This year also marks the 60th anniversary of her "I Love Lucy" television show. Ball died in 1987.
The Hollywood Museum has a new exhibit celebrating both Ball and her show that opened Thursday. The museum has scheduled the look-alike contest as well as a birthday cake celebration.
There has also been a screening of some of Ball's movies at the Egyptian Theater this week.
Ball's daughter, Lucy Arnaz, told The Times in an interview this week that it's striking how many people love her mother and her show. "I hear the same kind of stories from the same age people decade after decade as if it were the film 'Groundhog Day.' It is bizarre to be me."
"I think she would, of course, be extremely honored and proud."

Happy Birthday, Lucy!
arty:
I'll always "love Lucy" she had a talent for comedy & timing that was uncanny! she inspired a legion of women like Carol Burnett, Roseanne Barr & beyond.
However, I notice this article states that she died in 1987. I distinctly remember the year of her passing was 1989 b/c I was in 7th grade. I even remember when it came over the news that morning.
