216 Reasons Were Losing Ground On Social Issues | Addicting Info

-----------------

It seems that for ever era of progress, there's a backlash of "conservatism". In the 60's & 70's - the era of women's liberation, the sexual revolution, civil rights & more...we saw the dawn of the "Religious Right" in the 80s to push back against all of this & take us BACK. We're seeing more of that NOW w/ the Tea Party forcing republicans to shift "far right" on issues & call for denying even BASIC rights to minorities & such.

We can't GO BACK. Ppl have no idea what it would mean for so many if that happens.

What do you think?

I think that in the end that the Judicial Branch will push us forward no matter what, as they have done in the past. Even this SCOTUS seems to be moving a bit.

have you looked @ the LATEST roster of the SCOTUS??

This is the same supreme court that delivered quite possibly the most ABSURD rulling EVER on the "citizens united" case

Looking back through recent history, normally I'd AGREE w/ you on the idea that the Judicial branch would help move us forward. If it wasnt for the supreme court...roe vs wade, school integration & civil rights never would've happened...but something quite fundamental has changed ....& even the SCOTUS has become infected by the hyperpartisan virus that infects our whole gov't system.

Clarence Thomas & John Roberts are the worst of the worst when it comes to this.

I don't think so there is a current push by the fringe right to regress on abortion, education and social welfare but at the end of the day they are still the fringe. They are the far far right and even republicans are not feeling the republican party these days. Stupidity may seem like it's on the rise but in an age of more interconnected and aware individuals growing up it seems more like a last gasp of the old age of stupid (I'm before long a new type of stupid will spring up but that going to be a different thing for a different age)
