERS" compared to the four i just mentioned even though those two are enjoying surges in their careers @ the moment.

I guess katy perry aint that bad...its just that its hard to see her w/o seeing minaj or kesha in the same damn sentence or blurb.
