Coming this fall to The CW, 90210, the Aaron Spelling teen drama hit of the 90's will be back with a new generation of kids at West Beverly High.

There are also rumored guest appearences by Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling who would be playing the roles of Kelly Taylor and Donna Martin, which they made popular in the original series.

Here's a sneek peek of the new cast:

Any thoughts? I don't think anything can beat the original 90210, which I was a huge fan of, but I think I may tune in just to see how it turned out.

I've been hearing about this for at least a couple months now. It first it was merely a rumour here or there but now its finally set to launch.

I read that Jennie Garth passed up another TV pilot in order to be available to reprise her role as "Kelly" on this new 90210, something about her being a fashion design teacher at the school? of course Tori Spelling would be involved. It was the only show she could be in because it was her Daddy's :D and obviously she hasnt done much SINCE :p

I too was a fan of the original show, but again I kind of cooled off of it after Shannen Doherty left. :(

I see the cast is larger, and they finally realized that BLACK KIDS go to highschool too! LOL i always thought it was kind of silly that 90210 and MP didnt have any PERMANENT black characters on their shows.

i'll definately tune in to see how it turns out, but in a "post Aaron Spelling" era...the show definately faces an UPHILL battle to find that audience and that same stroke of success the original had.

Well I know two of the girls in the new cast from previous shows. The brunette girl who's mother is played by Lori Loughlin is from Degrassi. She's actually really good on that show, so i'm actually interested to see how she does in this series.

The blonde girl with the curly hair that's supposed to be the 'sex pot' was in Nip/Tuck last season. She was brutal on that show LOL, so i'm really interested to see if she plays as vindictive of a character as she did on Nip/Tuck.

Aside from them, and Lori Loughlin, I don't recognize anyone in the show....but the cast seems diverse enough, so i'm interested to see how this show plays out.

Probably not interested. Didn't watch the first one, in fact. But I am glad that people of color get to be on it this time in more roles...

Hmmm, you know I’m all about the ‘classic’ television shows like Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place. But, after seeing the sneak peak I wasn’t wowed by that or the cast. In the original 90210 you had a few celebrities on the show. But the spin-off cast has about one or two people, I doubt I’ll watch it. Its trying to be edgy and provocative like Melrose Place with all the “secrets” the characters have and more adult oriented viewers.

But I was left with a blah feeling, I wasn’t drawn to this or it didn’t appeal to me. I think they should have made a spin-off years ago when 90210 was over with. Keep that spark going but to ignite it now seems kinda silly. Most of the 90210 viewers years ago are now fully grown and have more chic shows like Sex & the City, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, etc.

I think they should have done a spin-off for the college years. But, I’m no longer a child, someone who was in school when the show was broadcast, and I’m older than pretty much all of their characters.

I’m just not drawn to High School television shows anymore. I like more adult oriented shows that deal with more grown up aspects. Although the original show tackled issues like drugs, eating disorders, suicide, and divorce, etc.

that's another thing...in a post "O.C." world, is this show really going to work? the original 90210 cast were unique, not necessarily cast for their stunning beauty as many of them were rough around the edges until the show's popularity grew and then the cast's pay checks and their style demands grew.

this cast looks like something that Mattle's BARBIE assembly line could have manufactured.

the original cast of 90210 appealed to my generation (generationX) and those right after me, but i dont think this new one really CARES of the "generation x" crowd is into this show. these days, TV is all about the "tweens and "generation Y'.

Well they're going to aim for the market that'll bring them the ratings, and that's very much the tweens and teens. Look at Miley Cyrus, the High School Musical cast, Gossip Girl cast, ect ect. They're HUGE without needing to draw in adult viewers. While I agree that the original show appealed to a broader range of viewers, this new spinoff I think is specifically directed toward the younger generation, sort of like passing on the torch.

Shannen Doherty on her way back?

Shannen Doherty could be returning to 90210.

Multiple sources have confirmed to an Entertainment Weekly columnist that the controversial star, 37, has met with producers to reprise her role as Brenda Walsh on CW's 90210 spin-off.

In addition to wanting more money, "she wants to know what the story is going to be," according to the report.

Nearly 300,000 people voted to bring Doherty back in a recent Usmagazine.com poll.

Doherty's casting could raise some eyebrows considering that she clashed with original 90210 co-stars Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling, who have both signed on to return.

In her 2007 memoir So NoTORIous, Spelling wrote of Doherty and Garth: "Sometimes they got along, but there were explosions. Once they got into a fistfight."

Garth now tells EW, "A lot of time has passed, and I'm a big girl. I'd have no problem with her coming on the show."

The CW's spin-off debuts this fall.

Tell Us: Should Shannen return?

I read that Tori Spelling is out because of the recent birth of her baby and that Shannen will be replacing her on the show? Either way, if Shannen Doherty is coming back i'm going to watch just to see the scenes between her and Jennie Garth lol. :p

lol on Sunday since I had to drive down to Torrance because it had the closest internet cafe, I drove by the high school where they filmed the original and the remake. lol - that is one huge school. It's like a mansion lol

That's pretty freakin' nifty, Vil.

I've been watching the remake....and honestly, it's pretty corny. However I do really love the Kelly/Brenda scenes and the Kelly scenes in general. Silver is another character I like. The other two girls are pretty annoying in my opinion. :p

yeah most of the girls try WAY TOO HARD. Kelly and Brenda are obviously better even now that they are the bonafied "older" women of the show.

Ive read that the producers want to extend Brenda's role on the show and that Shannen is receptive to the idea.

That's great because without Kelly and Brenda, I'm not sure I'd keep watching. I don't like the "bitch" character Naomi at all. I was noticing that the original didn't really have a "villain" per se - it was more about the hardships that came up in their regular lives.

Yeah, Naomi is probably my least favorite character which sucks because I really enjoyed the actress on Nip/Tuck. But it just seems like she tries too hard to act. I think Dixon is cute as hell. He's just too sweet on the show lol.
