SO....who's been reading anything from new 52? How are you feeling about it now? Do have more positive or less favorable reviews this far into DC's massive overhaul?

As for me? I have tried REPEATEDLY to give new 52 Wonder Woman a chance. I will say that I do like the update to her outfit w/ the golden accents but there's so much about the character now that I can't even remotely relate to or enjoy. They've changed her backstory completely & they even eliminated Donna Troy (Wonder Girl I, Troia) as her sister! (in fact ALL of the "new teen titans" have been retconned out of existence in New 52 :( )

I also don't like the way the Olympians are portrayed in WW either. They all look so strange...bizarre...especially Demeter & Hades. Apollo is pretty cool & so is Strife (though she was not apart of the classic olympian line up in any other incarnation of WW) & where is Athena or Hecate?

Speaking of Olympians, WW was trained by Ares & is NOW The Goddess of War herself but this isnt the first time WW has become a goddess. & Finally, this whole thing of pairing w/ SUPERMAN??? :sure: It just doesnt "feel" right to me.

I feel that the new 52 definitely has some variable quality and major issues with editorial causing all types of friction (there has been a slight issue with hemorrhaging talent hadenblackman.com Heartbroken the Batwomen team being the latest to go)

Some titles have been spectacular like Animal Man, Swamp Thing, All-Star Western, Batman/Superman, 2 of the Justice League titles, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Earth 2, and others. However there have also been a share of titles unfairly canceled and general stinkers that just keep slogging along.

I don't really feel like its anything really special its just a normal comic line with it's share of hits and misses. Not bad, not great but good enough to keep going. To be honest I'm not sure if there is a line around right now that I would call Universally Great the big two have both settled into a state of "meh" currently and I feel they both are stuck there right now

by the by I like the Alien look to the Olympians they have a otherness to them that I feel makes them unique and more godlike

You know what i REALLY don't like about "new 52"? the sudden LACK of CHOICES for reading & the mass evacuation of FAN FAVORITE characters! :(

Donna Troy & the whole "new teen titans", gone. I remember groaning about all the retcons Donna Troy went through for years & I would always say...why don't they just say she's Wonder Woman's sister!? They look alike, have similar powers etc...it just makes sense & FINALLY in 2005, after years of tip toeing to that...they finally got it right. Now she's GONE.

CatWoman, gone, Power Girl...loses her own series & is relegated to the status of Mr. Terrific's GIRLFRIEND :sure:

I also don't like how Starfire & Harley Quinn have been turned into....eye candy PORN for kids  ....yes I know one could argue the same thing was done w/ Power Girl & her inhumanly spectacular bust in the mid-to-late 90s...but even that didnt seem as obnoxious as what they've done to Starfire in this revamp. & due to the teen titans retconned out of existence, Starfire & Tim Drake's origins have been significantly altered.

Of course we talked about Barbara Gordon/Oracle/Bat Girl I...I'm still not happy about that. & I know there are lots of fans of Cassandra Cain or Stephanie Brown that feel sand bagged by THAT unexpected retcon. I believe Oracle was a unique character for a variety of reasons & even Wizard Magazine listed Batgirl I -> to -> Oracle as one of the greatest character overhauls in DC's history. To me, this latest change is a regression & underwhelming.
