Sometimes I forget that there was a time where films actually could have an emotional impact on me. I'm so picky and cynical about going to the movies these days.

Still, there are movies that I have seen that stand out and some that were very emotionally moving to me. What are some movies that touched you and/or made you cry?

For me

The Burning Bed - my heart ached for Farrah Fawcett in that film, I knew it was all acting but she gave a truly lip biting, tear producing performance in that film.

What's love got to do with it- the violence and brutality Tina Turner (played by Angela Bassett) dealt with in this film...it was very upsetting to me. Her eventual strength to fight back, escape her husband and trump him in court was a big relief for me

Eye for an eye- the first time I saw this film it was very difficult for me. The scene where Sally Field's character's daughter is brutally attacked, raped and murdered by Keifer Sutherland's character while Field's character HEARS all of this on her cellphone but is stuck in traffic across town, abandons her car running down the street screaming for someone....anyone to call for help to her house. she screams into the phone she wont leave her daughter and hears everything up to her daughter's death. the movie switched back and forth during these scenes and the moment of the daughter's death left me and my mom in shock and tears. Field's obsessive campaign of revenge through the rest of the film was COMFORTING to me.

Dead Poets Society- nothing at all like what the commercial previews suggest. This film definately delivered an emotional uppercut for me when I first saw it. very heartwrenching at the time.

Boys don't cry- another powerfull film. To know that this is what some LGBT people have endured (and not survived) it was very sad to watch.

My Girl - I didnt bawl on this one like I did the first three I mentioned, but this was another film that seemed like it would be sweet and light hearted but took a dark, tragic turn and I was teary eyed from it.

Omg! I know what you mean Vil. I seriously can't watch any animal films because I become a bawling mess. I actually allowed myself to watch Marley and Me, which was the BIGGEST mistake every because I was a blubbering idiot at the end of that movie. It was a great movie, don't get me wrong....but good lord lol.

Finding Neverland is one where I can't help but cry at the end. Not because there's some devastating event that had happened, but because Kate Winslet's character is dying and she asked Johnny Depp's character what Neverland was like. He ended up doing his play Peter Pan in her house for her and turned her entire backyard into Neverland. Just seeing her face when she saw it was absolutely tear inducing. It was like she was seeing heaven. I literally can't watch it without crying.

ET is another huge one for me. I can't watch the end of that movie without sobbing like a baby LOL. I want ET to go home, but I don't want him to leave either. This movie has gotten to me ever since I was a kid. And the second I hear that music they play when he leaves, i'm done for.

Two times I cried...I cannot believe I am sharing this.

In Malcolm X when Denzel, as Malcolm, is walking down the street prior to his assassination. He KNOWS he will die for his beliefs THAT day and he KNOWS that he must stand and speak anyway. In the background is playing "A Change Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke..I cried like a baby.

In the first Jurassic Park, when he FIRST looks at the dinosaurs and they show them in packs by the lake...tears flowed, it was the biologist in me that could not contain the joy at experiencing that moment, even if in a movie.

I always cry at The Notebook, its just such a sad film and a really good love story.
