Inside the new $1.3m Museum of Racist Memorabilia with 9,000 exhibits that leave most visitors angry or offended

----------------

This new museum is from MY home state of MI.

Just reading about it was shocking but @ the same time, as a history minor, i do think its important to show the REAL history of racism in america [in an environment such as a museum where it's not being presented in any particular way but simply on display] & buck the trend of ppl who try to sweep it under the rug & say it doesnt it exist. it DOES exist & the history of this country is directly linked to the history of the brutality of chattle slavery, jim crow & pre civil rights times. I think alot of the ppl who are offended & upset cant handle the fact that this collection is damning evidence of what many whites thought of blacks in America.

racism is wrong, UGLY, stupid & DEADLY.

This museum puts it on blast. It shows how foolish ppl were & still ARE b/c you can believe that there are ppl out here around all of us who think its okay to look down on someone b/c of the color of their skin & doing things like using black babies for alligator bait during slavery (yes they did) was an exceptable practice.

"Museum of Racist Memorabilia" <-- the name made me laugh.

In all seriousness, I totally agree with all this. It's an important story to tell, and if this will help in the fight against racism, than I'm all for it.

Its a real part of history, and really you can't forget the dark twisted parts of where you came from.

It is a pretty funny name for the museum lol but I think its a good idea. History should never be forgotten no matter how horrible the past is. You can't deny it happened.
