A story centered around the boards spunky Texas girl? Yes puh-lease. :D ;)

It's good you adapt your stories. Railroading players makes them feel like they're just puppets in the story, as-opposed to the people helping bring it to life. :)

ive been involved in games where the GM or DM (or whatever they call themselves) was so micromanaging...it was ridiculous. I think that just doesnt work.

It just gets boring for the players. I've made my mistakes as GM (or whatever) railroading the peopel too much. You just gotta let them have fun and go with the flow. A good group of players like you have with The Six must inspire you to go different directions all the time. :)

Anyways, thought i'd bump this thread and say if anyone decides to do a new rpg I'm game, now that I know I won't be going anywhere for the next six months or so. :)

I agree. You seem to be capable, interested, motivated, and most of all, MALE. (LOL!)

Even if it was a recurring guest role or something equally imaginative, I think you would do well at that.

*laughs*
Might be nice to have another tripod pump some more testosterone into the game, eh Rampage? ;)

I've been thinking about it. There's just so much history to the game it's kindof overwhelming. I like to have a very good understanding of the setting and characters before I come along for the ride. I might have to just settle for the plot synopsis threads that have been posted instead of reading through all the posts.

That's what I did at first. I actually think its a disadvantage to read too thoroughly, as it often can cause new players to use the information to their advantage when they shouldn't. Remember, any new character should have no knowledge pf the other players pasts, unless their bio is set up to do so (an old flame, etc.). If you read the bios of the players and the latest synopses (last 5 or 6), I would think that you should be fine.

Actually, just as an aside, I usually find it better when people don't really read other character's biographies before joining. A genuine surprise at a character's story as it is revealed to a new character is often underscored by a player's prior knowledge. I'd prefer people to read a few posts/storylines -- rather than biographies -- so they have a feel for the game, its setting and its general way of playing, everything else I find causes undue bias and general over-familiarity to what usually should be a strange new world the character has to enter.

The only advantage you'd have for reading biographies, in my humble opinion, is a player familiarity of what the game allows -- especially important in an RPG like The Six -- in terms of powers and skill your player should possess.

I don't know, we ignore it often in order to forward the plot, so I don't find it that big of a deal...

I've done so many non power RPGs it's what I'm use too. I voted for that, but I'd join a powered one. It'd be a nice change. I tried a board power RPG once, but it didn't work for me, since I couldn't connect with the pre-written character. It's just better for me to play characters I've made up.

I usually just read the personality of a bio since that's the part where it really helps me figure out how my character would react. I usually wait to read the rest when I'm bored or something.
