Madonna's 'Hard Candy'

Okay, so I bought Hard Candy off iTunes right when 12am hit LOL, so now miss Spellbinder wants me to write up a quick review.

So....I hate to say it, but this isn't my favorite album Madonna has done. It has a lot of R&B beats to it, which isn't a bad thing....but there's something about the melodies that is lacking for me in a lot of the tracks.

The one track I absolutely love is "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You", it's very technoish/R&B based and it has a great soft beat to it. "Give It 2 Me" the remix is also a fantastic track. It's completely techno based edited by Paul Oakenfold. It's a real kick ass song....I sort of wish the rest of the album had beats and melodies like these two songs. Oh, and I love 4 Minutes as well, which has been out for a while so everyone knows about that one lol. On the Delux CD [which I purchased] it has 2 remixes of 4 Minutes as well which are really cool. Again, techno based for the remakes.

Overall, it's a pretty good album, although I would have prefered the majority of the songs to be like the techno based ones. But hey, that's just me.

This is an album that has brought Madonna back to her audience from her early days. Hard beats, smoother R&B sounds, dance tracks, and a line up that includes Timbaland, the Neptunes, Kanye West and Justin Timberlake.

Obviously "4 minutes" is hot (mtv vma nominated), "give it to me" is another hit, but my personal favorite? "The beat goes on" feat. Kanye West and produced by the Neptunes. This is a very sublime track..its got a smooth sound, a nice dance beat and Kanye actually has fun with Madonna on the track. This is a track to bump when you're riding downtown with friends and want to "dance in the car" lol. it's a club friendly track.

With her "Sticky & Sweet" tour in full swing, and Madonna coming to detroit in november (yay) i've been bumping "Hard Candy" on my CD player in the car more than ever.
