I'll tell you in another lifetime when we are both
What phone do you have, if you can give make and model no (and a pic or link) it would MUCH appreciated. - I'm asking because I would like inspiration as to what phone (and features) I should get.

See every 12months upgrade time happens and I strip T-mobile (my network provider) for as much as they can give me. That usually amounts to £100 off the phone or in other words a free top of the range phone and at least £10 off a month from my contract as well as extra free mins and/or text messages. - My Dad and I have competitions to see who can negotiate the best deal.

This year I'm tempted to go on an 18month contract, but that means keeping the same phone for 18months. I've had a mobile phone for 8yrs now and have never suffered the same phone for more than 12months - this HAS to be a good phone!

Now choosing a phone is hard! Firstly it has to be better than my Fathers and it cannot be the same phone as anyone I know especially my aunt because even though I might have got the phone before her she'll say 'oh you've got the same phone as me' and then rant on about how I copied her and then ask me to teach her how to use it..grrrr. It has to be stylish and full of features, at least: a 3.0megapixel camera, data compatable with my PC, MP3 player (so I can have the badboy ring tone), hopefully SatNav, bluetooth, TFT screen, all the standard features: predictive text, colourscreen, polyphonic/MP3 ringtones, Personal Organiser and oh yeah it has to ring people. - Yes a phone is an extension of something..... but I don't CARE, I've been programmed by a great marketing policy, just like trainers and cars.

I did pick a phone and had my heart set on iot (Nokia N73) but because my friend has the same one (and i spent the last 4yrs cussing his notoriously crap phones) I cannot bring myself to get the same phone as him - it's pride..

The Mobile market here is huge and the right phone is SO important.

So whilst I have the topic 'phone' in my head, is the demand for cell/mobile phones in America a life or death thing as it is in England? Are they not just a must have item but a must have the best one possible item? And if it is do you even know why

Hell I just want to talk cell/mobile phone... humour me!

Cell phones are such a lovely device, but choosing one can be a difficult decision. I had Verizon Wireless but I would say a month ago I wanted to disregard my old number, seeing that Jess and I weren't an item, and I wanted to cut her off completely. So, I browsed online, I knew I wanted to stick with Verizon Wireless, just because in my opinion they are good.

I looked around for maybe five minutes and I found my phone its a V3M Pink Razr http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/...&selectedPhoneId=2405&changingCompletedOrder=I have the 900 minute plan with 500 picture and texts and I also receive free incoming calls and texts from other Verizon customers as well.

I also took the "Playback tones" or something. So anyone who calls me will hear specific music I want. So for example I could play "Deeper & Deeper" by Madonna and my friends who call don't hear a ringing but music lol until I pick up the phone.

Its a cool thing to have. I can download video's, play music video's, and check my e-mail, or send Instant Messages through AOL, Yahoo, or MSN. I can even go shopping lol.

Besides those nifty things I also purchased the Bluetooth head set so I can talk on the phone whenever I'm driving without the inconvenience of wires. I got the bluetooth headset, car charger, and a leather protective case for my phone as a package deal.

I'm really thrilled with this phone and the music is superb. There's no irritating static or cut off in songs. Plus I have a New York number instead of a Florida number (where Jess had purchased the old phones).

Pictures come out amazing, you have various lighting settings such as black and white, night vision, indoor, outdoor, etc.

The price on the phone has dropped substantially, but I know a lot of Attorney's at work recognize my phone as the Razr, its an excellent phone. Although I think the new fad is that Chocolate phone from Verizon, but I'm thrilled with my Razr.

Cell phones are a huge part of America, and I think its important to have one. I think some people look at phones like designer clothing, the more expensive the phone the better quality. Its really all about labels in any country, the higher the label the more likely the better quality. I've always loved Motorola the best, they are long lasting - durable phones.

Its all about the flashy technology someone has. For me I need a good working phone I talk on the phone frequently with friends and family. Plus if I'm ever in an accident I can call for assistance (if I'm not dead or unconscious). I have road side assistance on my phone and GPS tracking, so if my car breaks down I call someone to assist me. If I get lost my GPS will lead me in the right direction.

Its about what YOU want and what feels comfortable to you.

I'm with Verizon also. I have a LG V800 or something along those lines. lol. It's an MP3 player/ Camera / Video flip phone. It has internet, bluetooth, true tones, ringback tones, and other features. This is the first phone that I actually really love. Unfortunately I can't stand Verizon, lol. I do think it's the best company service wise, but as for customer service, they can kiss my ass. :p

The LG Chocolate there looks totally different to the choclate here:

(And it comes in different colours as well)

To be honest the choclate is a bit basic on features and is vastly considered a "girls" phone.

Currently I've got Motorola V3i (the megapixel one) and to be honest I hate it! The menu is cumbersome at best the camera weak and it looks like a compact....

Fox, I cannot believe you got 'playback tones' T-mobile put that on my phone for free for one month and everyone who called me complained and I demanded that they take it off. Literally no one over here liked that feature.

Still I cannot believe you have to pay for incoming calls, thats like robbery!

Nooo lol I get free incoming calls from Verizon clients, so it doesn't decrease any of my minutes, which I like.

My friends like my playback tones I have "Goodnight and go" by Imogen Heap on mine, so its cool. The chorus on my phone is, "Why'd you have to be so cute, its so difficult to ignore you." And it goes on lol.

Wow that Chocolate phone looks starkly different compared to the American one.

What colors do you like for phones? I usually like black and silver, but when I saw the pink shade I loved it.

I've seen a lot of phones where the phone is really small as far as the keypads and menu's, some of them like you had are cumbersome. A phone should be simple not brain surgery lol.

Hey Sam, what happened with Customer Service? I dealt with them once to turn off my old phone. In order to do so I needed a Power of Attorney. :sure: Needless to say I think Jess finally had it turned off or something. But I thought it was really lame, seeing as I wasn't the Admin. on the account. We had a family share plan. I explained that she was in the Army and all but they refused lol. I didn't mind creating a Form 2848 (Power of Attorney) but the problem was Jess had to sign for it lol. Yeah, I don't think so. That was the only problem I had with them.

I'm a 'grey is a good colour' kind of guy so I only like phones to be either black, grey (you American's spell it wrong lol = gray), silver or gun metal grey - oh so sexy.

Anywho I got my new phone with either free 900mins cross network or free 1800 text (or divided as and how I want) for £30 (£5 discount) a month and the phone free. I can also use full internet on the phone, it has a 3 megapixel camera (Carl Zeiss lens) and I can look at Microsoft documents on it:

http://www.phones4u.co.uk/shop/shop_contract_details.asp?itemkey=153548&st=1

What I meant though is that over here paying to receive calls isn't a factor. I cannot believe anyone would pay to receive a call.
