So, in this thread, i'd like all those who check in to please VOTE which type of rpg you you prefer. Powered or Non Powered. the type with the most votes will determine the basic game type that the new rpg will have.

those of you who vote and participate in this part of the dicussion are assumed to be interested in taking part in the new game. this is a game for and must be driven BY the participants.

Please indicate also that even if YOU vote for one option whether or not you'd still be willing to play in another type if that type received the most votes.

thanks for all those being involved in the discussion fo far.

I voted for the non-powered RPG. (and i'd probably just guest star since i'm already in a full time RPG now).

As for the power based one, no, I wouldn't join since i'm already in a power based one. lol

I liked both powered and non - powered but I've been in so many powered rpgs I'd like to try something different. My vote went to non powered like Sam.

Like I said in the previous thread I'll rp whatever we decide, its all good to me. :) If non powered rpg wins that's cool if powered should win that's fine as well.

Damn guys, let's keep this going. This suddenly died or something. So, besides Sam and I voted. Who else voted?:hi:

I voted...

Yay! ;)
Please indicate also that even if YOU vote for one option whether or not you'd still be willing to play in another type if that type received the most votes.

^^ What about Seb's / Farrah's above quote, Ram? Say the non powered vote wins, would you wanna rp? Or do you have your heart set on a powered rpg?

I could see my self RP'ing if it is not a non-powered soap opera deal. I would not want that. A non-powered action-type could be intriguing...

the reason it (the discussion) temporarily died, Heather is because the main person pushing for it (you) disappeared. I'm flexible (probably more now than before) to discussing this idea but like i said, im not going to make space for another inactive rpg.

im all for a new game for those who will USE IT but those who WANT it need to speak up and get involved in this discussion.

so far, only yourself and garrick are the main participants. there are others like sammi who would probably make an appearence in the game IF it went a certain way but the goal is to FIRST nail down which type of rpg people will participate in.

Ooh my bad! I thought we were waiting for more members to vote. :p Nobody else has voted its still the 3 - 2 vote for powered over non powered.

Like I said, earlier, I'm game for either but I think a non powered rpg would be fun. Everywhere you look its usually powered based. But, I'd still rp a powered rp no matter what the outcome.

The main problem I see is there are only 5 votes and less than those are posting here. It'd be a nice idea -- however I honestly don't see this being the right time for something like this on SG.

You know I've done quite a few rpgs before and something about the way The Six runs just seems intimidating as all hell. *laughs*

Maybe it's because it's been running so long and the characters are so well-developed. Jumping into an rpg on these boards has even an old geek vet like me a little worried. :)

But I see this 'new' one probably won't be taking off. A pity that, since I'm feelin' the need to get my (roleplaying) game face on. ;)

well nothing is set in stone...the beauty about owning this board is that i can change anything and whatever the members want to do, we can do it :)

firstly let me say THANK YOU for your acollades of the six and the characters, we the players DEFINATELY appreciate that (nice to know we still have some readers )

i DONT MIND a new rpg popping up, i just dont want something started and then having it flop to no activity.

so again, there's a possibility but it has to be driven BY the members in order for me to make space for it.

I've always been curious how you guys resolve combat in your rpgs. Does the Storyteller decide how everyone's actions go? Do you have statistics for the characters and randomly generate numbers? Or is it just whatever the person wants to do?

well Oracle will sometimes determine the outcome of any character(s) attacks in a battle to help the story go where it generally needs to go but as the mastrix, i make it a rule to let the players do what they want to do as long as they take my cues and go with the flow of the story.

i dont reveal the WHOLE of the plot, i try to let Oracle reveal it as the story progresses and it makes for better reactions by the characters.

and i think the fact that the players in the six are all people that ive worked with before in other rpgs (with the exception of Rampage who came in with lots of experience of his own from elsewhere) makes it easy too BUT ive always said that i was open to new players when spots opened...and as it stands right now with with Alison (Harbinger), Cameron (Prophet), and Blaze (Foxfire) gone....we currently have one or two spots open. BUT I was also thinking about many other members here who might have wanted to start something fresh, unconnected with the Six.

Ah, okay. Was always curious about that. Back when I used-to do board rpgs before posting interactions with other characters we'd usually communicate via an IM to make sure everything was kosher. :)

we sometimes do that to via PM or in our OOC thread just to make sure nothing is out of synch but really its all "as we go along". i dont like micromanaging and what fun would it be if i was telling people when/what to post?

for storylines that focus in on one character specifically (the last one we just did focused on Black Widow) , i communicated with her about various plot points she wanted to cover and when in the story she wanted to cover them. its always about flexibility and communication.

Oh that's a friggin' great idea! Centering a story around one character to help flesh them out and give them the spotlight for a bit always makes for a good time. How much of the storyline do you usually have already pre-planned? Do you find yourself going down different directions based on the decisions of your players?

you should definately check out the last storyline that we just completed. it begins with the thread "Carrying on" and ends with "A high note"...that focused on Haleigh (Black Widow- played by Lexi) and the one before THAT focused on Persephone (played by Sam) and begins with the thread "the start of something unusual" and ends with "the way we were". we've done several character focused storylines in times past too.

as for what i have pre planned? usually i just have a list of main idea/plot points and i discuss it with the person whose character is the focus to get their input and then we go from there. oracle will paint the setting and lead everyone along. and yes, the actions of the other players definately will effect the direction of a story. its happened many times before but as long as the MAIN plot points are covered....then the rest of the story, subplots etc can be free flowing and that makes it fun.

the characters who get the most attention are from the players who are the most involved.
