Marilyn Burns, star of 'Texas Chain Saw Massacre,' dead at 64 - MSN Movies News
-----------------------------
Alot of people will credit Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween) or even Adrienne King (Friday the 13th) as the first to personify the "Final girl" trope in horror movies, but Marilyn Burns did it before both of them in the original splatter horror film Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Her character, Sally would become the lone survivor of a horrific experience that claimed all of her friends...and perhaps the most memorable & terrifying scene in the film is when she is seen running, screaming for her life down the road while Leatherface is in hot pursuit. Even when she is rescued by a trucker and carried away from the monster/killer, it's clear that she is inconsolable. It left a memorable impact on horror movie fans for generations to come.
